  1. Anybody heard of The Paddingtons? A friend reccomended them to me a little while back and they have some cracking songs... Reccomended you listen to, - Panic Attack - 50 to a Pound - Loser Similar in style to the Libertines IMO.
  2. For me Greenday and The White Stripes were the best bands at the festival (I was at Leeds). Greenday were F'N Amazing!!!! Plus I love the White Stripes, and to me they didn't dissapoint.

    Alan Smith.

Smith did play on the right side of midfield a couple of times last season, Im CERTAIN of that. He probably played in the attacking midfield role, however I doubt very much he played as a central midfielder.
  4. I didn't say that the English interpretation was the only correct one, I was merely pointing out that the rules from which the game is played is exactly the same in England as it is in the Euro Championships. The fact that Meier said there are different rules will mean that things are interpreted differently. I have never said that rules aren't interepreted differently, just that the rules and laws are the same. Anyway, whats the point in having a message board where people debate things if your going to stop visiting threads because somebody has decided to challenge your opinion? Finally, Matzat, the way your acting is perhaps the most immature display I have ever seen on these boards, including people like Batsman, CXD and Jordon. Stop acting like a cock, the English aren't "whineeeyy vbabbyyss hahashahshasa" there just discussing a point about the English team where they disagreed with a decision that was obviously controversial. Despite what you think there isn't some huge English conspiracy against other nations on the board, I think there are just as many Americans and Canadians on the board as there are English. Find me one post where anybody has said something along the lines of "We're the English, we're the majority-so what we say goes". It hasn't happened so stop acting like a 6 year old kid.
  5. The point im trying to make is that the FA and UEFA have the same rules, which was the whole point of this arguement, the fact that the rules in Euro 2004 are the same as the English Premiership. Can you argue that statement? The reason that something is a yellow card in the bundesliga is because ref's interpret things differently, but the rules are exactly the same. That "phantom goal" and the fact that the match was replayed means that the German league acted on it's own, there are no rules or laws that mention that, UEFA will have advised them but there are no specific laws to say wether or not to replay a match if that happens. However the Bundesliga still follows the UEFA rules of the game, just like England, Holland and every other member of UEFA!
  6. We are talking about UEFA rules and the Football Association Rules, they are exactly the F'N same!!! Don't try and tell me different, all you've done is prove to me that bundesliga rules are different Kreisliga's. The rules of the UEFA European Championship are the same rules that apply to the English Football Association. Could you please tell me if the Kreisliga follows UEFA guidelines? Oh silly question, of course it doesn't. So could you please stop talking crap as UEFA and the FA do have the same rules, which is what the arguement in this topic was about. Whether or not the referee had the right to disallow a goal that according to UEFA (AND FIFA!!) guidelines should have been allowed. Finally, I have reffed in different countries before, Holland for example, yet again not at a big level, but don't go stating things without knowing full facts.
  7. Where exactly did I say that?? I said that Englands rules are exactly the same as UEFA's, which is true. TBH Matzat your just showing how childish you are by reacting like this. We're trying to have a debate about peoples different opinions, which tends to be the point of a message board. Grow up.
  8. LOL, you gotta love players who think they know more than referees. Believe it or not, the rules in England are exactly the same as UEFA rules. Which shows how much you know, I.E, Nothing. International refs do not get it right all the time and UEFA supporting Urs Meier was bound to happen simply due to the fact that football authorities always back up the referee's decision, right or wrong. Thats just how it is, like I said before, Meier would be expected to back up another ref if they made a poor call. Get a rule book, go on a local refs course to get a basic understanding of the rules and then come back to me. You will have changed your mind.
  9. You've heard two refs in this thread say that it was a goal. Read the whole thread. I find it funny how people ignore some info and listen to what they want to hear. Im sure i've done it in the past but this thread is such a perfect example.
  10. Im not trying to be a tit here but, you don't know what your talking about. I don't mean any disrespect by that, it's just that European teams, be it in the Bundesliga, Premier League, Serie A or whatever all follow UEFA guidelines, there's no such thing as one set of rules for International football and a different set for English football. If there were why would referee's from the English football league referee in Europe?
  11. I may be a small English ref Matzat but I get all rule modifications/additions from UEFA, I have also been on numerous courses. NOT ONCE has a rule ever been mentioned to state that goalkeepers have to be protected in the 6 yard box, fouls on the goalkeeper are just the same as anybody else on the field, you obviously can't obstruct nor push the goalkeeper..just like you can't dot that to any other player on the pitch. There are no specific rules or laws that state a goalkeeper needs to be protected. Secondly, the reason that UEFA and other referee's have come out in support of Meier is due to the fact that the authorities always support other referee's, it is expected that if another referee made a howler that Urs Meier would come out in support for them. Finally, to say that Ricardo was being obstructed is quite frankly..WRONG, he was not being obstructed, a player was stood next to him, John Terry was neither pushing or holding Ricardo back. If that is counted as obstruction that would mean players just aren't allowed to stand next to each other. Face it, England got a bad decision given against them that cost the match. It happens, I know that, however it doesn't make it any easier to take.
