  1. Bill still has people left from his last list, should we just hand him one of them and move on?

I don't have his list in front of me but if it it feeds a need on his team I don't see why not.

    Bill gets RP Carlos Marmol.

    damshow's up.

EDIT: And yes, tomorrow night's good for a finish on my end.

  2. Lets finish this round today so we have a couple of days to fill out the rosters through waivers.

Sounds like waving the white flag, as a live finish would be much preferable.

Either way, we could have gotten started if you'd made a pick just now. ^_^

  3. This late, there aren't too many other potential big bangers, which I'll need in case Hosmer and Napoli aren't what they're supposed to be.

I could have waited for some dude like Mark Reynolds, but I'd rather not suffer through all of his 5-for-30, 3 HR weeks.

  4. 24 hours since last pick.

Midget gets C Miguel Montero to fill his Util spot.

    Dragsy: SP Jordan Zimmermann

Eddie G: RF Andre Ethier (Util spot)

Srar: SP Michael Pineda, leaving her with one pitching spot left.

9 to 5: LF Logan Morrison

Hickey: CF Chris Young and SP Ricky Romero (Bastard. I was pondering Romero.)

    9 to 5: 1B Ike Davis

    Srar: CF Cameron Maybin

    Eddie G: 1B Ryan Howard

    Dragsy: SS Alexei Ramirez

    Midget: 2B Jason Kipnis

These weren't strictly ranking order, as no one received a player that would go straight to their bench.

    Lowerdeck's back up.

  5. Highest ranked player for Midget's pick is Miguel Montero, unless he's got another list submitted.

Sahyder, it might help if you forward me some of these lists, because my schedule during the week is pretty regular and it's not difficult for me to keep up with these picks. If Midget's list is in, we can knock out a dozen picks immediately and get right back to Lowerdeck.

  6. So, who's actually going to keep making their picks?

The way I understand it, we have Lowerdeck, me, Sahyder, and damshow who have expressed that they would rather make their own. I'm guessing Midget's on that list as well, since we stopped with him?

  7. Bulk of the games start on the 4th right? I will be on for most of the night. It is DVR catch up night for me so I will be around if enough people are here to do it. Surely we can find some time frame between now and then where a bunch of us can do it. In the meantime lets keep making picks here.

Translation: Nobody's drafting any A's or Mariners anyway, right? :D

EDIT: It's either finish drafting tonight or skip the entire first week and start scoring games on the 9th, according to this.

Grr. Missed that. Yahoo used to let you get stats retroactively. I guess we're starting on the 9th then?

Retro stats are available for roto leagues or point-based H2H. Since we're straight H2H, we don't have that option.

Since I have a good amount of time during the day, want me to keep monitoring the picks for the "go by the rankings" people, like in the post I put up earlier?

  9. Edit: Somehow I skipped the MSN suggestion earlier. I'm up for doing that tonight whether it is here on the board, MSN,twitter, e-mail chain, whatever.

Any time after 9 PM Eastern works for me this evening.

    Order of preference:

    1) Live draft

    2) Twitter (I'm @4QuartersRadio)

    3) MSN

    4) Board

  10. Double post, but if we followed the rankings:

Hickey would get 1B Paul Konerko and LF Alex Gordon.

Srar would get 1B/LF Mike Morse, filling her utility spot.

Eddie G would get CF B.J. Upton.

Berober would get SS Jimmy Rollins and CF Michael Bourn.

And we'd be back to damshow's pick.

    Good for everyone?

  11. Yeah the waiver wire, because of the small rosters, was the difference-maker for a lot of us people who had rough drafts. I'm torn on whether to do a board draft next year or go back to the auction format and hope everyone shows up. Naiwf, who missed the draft, has been stuck in the cellar because no matter what his team of waiver wire guys isn't going to match up to those of us who got a star or two. On top of that I'm gonna cut loose the few people who dropped the ball and never managed their team. It's not that hard to get online and set your lineup for the entire week. That's how I do it every Sunday night or Monday morning. And then, depending on time and need, make acquisitions and changes later in the week. There's no excuse to not do this bare minimum of team management.

What do you guys think? Finding a time for 14 people from different countries to all do a draft is pretty tough, and a board draft is easy to run provided we get enough of a head start. But the problems with a board draft are twofold. First, some people just forget to draft and hold it up 24 hours; Second, with an early start a lot of transactions can happen that would completely change a player's value.

Good luck again to everyone in the playoffs, I'm looking forward to running this league again next year.

League's too big, rosters are too small. Two fewer owners and two more roster spots per team would have worked quite well, I think.

The auction part was fun and different, even as late as I showed up. The experience we're dealing with in the baseball league right now is seriously working my nerves, so obviously I'm not keen to deal with board drafts any more than I absolutely have to. Outside of football, I don't feel like I want to deal with another board draft ever again...and even then, I'm going to have to seriously weigh it this season.

As I said in baseball, you can easily spot the people in a board draft that will give up on the draft, and they're usually the ones that will give up on the season. So, maybe the advance warning is a good thing? Only positive I got.
