  1. No sympy, when Lee Clark is their manager. That said, great comeback by Watford. Best team I've seen at Hillsborough this season by far (and that includes Bournemouth, Ipswich and Derby).
  2. What a great day of cup football. Great results for Bradford and Boro, in particular satisfying to see Man City knocked out after they squeaked past us in the last round. Not quite sure it will match up to the 2008 heights of unpredictability when you had three Championship teams and Portsmouth in the semis, but there's a great chance for some of the less heralded teams to get to Wembley.
  3. Finished up as 439/2. State of Dwayne Smith's bowling, going for 68 off four overs.
  4. Great result and performance away at Forest yesterday. As poor as they were, Wednesday played very well and should have scored four or five. Four points off the playoffs, don't see us getting there however as a) we don't score anywhere near enough and b) the squad's pretty small compared to most of the other sides in and around there.
  5. Was at the Etihad yesterday. Damn shame to concede the goal right at the end but what a performance by Wednesday. Put the Carling Cup nightmare to rest and hopefully the performance can act as a springboard for a strong finish to the league season.
  6. Sat in 2nd place with Hertha at the November international break, level on points with Dortmund but ahead of them on goal difference, and five points behind league leaders Bayern Munich. Only lost at home to Bayern (2-0, didn't play too badly) and got thumped 4-0 away at Hoffenheim early on, however have dished out a couple of beatings to Werder (4-0) and Frank Rijkaard's Hannover (5-0, Kalou scoring a hat-trick ). Through to the DFB Pokal third round where Dortmund lie in wait which will probably end the cup run. Kalou leads the scoring chart on 10, he and Stocker have been a great forward pairing. Anis Ben Hatira's had a whinge about not getting in the team so he's been banished to the seconds and offered to all clubs - no-one biting for a January move yet.
  7. Figured as it's the New Year I'd start this off on the first day of the year. 1. Less Than Jake - Borders and Boundaries 2. Metz - Metz 3. Best Coast - Crazy For You Borders and Boundaries was an old favourite from way back in the day that I haven't listened to for a good few years. Forgot just how much I liked LTJ back in the day. Often people talk about Hello Rockview being their best album but for me this tops it. Metz's album is pretty good - sounds like Japandroids and Unsane's bastard offspring, with a hint of Nirvana's Bleach. Crazy for You is a good half-hour or so listen, but best served in the summer.
  8. Decent away win at Wigan that. Great to see Nuhiu get a goal, often gets pilloried by some sections of our support but works tirelessly up front. Shame about Drenthe's loan spell not being extended, by the sounds of it he's signing for a club in China.
  9. Picked this up yesterday and started a game with Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga. Beat some Italian jobbers 5-0 in my first friendly, had to cancel over half of them as they'd booked twelve for me to start with. Players would be wrecked before pre-season! Signed David Marshall from Cardiff on an initial loan to replace the starting keeper who's attracting interest from Bremen (going to cash in) and Piotr Trochowski on a free in midfield. Got snubbed by Bernard Parker who would have been a solid addition. Expected 15th finish but aiming for the top ten at least.
  10. Man City away. Hoping this time we keep the score down, unlike our League Cup meeting this year.
  11. Tiago Monteiro's podium celebrations at the end of that "race" were pure gold. Schumacher and Rubens couldn't wait to get off the podium but Monteiro stayed to soak up the adulation of the fans. Also, massive shame for Marussia. Wonder if Gene Haas will reconsider his plans for 2016 given what's happened to the three newer teams in recent years?
