  1. He is on the Caps, and he did an interview at second intermission. He has, however, been invisible on the ice for them. What's his point line like? 1+2 or something? Oh, and I think everyone should've seen this coming. A team already being lazy and generally not relying on anyone but a couple of 21 year olds to score for them finally gets their captain, leader, and best player back. So naturally, everyone decides to be even lazier because hey, now there's the captain to score for them. SUNDIN CAN'T DO EVERYTHING, JERKS. They gave this one away with stupid penalties and just over-all terrible play. Caps came out to do some damage, Leafs just were not prepared for it.
  2. Right now, it's Steen and Stajan and Belfour.. and then a bunch of guys who are unmotivated and lazy.
  3. Thanks Clawson, but that's been my background for a couple of months already Leafs played like absolute shit on Saturday. I turned it on and it was 2-0, and then I laughed when Brian McGrattan beat up Tie Domi, and then I laughed some more when the Sens kept scoring. Quite an awful, awful game. Sens were good, though. I like how Murray gave the third and fourth lines more playing time during the end of the game, to avoid running up the score, but it just didn't work. The Leafs were just too bad. Lines were juggled in practice today. The Kids Line [the only decent line from Saturday] was broken up. Steen and Stajan will still play together, but now will be centered by Allison. Tucker will be re-united with 03/04 linemate Tie Domi with Wellwood in the center. Lindros will be centering O'Neill and Ponikarovsky, and Wilm will likely center Kilger and BELAK. On defence, with Berg returning, he will most likely be paired with Kronwall, while KhavaKlee and McCaberle will be reused. I also heard that Perrott was sent down [and thus placed on waivers], and let me just say, THANK FUCK. The guy is an enforcer, yet he fails to do ANYTHING related to the job. He doesn't hit, he doesn't fight, he doesn't take one for the team.. he's the anti-Domi.
  4. Toivonen was spectacular for Boston, while Tellqvist was almost equal to the challenge for Toronto. Toronto had to come out with full guns blazing and try to catch Boston off-guard, however we just basically sat back and let them dictate the pace of the first period, which was bad news. My boy Belak got into his first fight this year, and it was a doozy. He also came back later on and played a decent game. His passing was better, he wasn't caught out of position, and he stopped Joe Thornton more than once. I didn't really notice our defence otherwise. Aki Berg made a couple of stupid plays, but nobody else really stood out, offensively or defensively, as either playing good or bad. McCabe and Kaberle were out for most of the Leafs PPs and neither could muster anything in the way of a true scoring chance. I'm going to credit Boston's penalty kill for knowing exactly who the "go-to" guys were on the point, and just how lethal they were. The Boston PKers did a great job of containing the McCaberle pairing. Eric Lindros had another solid game. Ponikarovsky and Czerkawki showed a lot of chemistry, though neither has any finish. And what the fuck was Czerkawski thinking on that breakaway? He never passes. EVER. EVER! So when he's in all alone, he stops and waits for someone to catch up before passing it to him. WHAT THE HELL?! It was an even game, but Boston's goalie Toivonen was the difference. I'm Jeremy Crowe, reporting for EWB Leafs News. [good?] Now let's kick some Senators ass!!!
  5. Agreed with the leadblowing, but damn, I almost had a heart attack during overtime!!! Sure, Eddie made 50 saves, but some of those goals were just horrible. And again, NO DEFENCE. NO DEFENCE. NO DEFENCE. We really need a workhorse defensive defenceman up in here. Khavanov, Klee and Berg are NOT it, McCabe is a liability, and Kaberle sometimes forgets he's supposed to be playing defence, I think. Rumours are STILL going nuts that Brendan Witt will be brought in, but I just can't see that happening if it hasn't already. Plus, Washington will likely ask for a prospect back, and honestly, losing any of our prospects right now would be nuts I think. Oh, and apparently the Pens are interested, and getting into a bidding war with them is not a good idea for us. Let's find someone else!
