  1. Dave Foley was easily the best thing in that movie. Everything else sucked. Boo-urns at the fact there were a bunch of kids at my school that Wooderson's line was from this movie.
  2. Yves Edwards is Jesus, KJ annoys me to no end and really isn't worthy of holding a belt that guys like Diaz or even Edwards would compete for. I'm not a guy who guarantees wins often, but Nick Diaz would tool Karl James in a rematch. Hopefully Yves via head implosion of some sort, leading to Diaz vs. Edwards. Yeah fucking right, like I'm going to spend my Saturday night watching this. EDIT: And if Yves loses, fuck will I be blue.
  3. Duh. That would be blasphemy! If that was the case, I would have ranted. Then posted. Then realized it actually wasn't worthy of a rant on an internet message board.
  4. I really don't want the HNIC theme anywhere but Hockey Night in Canada. LIVE ON TSN, It's Hockey Night in Canada! ON A MONDAY!
  5. Best sig on this board. Maybe on the planet.

    YEEEEAAAAAAH!

  6. Spoiler: Click here to viewAbout Nate's piledriver, I agree, awesome. But yeah, it should be noted, spiking of the head and neck=illegal in the States.
  7. When the adrenaline is pumping and a fighter gets a chance to finish, killer instinct kicks in and they just keep throwing until they regain their composure enough to pull themselves away. Or in some case, allow themselves to be pulled away by the ref. You can usually spot the difference between something like that and a guy taking his liberties after a fight is finished.
  8. Full results here. http://www.sherdog.com/fightfinder/fightfi...mp;EventID=6778 Gifs from the event last night, credit to MMA-Core. Spoiler: Click here to view Alves takes out Hughes, Matt's knee gets fucked up Nate's piledriver Vera/Werdum stoppage Wiman KO's Tavares
  9. Two fights into the PPV. Spoiler: Click here to view Werdum stopped Vera with like 12-15 seconds left in the first round, punches from full mount. However, Vera was covering up, not much damage, wild, spotty, and it was coming up to the last 10 seconds. The ref? Dan Miragliotta. The ref for Kimbo/Thompson. He lets one fight go on while a fighter is against the fence, immobile, eating elbows for 40 seconds at least, but then stops some wild Gn'P, closing in on the end of the round, Vera moving around and blocking, and it gets stopped. One extreme to the other. Sorry, Dan, you suck dude. EDIT: Watching it a few more times, forgetting the time and how close the round was to being done, it was a a valid stoppage. He should have let it go, but besides letting it go for the good of the fight, it was a by the book stoppage. Nate/Thales was an awesome fight, Thales came out big, Nate responded, and he had the control for the majority of the fight after. Point deductions in rounds 2 and 3, one an illegal knee to the head of Thales and the next a bullshit call on a clear strike to the side of the head being ruled a shot to the back of the head. Thales ends up taking the split decision. More proof MMA needs to get rid of the 10 point must system. The knee was bad and Nate paid for it, but still deserved to win that fight. Nice desperation piledriver by Nate at the end of the third. Didn't work, but awesome to look at. Davis/Swick next, should be good
  10. UFC 85 is going on in London right now, the prelims are underway. The rankings are from MMA Weekly. Main Card Bouts: -Matt Hughes (#3 Welterweight in the World)* vs. Thiago Alves (#9 Welterweight in the World)* -Nate Marquardt (#5 Middleweight in the World)* vs. Thales Leites -Fabricio Werdum (#7 Heavyweight in the World)* vs. Brandon Vera -Michael Bisping vs. Jason Day -Marcus Davis vs. Mike Swick Preliminary Bouts: -Martin Kampmann vs. Jorge Rivera -Kevin Burns vs. Roan Carneiro -Thiago Tavares vs. Matt Wiman -Jess Liaudin vs. Paul Taylor -Eddie Sanchez vs. Antoni Hardonk -Jason Lambert vs. Luiz Arthur Cane PBP stolen from Sherdog. Spoiler: Click here to view Antoni Hardonk (Pictures) vs. Eddie Sanchez Round 1 Sanchez comes out aggressive and scores an early knockdown. Following a referee standup, Hardonk gets busy with knees from the clinch, which forces Sanchez to look for a takedown. He succeeds, but does little with the position. The round ends with another Sanchez takedown on the heels of another referee standup. 10-9 Sanchez. Round 2 Hardonk picks up the pace in the second, landing a hard knee to the chin and a stiff series of blows to the body. Sanchez answers and knocks Hardonk to the canvas with a powerful right hand. With the fighters back on their feet, a wild exchange of punches plays out with both landing. Hardonk starts to get the better of the exchange as he pieces together a strong combination. Hardonk seals the deal with a left hook at the 4:15 mark of round two with a left hook that forces referee intervention. Paul Taylor (Pictures) vs. Jess (Pictures) Round 1 The fighters trade blows in the center of the Octagon with neither gaining the upper hand early. Liaudin drops levels for a takedown and succeeds directly into side-control. Taylor escapes and gets to his feet, but the referee stands them up quickly after action slows. Liaudin lands a flying knee and Taylor answers with a punch that stuns the Frenchman and sends him to the canvas. Close round that goes 10-9 to Taylor on the Sherdog.com scorecard. Round 2 The action slows a bit in the second as Liaudin scores an early takedown. Taylor separates and gets to his feet, where he is taken back down. He controls and strikes from the top for the duration of the round. 