Moore's Bond films could probably be re-edited as "The Saint on Her Majesty's Secret Service" thanks to how similarly he plays the characters. The Saint is awesome. His brief Clouseau portrayal too.

@Benji For me, every RTD era companion is bogged down by the fact that I really disliked the direction of the show at the time, made a little weirder by Torchwood being brilliant. It wasn't until Moffat took over that I felt I could relate the show to the original series and actually enjoy it. Before that it felt like a chore watching it for the sake of being a pre-revival fan.

Its possible that Bill will later slip back below Jack and Rory in my estimations but so far she seems to have a good trajectory and I can't see her falling lower than that.

Rose was pretty terrible.

Bill is already my favourite 21st century companion, which is excellent because its probably also been the strongest season so far and I was worried that she'd be terrible after I watched the very first trailer.

I mentioned this song to a friend of mine who likes the band and she says its ok because "they're being sarcastic". I'm not sure I quite got that vibe, personally.

Jim Dale as the Doctor would've been awesome.

Bernard Cribbins seems like he could've been an interesting one too.

I'm the same despite being British. Dimensions in Time has some novelty appeal to it but I've always considered Eastenders to be absolute garbage and the sketch itself feels a little rushed.

Every year the trailer successfully manages to pull together a few bits which make me interested in the upcoming series but eventually leads to feeling let down by the end of it all.

100% echo the love for the Curse of Fatal Death. Its been a favourite of mine since I became a huge Dr Who fan in the early 2000s. Easily my favourite Comic Relief sketch ever.

Quite a few games twice, most notably SvR07, Oblivion and Skyrim, and Sly 2 and 3 thanks to the Sly Collection, but they're all beaten out by The Godfather which I think I bought three times. Once on PS2, once on 360, and I'm fairly sure once on PS3.

The only contemporary things I watch are Dr Who and Rick and Morty.

Common Courtesy by A Day to Remember
Both Homesick and What Separates Me from You come close but I think I like every single song on this album and its always a good album to get me hyped up for the gym or going out for the night.

Fools and Worthless Liars by Deaf Havana
A lot of the songs on this album are about Norfolk and reminded me of home, and my then girlfriend, at a time when I'd just left for university in Canterbury. They quickly became one of my favourite bands for these reasons and she also became a fan as they reminded her of me once I'd introduced her to them, something which lasted through the entirety of our relationship for both of us. We even saw them play a live unplugged set in one of the HMVs in Norwich when they were promoting their next album. It became very difficult for me to listen to this album and Old Souls after we broke up but I was able to get back into them through their much heavier debut album, Meet Me Halfway, At Least, and can now listen to the two albums I associate with my ex without it causing any problems. This makes me pretty happy because I really like new material and I'm going to see them live again after my birthday next month.

We Are The Others by Delain
The first two Delain albums were good but this is the first one I considered great. It was during the promotional tour for this album that I first saw them live and was probably the first real "couple" thing I did with my ex. The title track essentially continues to define the way I look at the rock society at the UEA, which has been the source of most of my friends post-breakup.

Elliot Minor by Elliot Minor
Back in the days when my music tastes were a lot lighter I'm fairly certain this was the first album I ever bought, from the HMV in Covent Garden, when I was visiting London with my mum for a reason which escapes me. Its probably the first new "Kerrang-ish" thing I listened to since my childhood growing up listening to a lot of the late 90s-early 2000s stuff back when the songs played on the channel were still based on viewers calling in.

A Flash Flood of Colour by Enter Shikari
Take to the Skies was released a month after my 13th birthday and was my first experience with the band but this was the first Shikari album to be released when they'd become one of my favourites. I think the fact that their songs are often politically inspired is part of the reason why I like them so much.

Enemy of the World by Four Year Strong
It was a close call between this album and In Some Way, Shape, or Form but the earlier album wins out thanks to synth player leaving the band.

Chasing the Grail by Fozzy
Although I think I prefer Sin and Bones, which is eligible, I think this album was a lot more influential in making Fozzy one of my favourite bands regardless of their lead singer being a wrestler. One of my favourite things each time I see them live is the huge smile on Chris Jericho's face when the 'Y2J' chants slowly become 'Fozzy' chants as their set progresses.

See The Light by Less Than Jake
I recently had a discussion with a friend of mine who believes that this is the best LTJ album. I conceded that it is the most consistent album but that Hello Rockview is better. Unfortunately that came out when I was 4 so it doesn't count here. Ska punk is something which I heavily associate with sunnyness and my time in California (a few months after my teenage years but probably the best time of my life), mostly because the genre has its roots in Orange County where I was based, and works very well in conjunction with good weather to raise my spirits. The effects aren't quite as great at this time of year but it still works a little on clear winter days.

The Incredible Machine by Sugarland
A bit of an outlier in my music tastes being a country duo in a sea of punk and metal but I really got into this album after seeing the music video for Stuck Like Glue on TV, and it quickly led to me owning their entire album catalogue bar a Christmas album.

Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace
One-X would've been here instead but it was released when I was 12. It got me through a lot of angst during my last 2 years at high school.

Special mention to Hits by New Found Glory which is a compilation album consisting entirely of songs released before I was a teenager, but I credit this album with pulling me back into pop punk and in turn leading me towards ska punk. These two genres have made up a large part of my music taste for several years now.