  6. I will agree that Wade definately needs to be taken off the defence. BUT, Kronwall sucks, and is looking terrible for the Marlies. I think his pre-season was purely a fluke. And Cola is injured. So.. there goes that idea. His -4 was mostly from that game where he was paired with Berg. In fact, all -4 of his game has been from a pairing with Berg. When he's been with Khavanov, he's been better. Both Berg and Belak need someone to cover for their mistakes, so playing with each other is a bad idea. But Berg has once again been half-way decent with Klee while Belak has looked respectable with Khavanov [and played better than Khavanov in one of their games together]. So yeah, Berg + Belak = terrible. Berg + Klee = good. Belak + Khavanov = passable. The end. Edit: Oh, and that game vs Carolina, the entire defensive corps was bad. Klee was decent, McCabe was good, but the other four were bad -> really bad. Belak's two penalties were uncalled for [though it's not as if he's the only fucking player in the universe to ever take a bad penalty this year, although with the way you idiots go on about him, it's LIKE it is], Kaberle made some terrible reads and helped lead to two break-aways, Berg was blah [even though he made a couple of decent plays], and Khavanov was non-existant. Belfour was also not on the top of his game, though he made a couple of big saves. Anyway, Colorado 7 - 0 Edmonton at the second intermission. It's being called "The Worst Edmonton Game EVER!" which is uh, a big statement. Terrible play! Hejduk gets his first two goals in his first game of the year. Conklin and Markkanen allow 7 goals on 27 shots. Ouch. Oh, and Eric Boulton sucks.
  7. Belak was not as terrible as you insinuate, of course, but for Belak to have a "decent" game by most of your books, I'm assuming he's going to have to score all the goals himself as well as get both assists on them as well as play net and stop 40 shots. Then maybe he will get some credit. While he didn't have a good game, and took a couple of bad penalties, he made a few good plays, and had that two-on-one rush with Jason Allison, which is something I've never seen from him before. 'Course, they blew it, but that wasn't necessarily his fault.
  8. Spoke a bit too soon, wow. Pujols is the fucking man, even though I hate his ass and his team.
  9. No sooner had I entered my vote [Astros in 5] then Berkman hit a three-run home run to make it 4-2 'Stros in the bottom of the 7th. GO 'STROS.
  10. I really hate that the Leafs won't get to play teams in the West for up to three years, but the rivalry games are a lot of fun and will create big atmosphere later int he season, when every win against guys in you own division could count big time towards play-off standings and home-ice advantage. And glad you see things my way, SDM.
  11. He was trying to shove the ref out of the way, and they both lost their balance. That's more than "incidental contact" and was the true reason he should've been suspended. While the elbow on Lindros was dirty, it wasn't too horrible and not worthy of a suspension. Boulton deserves at least a one gamer for coming in contact with a ref, be it accidental or not.
  12. There ya go, from the mouth of a boy who's played for Hartley Okay, here's the deal: The Leafs are not saints. Tucker is a pest who has done cheap shots in the past [Michael Peca!], Domi is an enforcer who's taken MANY cheap shots in the past [uLF]. Leafs fans are like the fans of ANY OTHER TEAM who would have reacted THE EXACT SAME FUCKING WAY IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE. You put the Flyers out there and have Atlanta do what they did to Philly, and you can damn sure bet Sean would be calling for the head of Andy Sutton. You put the Sens out there, you bet Grapehead would be hoping for the death penalty. It's a natural fucking reaction. And while I don't like Darcy Tucker, Andy Sutton deserves to be suspended for that hit. Grabbing Tucker's head and forcefully shoving into the board while disguising it as riding him out is fucking pathetic, ESPECIALLY from someone like Sutton, who has a known history of cheap shots. Jason Allison would know about this, since it's a Sutton cheap shot which begat his injury woes in LA to begin with. Domi was on the ice already when Boulton threw the elbow. Boulton and Exelby had been throwing big hits [some would say questionable, I would say hard and heavy] all night, and had been looking to start something with both Belak and Domi [both pairs were seen having words at various points during the game]. Boulton's elbow was most likely trying to gaud Domi into a fight, rather than trying to kill Lindros. Domi's crosscheck to the face was uncalled for, as a simple shove and drop of the gloves would've worked. However, the actions of Garnet Exelby out of this are what truly disgusts me. Grabbing Domi from behind and holding him for Boulton to take cheap shots is just