  1. I'm running a 3 Ghz Pentium 4 with 512 MB Ram and a Ati X300 video card, and the game runs well most of the time. I do have problems with one area though. The areas outside of the jedi enclave on dantoine (spelled wrong I know but you know what I mean), gave my computer fits no matter how low I set the graphics setting. For some reason (I think because of all the creatures there) I would get freeze up only to find that when it unfroze my character had run much farther than I had wanted, or more often completely changed directions. This part of the game is not completely unplayable, but I do come to dread it somewhat as it always causes me a good degree of headache as it takes me twice as long to get through it as it should. The game is fun though....especially being evil, though at times I found that I couldn't be as callous as I needed to be to maintain my darkside mastery Edit- It's actually funny you should bring it up now though since I just bought the game a couple weeks ago in spite of the fact that it's been out for like 2 years.
  2. I don't know if this has been posted yet anywhere else, but I haven't seen it. IGN has confirmed GM mode and has a preview up about it. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/662/662051p1.html
  3. I can't really vote in this poll because I can't say I've honestly played either game. However, in the past I've always been a bigger fan of ESPN nhl 2k series. The games just play more realistically, and make more sense in general (in my opinion). I remember I hated the metered passing in nhl 05 and how easy it was to score. Or maybe that was 04 but either way it didn't stack up in my opinion to nhl 2k5( or 4)
  4. Well obviously I wasn't thinking about draft rosters. I'll keep my mouth shut in future ←
  5. Say you're the kicker. What do they do in real life? Watch the game until it's time to kick. So how you can say being able to simulate the game until it's your turn to do something would make it more realistic is beyond me.
  6. I have a few gripes about Superstar Mode, but hopefully they'll develop something more fleshed out in future Maddens. I'm really glad that they've at least started including this mode. Here's some of my problems. Draft Issues- You don't even actually get to be part of the draft at all. It will say that you're drafted as pick number x in the xth round, but if you actually look into it, the game doesn't work this way. For example, I found that while I was pick 10 in the 3rd round of the 2005 nfl draft, there was actually another play who was picked with the same pick. This shouldn't be possible. I know, it's small, but still. Plus, you should be drafted based on how talented your superstar actually is, but this isn't the case. My 95 rated defensive end gets drafted in the 4th round, even though he's like the 4th best defensive end in the NFL and by far the fastest. Recognition Issues- There's not really enough recognition or rather feedback to warrant playing many seasons. Score 20 touchdowns in one game, and you will see what? Maybe a persona saying you're player of the week if it's the first time, but other than that, you just get your name mentioned in the e-mail that you would be getting anyways documenting that you're player of the week. Furthermore, I seriously question the madden cover issue. You'd think a player with full popularity and marketability who recorded an nfl record on sacks in a season, and made headlines (implied anyways, since I see like no feedback of what I've done) all around the league would get the cover bid, but nope. You see almost nothing for winning the superbowl. No congratulations, no celebration, no e-mail even. All you get is a persona, and again, an e-mail with the final score of the superbowl game which you would have gotten anyways. Contract Issues - I'd like a little more say over my contract, including my rookie contract. I want to be able to hold out, renegotiate, and even be released if my performance isn't good enough. I wish the money you earned actually had a purpose. It's nice to realize that you're the highest paid player in the NFL, but what purpose is it to choose a higher money offer if you can't use the money for anything? Lastly and most importantly Control Issues- I wish it were easier to just control one player throughout the game. You -can- do it, but it requires you to use a second controller to make sure that you can run your routes if you're on offense, and it requires you to either change the settings so the computer is controlling both teams, or let madden call all the plays, and then not hit a button. I wish there was a better way to do it with just one controller, and without having to worry about accidentally hitting a button. Also, I think it would be cool if you could simulate when the other side of the ball (offense if you're playing on the defense, and defense if you're playing on the offense) is on the field. I do enjoy the mode though. I like that it's fairly random how good your players can be. For example, I've only twice gotten a defensive end with 91 speed (requires a mother who's a track star and a hall of fame DE father), and only once gotten a WR with 99 speed 99 acceleration and 99 agility. I know I tend to ramble a lot, but this is the only place I get to talk about my views on video games, since I don't know any other gamers irl, and don't talk on any other forums.
  7. Yeah. For anyone interested, here's my QB's stats. Posistion: QB OVR: 87 AGE: 21 SPD: 65 STR: 70 AWR: 83 AGI: 65 ACC: 65 CTH: 68 CAR: 65 JMP: 65 BTK: 65 TAK: 65 THP: 91 THA: 85 PBK: 50 RBK: 50 KPW: 80 KAC: 80 KR: 0 IMP: 87 STA: 88 INJ: 75 TGH: 95 List came out longer than expected. ←
  8. Soul Reaver - PlayStation A sequel (of sorts) to Blood Omen (only really in storyline though). About a thousand years after the end of Blood Omen, Kain has built a vampire empire, with himself as the supreme ruler. Kains vampiric powers continue to evolve, only Kain evolves first and then his minions evolve after.....until Raziel Raziel is the first vampire in Kain's empire to evolve wings. For this, He is cast into the lake of the dead (water burns vampires in Nazgoth). His body is destroyed, but at the beginning of the game, he finds he is still 'alive' as a soul reaver. Basically the entire game is about him coming back hundreds of years later, and getting his revenge. Great action, Awesome storyline, fun puzzles, interesting characters, entertaining "boss" fights and the best voice acting you will ever hear in a video game. One of my all time favorites. (later sequels to the game weren't quite as good.) If you ever do play it, be sure to watch the opening FMV, it's very well done.