  12. Matzat, the goalkeeper does have to be protected, I 100% agree with that, but that basically means you can't challenge for a header in the 6 yard box if the goalkeeper is there, which is complete bullshit. Im a referee myself, I know what a tough job it can be and I know that you have to make split second decisions, HOWEVER disallowing the goal was a knee jerk reaction, it wasn't a considered thought. If Meier actually considered the decision I am almost certain he wouldn't of disallowed the goal. John Terry was stood on the line after challenging for a header, the goalkeeper could have made it to the ball but aswell as John Terry being there, there was also a Portugese defender blocking his route. It is ridiculous to disallow a goal for what was basically just a goal line scramble that you see in a lot of matches. Also I would like you to show me the specific rule that states that goalkeepers have to be protected by refs in there 6/18 yard box, as that law does not exist. Also to stereotype every English person like you did at the end is just as bad as how English people stereotype the Germans so don't gimme all the "English are ignorant blah blah" crap.
  13. We scored a goal in the dying minutes of the game that would have put us through to the semi final and made us clear favourites for the tournament but the referee disallowed the goal for no clear reason.
  14. Cantona one was definately Nike, he only ever wore Nike. I love the one where they had the smaller spaces - smaller ball thing. Where it had davids doing kick ups with a golf ball inside a toilet cubicle.
  15. So you wouldn't want to play against the champions of England? I know I would. I'd jump at the chance. Just like every player in the premiership will do.
  16. Of course people will want to play the "Invincibles", it's gonna be a lot tougher for Arsenal because people will treat the match like a cup final and as a chance to make a name for themselves. To say people will be scared of Arsenal is just plain wrong. People will know it is a tough game etc. But they will want to get out there and play the champions. Would you be scared if somebody asked you to get eleven players and play the champions?
  17. No the referee always decides how much time is added on, the fourth official just holds up a board to let people know how much time is going to be added on.
  18. Even if you do think that Scholes reached his peak a few seasons ago it does not mean he is over-rated. People rarely mention Scholes to say he is a good player etc. So how is he over-rated? Anyway, to say Scholes i part of Fegusons big fad is ridiculous. Scholes is in the Utd side because he deserves to be there, Ferguson does not let sentiment get in the way of success (See Hughes, Ince, Kanchelskis, Cole, Yorke, McClair). If Scholes wasn't worth his place in the side he wouldn't be there. Also how many times have you seen Scholes play this season before you go all Phsyco-analytical on him saying he's lashing out because he's playing badly. One game where he lashes out in frustration, how many times have we seen players do that - Every week! Pires and Scholes play in different positions, so thats a no pointer. Lampard has been better than Scholes this year, but would you rather have Nicky Butt, Joe Cole, Scott Parker or Paul Scholes in the England team? Because what your saying is that there are people outside of the England squad/team that are better than him. Which is purely ridiculous. Do you want to know what the French manager said about Paul Scholes? He's the only player in the whole tournament that he fears, he said that Scholes "has everything"....but you must know more than Jacques Santini.
  19. Please tell me how you can call Scholes over-rated. He doesn't get any awards, doesn't get any recognition from the media and isn't classed by many people as a world class player. Yet Scholes is one of the first names on the United and England team sheet, is an all-round good midfielder, he can score, tackle, create...he can do everything.
  20. Nistelrooy and Saha have barely played together. The signing of Smith can only be a good thing for Man Utd IMO, remember in 1999 they had Sheringham, Cole, Yorke and Solskjaer and they all were kept happy. So with Smith, Saha, Nistelrooy and Forlan/Possibly new striker...they have a good strike-force. I don't know why everybody writes Man Utd off so easily, Im certainly not, you can see Ferguson building a new squad. It's quite frightning to be honest, you are bound to have the odd hiccup when signing youngsters, but all the people that Ferguson has signed have potential...a "Cantona like" spark is all that's needed to set United off again.
  21. Who the FUCK voted for Paul Scholes....how the fuck is he even on the list!? Scholes is definately NOT over-rated. Under rated IMO. Scholes is one of the best players in the world.
  22. hmm.. Kevin Spacey Tom Hanks Elisha Cuthbert Al Pacino Samuel L Jackson
  23. This Charming Man is the best Smiths song IMO. But Jookie's right, if you like Morrissey's new album your going to love the Smiths.
  24. w00t!! Can't wait to go. The White Stripes only UK date this year!! Aswell as NFG and Greenday, Offspring, The Hives *Drools*