fucking pathetic. Basically, while I believe the Leafs were on the receiving end of some cheap shots, no one was seriously hurt, save for Tucker's stitches, and it was really just a lot of fun to watch. It's not as if hockey is a game void of any cheap shots outside of Bob Hartley to begin with, and it's especially not like the Leafs have never done this before. But for anyone to say, "Oh there goes those Leafs fans whining again" take into consideration if this was your team. You know that you'd be all over the Thrashers and Hartley for this. So kindly shut the fuck up. Oh, and SDM, Toronto is hardly a team of old men this year. Granted, our goalie is fucking ancient, and Domi is getting up there, but otherwise, everyone is 34 or under, with Steen, Stajan, Wellwood under 22, and Tucker, Kaberle, Berg, Belak, Kilger, Wilm, Tellqvist, Pilar, Ponikarovsky, Antropov, O'Neill all under 30, and Allison at 30. Sundin [34], Domi [36], Czerkawski [35], Belfour [40], Lindros [32], Klee [34] are our only guys 31 or more. ..whereas your boys in Philly have Hatcher, Rathje, Therien, Desjardins, Savage, Forsberg, Knuble, Brashear, and Stevenson at 31 or more. So uh shut up twice
  13. You are all faggots. And none of you know hockey. PS. Belak is sucking a lot of dick this year. Playing him as a defenceman is a BAD SCENE. VERY, VERY BAD SCENE. BAD! Quinn is DUMB. And still none of you know what the fuck you're talking about. I agree with all of the flack for shootouts, but I still think they're fun. We need to let Czerkawski take a fucking shot for Christ's sake. HE'S A GOD DAMN GOALSCORER. IT'S ALL HE CAN DO. WHY WILL NOT YOU LET HIM SHOOT, QUINN? Quinn = bad.
  14. Why is this thread dying, god damnit? Let's get some predictions for the season! I'm thinking Pittsburgh and Philly in the Eastern Conference finals, and darkhorses Phoenix and Calgary in the Western Conference, with perhaps a Philly - Calgary finals, and Philly taking the win. I see Ottawa in the play-offs, though I am having a hard time seeing Toronto in them. Oh, and I noticed a few pages ago SDM called Alex Zhamnov a defenceman - and then started spouting defensive traits of his. This would be all nice and good, but ZHAMNOV IS A FORWARD. Zhitnik is a defenceman, maybe you confused them. Anyway, Zhamnov is overrated but when he's on - he is ON like Donkey Kong. And to those who criticized the Bruins, I think you're all wrong. They will definately be a play-off team, and could possibly go very deep. Thornton, Murray will still be solid, and with Leetch and Gonchar patrolling the blue line, you can expect heavy point production. Defensive defenceman are their weak point, but Hal Gill is a damn monster and will help a lot, as will Nick Boynton. Izzy and Scatchard will probably man the third line [maybe fourth for Izzy] and both will definately cause some damage. They're not there to score points; they're there to grind, they're DEFENSIVE forwards. I also think Vancouver could go deep, by the way. Adding Anson Carter, the return of Bertuzzi, and so on and so forth could really help them.
  15. I uh just saw this now, but fuck you again Clawson SDM was right about Wellwood. While he's been a proven AHL scorer - so are guys like Sarno and Gamache and Darren Haydar and Davig "Bling Bling" Ling. However, when they come up to the NHL, they suck. The thing with Welly is, he's not a great skater, he is barely adequate defensively [in the AHL!], his shot isn't strong. He has GREAT vision, his skating has improved [but is still not what it should be for someone so tiny], his passing is amazing, and he's a great stickhandler. However, with his size and the fact that his over-all game hasn't improved all that much since he's been in the AHL, there's absolutely no reason for him to come to the NHL and rot on the third line getting no powerplay time or true development time. The NHL is NOT a place for someone to learn defence. Belak is in the NHL because he's a reliable hitter and fighter who will stick up for his teammates, beat the shit out of some people to stir up a crowd, and is not afraid to lay it all on the line. Will he score? No. Will he get assists? Not likely. Will he take a shitload of PIM? Yes. Will he DO WHAT HE IS ASKED TO DO? You most definately know it. If Belak was ASKED to go out and produce points, he would not be able to. But that's not what he's ASKED to do. He's an enforcer. Every good team should have one - Belak just happens to be GREAT at enforcing and hitting and bad at everything else. I don't understand what's so hard to see about all of this. New Jersey has Darren Langdon AND Krysysysyaytofffff Oliwa, and yet no one is saying SHIT about them, even though Belak could smoke 'em both [well, Langdon is iffy, but he's taken out Oliwa]. Besides, the Leafs have no depth. What are their lines AS OF THIS MOMENT? Best possible scenario for me is: ____ - Sundin - Lindros Tucker - Allison - O'Neill Ponikarovsky - Antropov - Stajan/Domi Belak - Kilger/Stajan - Domi/Kilger Kaberle - McCabe Klee - Berg Khavanov - ____ And who else would you put there? Wellwood with Poni and Antropov? Yeah, why don't you just make a line of overrated [by Quinn] forwards! Or maybe we can have him center Belak and Domi! Yeah, that'd make a lot of sense. What are you, nuts? --- Anyway, onto other matters: I'm glad the Pens are doing something this year, but my infatuation with them being lovable losers is over. Washington is far too pathetic for me to vest an interest in, so I guess I'll have to settle for Toronto and Calgary. I just heard that Roman Hamrlik signed there - so expect Toni Lydman to be traded shortly, unless they go nuts and trade a defensive defenceman [although .. they just re-signed them all, so that'd make them REALLY nuts]. I also heard that Toronto signed Mikael Samuelsson, but uh, that might be for the farm team rather than the big club, since he's sort of an iffy kinda guy, NHL-wise. Thornton back in Boston, with all of their re-signings, is going to be scary. They're one of the few teams who looks basically the same as the last season, with a few great additions, in Leetch, Zhamnov, Scatchard, and McEachern. They really haven't lost anyone of value outside of Gonchar, Knuble, and Rolston, but their signings make up for that. Go Boston. I'm excited for hockey, and it's fucking August! WOOOOO. Oh, and Clawson, when did Rick the Temp change his name and become a hockey player?
  16. Nu-metal bands tend to use lower than drop-D. Mudvayne, for instance, use drop-B on six strings, while Korn use drop-A, amazingly, on some of their songs. silverchair use drop-D and standard.. Deftones use drop-D on a couple of songs. .hopesfall. use drop-D [if you're into that].
  17. I thought it was a good "Holy shit!" moment. I certainly said so. The sad thing is, I was just starting to like her, too. She was looking fine in that episode.
  18. London and Rimouski was awesome, Ottawa and Kelowna was a bit slower but still full of holy shit moments. I still don't know who won, though, I tuned out after the first overtime.
  19. I think Czech is playing better as a team than Canada. Canada has just not done enough to give me faith in their medal-winning abilities. So I hope Canada wins, but if they don't, it won't be a surprise.
  20. Nash won't win the MVP for the simple reason of his abuse of the officials. That was some inexcusable bullshit he pulled, and he needs to be reprimanded in SOME way for it - not allowing him the tourney MVP that everyone thinks he has coming to him would be a good way to do it. This is, of course, assuming Canada makes it to the finals.
  21. I may be the only one, but I was anxiously awaiting the tourney so I could finally get some real hockey fix. Unfortunately, it's been mostly disappointing, with some fucking atrocious games, excitement-wise, and a poor showing from practically every team, including Canada. Mostly, I put Canada's problems with the fact that 2/3 of the team haven't skated/played pro in almost a year. Only 8 of the 25 players have actually played pro at some level this year. Lots of rust. But today, the actual medal rounds started. Canada took out Slovakia in a fucking amazing game, pure excitement from the opening whistle to the end of the game. Also, the Czech Republic just took out the US 3-2, even with Rick DiPietro's absolutely brilliant performance in net for the States. Another great game, lots and lots of chances. So is anyone else watching, and if so, who are your favourites and who do you think will win?
  22. I thought it was quite boring, and though some parts were amusing, it wasn't very good on the whole. I've read just the first book. Had I never read the books, a few things may have passed over my head, as some of the characters recited their names or purposes in muffled tones, making it harder to hear. The actors were cast well and the acting is good, but the movie itself isn't great.
  23. Ragging on someone because they don't play complicated music is kinda stupid. Who's to say that they CAN'T? They just choose not to, because they've sold all of their albums and made all of their fans playing crappy three-chord garbage. And Travis Barker is far from a great drummer. He's decent, and can bust out the moves far better than some other guys, but by no means is he more than "okay" or even "good". He's far too repetitive and his fills are far too standard to be considered more than that. I agree with whoever said Ryan from Mudvayne was good. Matt is also good, but again, not great. He's better than Travis Barker, though. I'd actually put Chad as the weakest member of that group. His voice has deteriorated a lot since the LD50 days, and his lyrics are terrible now, whereas before they were at least slightly thought provoking in certain places. Now they're just standard, run-of-the-mill crap. That's all I can think of now.
