  1. the Earthgift Shrine is optional. Don't worry about it. Just get yourself killed and you'll come back outside the shrine with 1 HP. You will probably have needed to gotten near the end to have a chance. My weaponry and armor wasn't even putting a dent in the Cerberus. I'll be coming back there after I get my 3rd crystal and some better weapons/armor.

  2. I may be interested, but it's been a long time since I last played Dungeons and Dragons. I'd say it was about 10 years ago the last time I played. I'll google the current rules and see if I can make sense of it all. I'll probably end up just winging it and hope whatever the hell I do is within the rules and stuff. <_<

AIM is the same as my username here (Magus978). If you need a glorified meatshield, I'm game.

Gonna take on the Earthgift Shrine before I go on for the second crystal. Lich was easy considering I pretty much grinded the fuck out of things. Had my fighters attack while my white mage cast heal, and black mage cast haste on the fighters, then thundara'd the hell out of it. Easy victory. Next challenge please :P

EDIT: I was whamboozled by one of the shrine's bosses, Cerberus. Luckily, in these shrines, you reappear outside with 1 HP left. It's not total game over. Now to get to the 2nd crystal.
  4. I couldn't resist, so I'm in on this too. Here's where I'm at so far.

Found a decent training spot northeast of Pravoka, at the tip of the continent. If you get into an encounter at the very tip of it, you'll face enemies like the Minotaur Zombie, Troll, Ice Wolves. They're tough and can overwhelm a weak party, but if you get lucky and beat them, you'll get some big experience, invaluable at this stage of the game. :)

EDIT: Forgot the spoiler tags. There we go. :P

  5. Favourite All-Round Character: Sephiroth (VII)

    Favourite Hero: Edgar (VI)

    Favourite Villain: Chaos (I)

    Favourite Story: FFVII

    Best Character: Cecil (IV)

    Best Hero: Cloud (VII)

    Best Villain: Sephiroth (VII)

    Best Story: VII

I'd play along, but I'm a dirty cheater who will not hesitate to pull Game Genie codes out of my ass if I need to survive, so I won't. :P

EDIT: I'll play along when we get to Final Fantasy IV, but I'll handicap myself by doing a Cecil-only run. I've tried several, but could not get very far without cheating :(

  6. Just bought FIFA 09 for the PC. Ready and willing to be massacred by ANY of you :P

Magus978's my name on there...add it, block it, laugh at it...do whatever :shifty:

  7. Won't this take away the gamble of "was that a red card challenge or not?" if it's 3D?

When it's two dots hovering over each other it could be anything, and with a possible FA fine for getting the wrong answer it can make or break the end of the season.

gamble? In FM2008 the ref was NEVER wrong according to the FA.

Not necessarily: I've criticized every ref decision that has gone against me in my games, and I'd say about 25-35% of the time, the FA have been silent over my criticism. Of course, that's just me dicking around and trying to see if I can get a ref fired. :P

  8. Starting a new game where I take a job in the 2nd season...hoping to get a job with a relegated team in England, or a recently promoted Blue Square North/South team. Not much out there, but there's the Oldham job in League One. Not sure if I want to go for the Oldham job and try to lead them back to the top flight for the first time since '93, or if I want to wait for a promoted BSN/BSS team.

  9. That's cause Man City are always going to have more money than you no matter what. :)

5-0. Bianchi burned us for 5. I'm stunned. Manchester City have no right beating us, their team is inferior to us in so many ways. I am just baffled by the inconsistency of my goddamn squad. First 10-9, then this...how can we beat these bastards? We're 0-3-1 against them since coming up to the Premiership, and it's just getting embarassing how we find new ways to fall on our faces everytime we see'em.

*EDITED for Censorship. Apologies if I'm setting people off with my replies, but I'm just baffled as to how we can be good against everyone else, yet bad against Manchester City.*

Very funny with the thread description guys...very classy :P

  10. I was asking a question, that's all. If it really didn't matter, you wouldn't have been so defensive.

Fair enough. Yes, I am cheating a little (money), but that's it. Money can't buy me wins against Manchester City it seems. They're kicking my ass 2-0 right now after 45 mins.

  11. so Magus is cheating, yeah?

Does it matter? I'm enjoying my game, and I have other games where I'm not cheating. Sorry if my cheating bothers you, but it's really no skin off my back.

Besides, it's not like I'm actually winning ALL my games. If I was, THEN it would be full blown cheating.

  12. Short answer: your defence isn\'t as good as you think it is.

Perhaps, but I don\'t understand how it can be this bad. One of the problems I have is that the CPU catches onto my tactics so fast, so I\'m pretty much switching every 4-5 matches. I also have a seperate set of tactics I use for away matches.

Looks like I may have found a temporary fix to my problem: Take a lead, then go ultra-defensive and play Rangers-like football. I suck at changing tactics in mid-match, and usually don\'t unless I\'m behind. Helped me grab a shock 2-1 win over Liverpool, the very same team we beat on the final day of last season to secure Champions League football :P

The General: The skin is called Asesino. It\'s supposedly a tribute to the Hand of God goal by Diego Maradona. All I really did was put it in my C:\\Users\\*User Name*\\Documents\\Sports Interactive\\Football Manager 2008\\skins

Also, my preferred formation (4-1-2-1-2) and the team that beat Liverpool in my last match

Jose Antonio Reyes ----- Klaas-Jan Huntelaar

    Raul Garcia

Rio Antonio Mavuba ----- Diego Souza

    Miguel Veloso

Kieran Lee ------- Lucio ----- Sergio Ramos ------- Daniel Alves

    Igor Akinfeev

  13. With people talking about 07 and 08 in here, I think this should become the all-purpose Football Manager thread, not just 09.

Anyway, since I'm here, I may as well talk about my game with Queens Park Rangers.

3rd Season, Champions League bound :D

Finished 4th in the Premiership after finishing 2nd in the Championship in my first season. Grabbed the final Champions League spot with an epic 2-0 win at Anfield. We also won the FA Cup at Wembley 3-2 over Manchester United. Teddy Lucic (who is now a coach with me) had the cup-winner. Probably gonna stay at QPR until I win the title, then move on. Preferably to Italy or Germany.

EDIT: I just lost a 4th Round Carling Cup match 10-9. TEN-NINE. WHAT THE HELL?!? I shouldn't be losing matches at all! I have the best players in the world, quality tactics, and I'm getting my ass kicked on the road. How the hell does ANYONE win matches away from home? I can't make this crap up. We followed up by winning 3-1 at home against Birmingham, but I'm still fuming over that game.
