  1. What a great series. Sometimes the bounces just don't go your way, and they didn't go Boston's way last night. Dominant all game, then just got rocked at the end. They must've been in total shock after that second goal. Just a haunting loss for those players.
  2. As much as I love Briere, it was time to go. Can't be having a guy like Briere not getting points on a $6.5 mil cap hit. He had 16 points this year, I believe. He'll get a cushy job as a Flyers ambassador or something of the sort once he wraps his playing career up, if he doesn't go work for Comcast SportsNet.
  3. Nope, and every day it's looking more and more like he had something to do with it. Today's reports said that there were 4 guys, including Hernandez and Odin Lloyd (The victim) at the bar, and only 3 of them came back to Hernandez' house. I'll leave it up to you to figure out who didn't.
  4. It's looking more and more that way, but they can't do anything until two days after the SCF is over. That's why I'm kind of hoping this series just ends already (although I'd also love to see it go into game 7 ~CONFLICTED) But yeah, it's looking like both Briere and Bryz are gone. They'll bring in someone to compete with Mason for the #1 job. The holdup on the Streit deal is actually that they can't finalize his contract until they have the cap room that will be created with their buyouts.
  5. Ducks want Matt Read, so look at it like this Matt Read and Jacub Voracek for Bernier and Bobby Ryan, i think thats a win if you ask me Yeah, but the Ducks won't take just Matt Read for Bobby Ryan straight up. They'll want more. I would love Bernier, but I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them going after a cheaper option like Ray Emery and having him battle Mason for the #1 job. I think Bobby Ryan's definitely ready to break out, but so is Voracek. If they're similar players, why swap out one for the other? That doesn't make much sense to me, unless I'm just overvaluing Voracek (which I don't think I am - dude was a beast this past season).
  6. Flyers are being talked about as front runners for both G Jonathan Bernier and Winger Bobby Ryan, because of course they are. League sources are saying the Kings want Voracek in a trade for Bernier....Please, Homer, Don't do it. I hate being a Flyers fan sometimes.
  7. Checked out Dead and Bloated...I don't think it would be as bad if he didn't try to mimic Scott's sound.
  8. After last night, I'm riding the Bruins bandwagon for the rest of the playoffs. Hard to dislike that team. I'm a big Chara fan, and Jagr's one of my all-time favorites. So yeah, call me a bad Flyers fan or what-have-you, but I like the Bruins for the next month.
  9. Yeah, that Habs/Sens game was crazy. I hope Subban gets what's coming to him, and soon. Great player, but what a clown. Once you start cheap shotting someone that's on their back on the ice, you should get a 2 game suspension
  10. I don't think so. I know that NFL types lie a lot, but I believe Caldwell when he unequivocally says Tebow won't be a Jaguar.
  11. I think you hit it spot on. I think another part of the reason is because, for lack of better phrasing, people don't watch women's sports nearly as much as men's sports, and a lot of that just gets lost in the shuffle.
  12. Flyers at 11..I'd love to see them grab Darnell Nurse, from what I've heard of him. Also wanna hear all the sports radio nuts freaking out if the Bullies grab the nephew of Donovan McNabb
  13. Yeah, pretty much what everyone else said. Good for him, but when a starter or regular contributor on a team comes out, it'll be a bigger deal. But really, it's so normal for people to be gay these days that it was only a matter of time. Glad to see someone finally had the courage to come out. Hopefully it works out well for him, whether his career continues or not.
  14. With the Flyers out I don't have a dog in the hunt, but I guess I'd like to see Boston win. I have a lot of friends from the New England area, and Jagr's always been my favorite player. Pretty much anyone but the Penguins I'm ok with, though.
  15. I love the Eagles move to get Barkley. People talking about Chip's offense being a clone of the one he ran at Oregon fail to realize that he's going to adapt to his personnel, especially with how injury-prone Vick is. I'm glad they didn't make a move on him sooner, though. If he ends up being that franchise guy, then it's a steal. If he doesn't pan out, then it's not like we reached for him. LOVE the Lane Johnson pick. Easily fortifies the O-Line, with Peters and Kelce back. They'll also be able to move Herremans back to guard, where he's more comfortable. He's a physical freak, and he wrestles black bears for fun. Love it. Zach Ertz is gonna be a baller. 2 TE sets with him and Celek will be fun.
  16. I DON"T WANT NO QUEERS ON MY FOOTBALL TEAM I'm just kidding. I don't think it would be a huge deal in most locker rooms. In my athletic career, I had a couple of gay teammates and friends on other teams. Granted, running is a lot different than football, but I think it carries over. It's just idiot fans that they'd have to deal with, along with the constant ESPN Sportcenter debates. I actually kind of want someone to come out just so we can have guys tip toeing around their words trying not to drop F-bombs on ESPN.
  17. So the Flyers won 5-4 in OT yesterday, a win which put them just two points out of a playoff spot. Wait, what? If they somehow sneak in, I'll be amazed.
  18. The Rosa Parks of the new gay NFL! I could care less about gay players, as long as they can play. I could see some fans getting veeerrrrryyy abusive after tailgating all day though
  19. Yeah, NJ, NY and Washington are definitely closer than PIT. Also, no fucking shot the Flyers trade Briere to the Penguins. The no trade clause hurts a bit, because I could see a bunch of teams lining up for Briere. Although, now he has a concussion and is out indefinitely, so this could all be moot.
  20. Teams get two amnesty buyouts, right? Something like that? I wouldn't be shocked if the Flyers bought out Briere as well. He's been a great Flyer, but his regualr season production is zilch, and he hasn't scored a goal in a month. He's injured now, too. I don't quite know what his cap hit looks like, but I'm sure he doesn't come cheap.
  21. I graduated from La Salle last year, my girlfriend still goes there. The campus was insane last night...the whole street was shut down while students poured out of dorms/houses and raged in the street. There are some pretty cool videos on local sports blogs Crossing Broad and The 700 Level, that might be worth checking out. Insane run for the Explorers so far though, hope they can keep it going.
  22. That's my fear - that he's too bold. I'm afraid he'll blow the whole thing up a la Richards/Carter. Yeah, the team is slumping, and they need a defenseman, but ultimately it's a very young team that has a shot to do some special stuff. I wouldn't mind trading away a piece or two in order to shore up the defense (I think Coutourier will be the onw to go), but I don't want Holmgren to do anything drastic. If they trade Voracek away, I quit.
  23. This is too true. I'm not a fan, but if they have consistently solid goaltending throughout the playoffs, the Pens have to be the favorite. Flyers lost again last night to the Lightning, another team scratching and clawing to get in....big loss. Like I said before, I'm ever the optomist, but I don't think the Flyers get in this year. I just hope Holmgren doesn't blow everything up again.