  9. Actually, the key in handicap matches is the same as the key in any match. Keep your attitude meter high (with taunts, or however you need to) and you will find that with a high attitude meter you will be more apt to get reversals when they attack you, leading to greater success. Oh, and if you're in real trouble, you can climb the ring posts, and if the guy doesn't immediately run at you, you can taunt 2 (or maybe 3...I can't remember) times while up there to get an extra boost while your opponent keeps his distance. Been a damn long time since i've played it, but that's the stuff I remember. Basically, everytime you get a few free seconds, taunt to keep your meter high.
  10. You're in the minority there ←
  11. Well, I decided that I wanted to play WR and so I was looking for the one where the father is a Hall of Fame WR who was a burner (the top line says he was a burner). However, I passed one that I thought would be an interesting combination, and just had to see how good of a player it produced. Father: Hall of Fame D-Lineman (Defensive End) Mother: College Track Star (Description at the top says one of the world's fastest women). The end result was a defensive end that's rated 96 overall right at the beginning of the game, with 93 speed. Too bad he looks nothing like me (wrong skin color)...I may play it out anyways though. Got drafted in the 4th round though. I'd say that was a steal. The funny thing is, he got drafted by the Cowboys who had drafted two defensive linemen in the first round. EDIT - Actually one they turned into a linebacker. Shows how much I follow the cowboys
  12. How? Do you do 100% power? ←
  13. Still haven't played franchise yet. I figure it's probably exactly the same as 2005, which I played to death, but i may still get into it. I prefer to do fantasy draft though because it let's me decide my entire team (and i do always pick nearly every player). Teams get kind of unrealistic this way in 2005 though (Once saw a team that had Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Torry Holt). Anyways, I'm still playing superstar mode. I got tired of my QB who was supposed to be a wr because his lack of arm strength made it about impossible to get a first on third and long. Also it led to a lot of interceptions where the receiver was open, but I under-threw it. So, I started a new career with a QB whose father was a hall of fame QB (Dual threat). Now my QB has around the same speed (88), and has 89 THP and only like 78 THA, but that's not a problem. At least I can throw the ball deep decently. Got drafted by the Tampa Bay Bucs and I'm playing second string behind Griese, but he has been injured twice already this year, causing me to play the majority of the games. Things are going well, I'm trying to not be too outspoken this time (last time I was labelled a disruption, compared to this time where my personality type is Team Leader) and I'm doing decent. (3-4 tds per game, 1-2 ints and 200-300 yards). My defense is not as good as it was in KC though. We give up a ton of long-balls. In fact, the Lions threw like 3 deep touch downs to Charles Rogers against me. I've had some odd moments letting the cpu play defense too. Firstly, A pass interference call on a play where the ball went like 2 feet (qb released the ball into the ground as he was hit...basically dropped it). Secondly, there was a drive that the opposing team (Buffalo Bills I think) made that lasted like 4 minutes and went 17 plays before resulting in a field goal. Basically they drove down to the 1 yard line, and then the defense held them until third down where they got pass interference in the endzone: first down Buffalo, then they held again until third down before getting yet another pass interference before finally holding them on third down the 3rd time. It was damn long. Anyways, I figured I'd share my experiences with you. I personally would like to hear from even more people.
  14. I think graphics certainly still have a way to go. They may not improve as much as they did if you look at Madden (to keep with a common example) on ps vs ps2, but there will probably always be something to improve. You will probably begin to see more texture in the faces and bodies of human characters. I believe I saw some footage of a ps3 or xbox360 game in which the characters had visible pores. Characters will continue to look more lifelike, though they will never reach the point where they look like real life, imo. They will however, look like some good CGI sequences you might see in a movie, eventually. It's all about the small stuff now though. There's other advancements that can be made in the way graphics behave, that will be improvements. As an example, in Madden 2006 (to stay with the theme), the QB looks odd when looking downfield sometimes due to their body contorting oddly. Also, they occasionally will be looking completely backwards. These types of things, I expect to be fixed in the next gen consoles. In addition, I know one thing they were talking about (somewhere I read it) is ball-tracking for the receivers. They will actually look the ball into their hands instead of raising their arms at just the right moment to catch the ball in stride without ever looking back. Also, joints and hands need to look better in most games. There's always little things to work on graphically that will improve the atmosphere of the game, and make it more lifelike, without necessarily being a huge graphical step-up. I believe that's where graphics are going.