10-9 Liaudin. Round 3 The fighters come out trading low kicks to kickoff the final frame. Taylor defends a takedown and is hit with a knee for his trouble. Liaudin scores a takedown but he can't hold Taylor down. Liaudin gets another takedown, but the referee stands them up shortly after. Laiudin pulls guard and gets the round on the Sherdog.com scorecard. The official judges' scorecards are in and Taylor takes a split-decision with scores of 29-28 (twice) and 28-29 for Liaudin. Luis Arthur Cane (Pictures) vs. Jason Lambert (Pictures) Round 1 Lambert comes out clinching and Cane has none of it. Lambert does not want to trade but he chases Cane around the cage looking for a tieup. Cane unloads with a right hand and sends Lambert to the canvas. Lambert stands and is knocked down two more times before the referee steps in to save him at 2:07 of the first. Impressive win for Luis Arthur Cane. Roan Carneiro (Pictures) vs. Kevin Burns Round 1 The first round is all Roan as the Brazilian scores a quick takedown and doesn't look back. The entire round sees Carneiro in the top position on the ground, throwing punches. With 90 seconds remaining in the round, Carneiro advances to the mount but he loses the position after landing some punches. 10-9 for Carneiro. Round 2 Burns stuffs a takedown attempt from Carneiro but he can't stop a second shot from the Brazilian. Carneiro punches from the top for several minutes and is caught in a triangle choke. Burns holds the head down and forces the BJJ black belt to tapout at 2:53 of the second frame. Very impressive submission for Burns. Matt Wiman (Pictures) vs. Thiago Tavares (Pictures) Round 1 The fights starts with wild scrambles for position and both fighters going for submissions. Tavares takes the top position, where he stays and lands punches for the duration of the five-minute opening period. 10-9 Tavares. Round 2 The second round starts much different from the first, with both fighters landing hard punches. The fight goes briefly to the floor courtesy of the Brazilian, but Wiman stands back up. Wiman then lands a stiff right hand that stuns Tavares. Another right hand puts Tavares out cold at 1:57 of the second round. Jorge Rivera (Pictures) vs. Martin Kampmann (Pictures) Round 1 Kampmann scores a quick takedown and lands some punches before taking Rivera's back. Jorge Turns and is caught in an arm-triangle choke, but he escapes. Kampmann takes the mount and finishes with a guillotine choke at 2:44 of the opening period. PPV starts at 3pm EST.
  11. Alves didn't make weight? Like Matt Hughes needs fodder for post fight annoyances.
  12. http://euro08.sportsnet.tsn.ca/ It says you can watch every game live online. I don't know if IP shit will allow it for only Canada, but you can always mask it.
  13. An Open Letter from Brett Rogers and Co. I love it, Kimbo gets the big main event win on CBS, but it's Brett Rogers that is getting all the respect from the fans on the net.
  14. It gets better with UFC 85. I don't know how people can trash it for anything but the losses of the card. Alves is going to be a star if he beats Hughes, not that he wasn't getting there with a win over Karo. Marquardt vs. Leites? Excited for that. I'm certain if the pre-Sylvia Vera comes to play, Vera/Werdum will be a great heavyweight fight. Even though it was Sylvia's awesome vertical lay n' pray that stunk shit up. It's a shame people still haven't seen the very best of Werdum yet, because he was on his way to being a big deal in PRIDE and I have no reason to believe he can't keep going in that direction. Davis vs. Swick should be a great fight. Jason Day is starting to get a lot of cred, especially here in Canada. A lot of folks are thinking he's going to be a complete gamer and really bring it to Bisping. Nothing I've seen from Day would make me disagree, Bisping is a hell of an intense fighter, so it should be pretty damn good too. You get Wiman/Tavares and Kampmann/Rivera as two really good prelim bouts too. I love this card, maybe just because I'm really starting to get behind Nate, Alves, Davis, and even Bisping. And they are all against opponents that should bring out the best in them.
  15. She's got nice breasts. She's packing some decent weight behind those things.
  16. I just want to say, anybody who bashes Dana White and doesn't bash Gary Shaw is a nutjob. Gary Shaw has to be the biggest tool douchebag in MMA. I have more respect for Jerry Millen.