Shout outs to Alien Ant Farm, Blink 182, Bowling for Soup, Cascada, The Feeling, Goldfinger, Good Charlotte, Green Day, Linkin Park, Lost Prophets, The Offspring, Panic! at the Disco, Papa Roach, Reel Big Fish, Rise Against, Save Ferris, and Sum 41, all of whom released albums (and the majority of their most well known songs) which influenced my childhood and teenage years before I became a teenager.

Delain and Sabaton are two of my favourite bands whom I've seen live multiple times. Nightwish are probably well known enough that I don't need to say much about them, but their evolution as a result of three different singers is very interesting. Northern Kings are Finnish super band including Nightwish's Marco Hietala and really just do covers of well known songs. Skameleon are also a cover band. Broilers are probably the most obscure band I've named and I'm not really even sure how I discovered them beyond somehow on YouTube.

Between Enter Shikari, Bowling For Soup, Less Than Jake, and Reel Big Fish I already thought this year's Slam Dunk was looking perfect but it somehow just became even better with the announcements of Tonight Alive, Goldfinger, and Against Me!. I was excited for it before but now I don't think I can wait over four months for that lineup.

I've heard rumours that this might be the next regeneration's costume design...

Ended up with an average of 11 days from 2015. I recognised 36 names from 2016 compared with 23 from 2015. Obviously its very subjective and, as Gazz rightly pointed out, I can't be bothered to do a more scientific test.

I just did the maths and worked out that someone Wikipedia-worthy whose name I recognise has died every 9.9 days on average. This has also brought to my attention several deaths this year which fell under the radar for me; Merle Haggard, Phyllis Schlafly, Alexis Arquette, and Janet Reno.

Will report back with a 2015 comparison later.

I've been looking forward to this as soon as I heard it was announced. Saw the trailer this morning and it looks good so far. It has a lot to live up to in terms of the original and the book it's being loosely based upon, but I think the combination of the original cast and Danny Boyle at the helm won't leave me disappointed.

Back in middle school and high school I used to get a lot of flak for being a Chelsea fan despite my dad having sat in the Shed End throughout the 1970s and having visited Stamford Bridge myself (thought admittedly barely remembering it) in 1999. The "glory hunter" accusations just felt like sore loser comments from people who lumped me in with the sudden appearance of more Chelsea "fans" in the 04/05 season when the Blues were running away with the league and Norwich were probably heading straight back down to the newly formed Championship, which they did. Since I lost most interest in football I haven't really cared as much since I can barely relate to the players any more, though I still appreciate those sweet victories over Liverpool. I actually cared more about Leicester winning the league last year because of Ranieri and Huth representing the early end of my Chelsea era (02-09) than either of the last two title wins under Ancelotti and Mourinho.

A lot of locals support Norwich and a Premiership team because, despite spending six seasons in the top flight during my lifetime, its really obvious that they aren't good enough to be put in that group. The secondary team thing is actually pretty evenly split between the teams you'd expect, but its only the ones who went with Spurs who are geographically justified. The ones that I really hate conveniently jumped between Man Utd and Arsenal a few times throughout high school. Even the guy who admitted to always supporting whoever was top when he was a kid, before being issued an ultimatum by his dad and sticking with the top team at the time (Liverpool), was better than that. Then there's just this lucky bastard who supported Man City and always had the pissed ripped out of him until the money came in. Not sure why he did but at least it was some variety.

You also get a few people nearby who support Ipswich for various reasons; be it people from just over the Suffolk border, doing it mostly just to annoy Norwich fans, or my mum who was invited to watch Ipswich in the late 80s with her flatmates.

In terms of American sports I go with the Raiders because that who my mum supported when she followed the NFL. Even though the Rams have moved back to LA I think I'll stick with the 1995 black and silver jerseys I have in my wardrobe. MLB-wise I used to go with the Phillies since they were the team I always played as on The Bigz 2 because they were the reigning World Series winners and I ended up becoming familiar with most of the team. Since I studied at UC Irvine, however, they've been replaced by the nearby Angels even though I didn't get a chance to see them, surprisingly because of Mad Cow disease. Since they're in different leagues I can still hope that the two might end up facing each other in the World Series, and basically get to keep the Phillies as my NL backup.

This game would likely be the tipping point to actually making me want to get a PS4. Uncharted 4 and Arkham Knight are the only current gen exclusives I'm actually interested in after the underwhelming nature of Battlefront and No Man's Sky.

THPS1 is definitely one of the biggest influences from my childhood which led to my current music tastes.

Stoker finishing his Hexagon diary makes me want to do one even though I already have 3 uni assignments coming up, my WAW ThunderDome diary, a daily commitment to write for the WAW website, and work to consider.

EDIT - Oh, and my Nuzlocke diary to finish and an existing San Marino challenge on FM12 which is still way behind where I got to before I swapped laptops and lost my save.

I've heard "Bored To Death" a few times on rotation on Kerrang. It seems better than most of the songs they've put out since the 00s mainstream popularity of pop punk started to wane, they now sound a little outdated compared to what I guess should be called their successors.

I agree that she seemed very annoying. I liked the 80s throwback aesthetics though, both the scenery and her clothing seemed very fresh in a bizarre retro way.