  17. Well if they happen to get hooked on MMA (not just future Kimbo fights) thanks to EXC, the chances of them tuning into the next UFC are extremely likely. Paying for it, who knows, but if some how they managed to get truly hooked, to the point where that person can claim they have become an MMA fan, they'll be checking out UFC on June 7th one way or the other. If they have means, that is. Again, that's if they are hooked. Clearly a lot of folks came to see Kimbo and may have left just wanting to see more Kimbo on CBS.
  18. Spoiler: Click here to viewI didn't hear the judges decision, but two 10-8 rounds is absurd. Great fight. Jens did not seem prepared for the right hand of Faber. It was such an obvious set up, to the point where at the end, Jens was holding his hand up for like 3 or 4 seconds while Faber held his hand cocked, teasing another shot. It was just too fast for Jens to handle. That and some nice body kicks by Faber really overshadowed a gutsy counter fight by Jens. I saw no reason for 10-8 rounds. Faber has got to do something about that set up if he is going to keep showing that right hand off. It's fast off the mark, but it's begging to be countered. Torres/Maeda was really good. I think Torres dominated to be honest. He threw everything like a killer. Every knee, punch, every shot that landed looked hard and deadly. Maeda stayed noticed with some nice strikes of his own and countering Torres' kicks with the takedowns, but watching it, the whole fight to me seemed like Maeda was trying to throw Torres off and get him to give more than inch. Torres was just not having any and fucking lit up his eye beautifully. Great fight. Great set of fights. I enjoyed the WEC much more than EXC. Two of the best fights I've seen all year.
  19. Ken's best shot at Kimbo is going for a spontaneous rolling leg lock right out of the gate. Otherwise, Kimbo is too big and powerful for whatever Shammy's got. Think of how spectacular of a finish it would be, though. Plus, it would make me sad to see Ken get humiliated by Kimbo.
  20. For Kimbo next, Cabbage is the best way to go. IMO, Cabbage and James were the two best "names" for Kimbo after Tank, so by all means, bring on the next brawler for Kimbo to beat at his own game. People were saying Paul Buentello and Alistair Overeem would be good choices for Kimbo before they picked James. People even wanted him to go up against Antion Silva! I hope the entire MMA community packs their brains back into the ears so we can debate competition suitable for the EXC/Kimbo express to roll over.
  21. I'm pretty sure reruns of Home Improvement go neck in neck with the Stanley Cup finals in the ratings.
  22. I'll give Kimbo credit for surviving on the ground. Well, doing his part to survive on the ground, but the fact James Thompson passed his guard his ease means he still has a long way to go before he takes on somebody with a credible ground game. He had one nice reversal and I know James is a big, powerful guy and showed it, so I'll give Kimbo the benefit of the doubt, but I didn't think Thompson would be able to slither through his guard and he did. That shows me Kimbo is indeed still very much a work in progress. I'm not going to discount Kimbo, but the same people who say we should be hyping him up as the real deal would have been talking about how Thompson was his first real MMA test if he would have lost, which could have easily been the case. James Thompson was never a match for Kimbo on the feet. It took James an entire lunch break to beat a past his prime, old, battered, Don Frye. Frye was standing point blank, eating slugging shots from James for what seemed like an entirety and he still couldn't KO Frye. The ref had to stop it similar to last night's stoppage. I didn't think James even had a ground game, I've never seen him on the ground for that long or be that effective either. On top of that he's already been fucking KO'd by Bret Rogers, handily. I'm not a Kimbo hater, a blind man can see his potential is endless. It seems like people either put him on a pedestal or right in the gutter, depending on whether you love or hate him. I simply see him for what he is worth. A big deal on the internet, somebody who can draw, has an ecstatically pleasing style of fighting, but at the same time is still very green (as Thompson showed), and has an uphill battle in front of him if he wants to convince any keen eye on MMA that skill wise, he is anything more than potential. The blueprints are there, he's just got to keep learning. A Main eventer in terms persona and popularity, but speaking from an actual MMA credibility standpoint, he's prelim material at the very best, IMO. MMA is a business and bottom line is Kimbo puts asses in seats. Therefore, Kimbo = main event. There are people who want to see him whoop dat ass and the rest are still holding out for MMA's hero to come and put him to bed. Because apparently after his first loss (don't worry Kimbo haters, it will come eventually) Kimbo will disappear and never be heard or seen from again. Realistically, for Kimbo the fighter, his first loss will be the best thing that ever happened to him when it comes to taking his ability to the next level.
  23. It was a pleasant surprise that James Thompson and Kimbo produced an exciting 2+ round fight. I thought if it some how went into the second, both guys would be gassed out by the end of the round. Kimbo made James look like a threat on the ground, which is kind of sad, but it made the fight interesting. I still think the controversy ruined it a tad for me. Smith/Lawler was something. Or on it's way. Somebody said it wasn't a FOTYC, I disagree. I was into the fight huge. Usually I think wild slugfests are sorry excuses for FOTYC, but this was back an forth, technical, dramatic, hard hitting... This wasn't a slugfest, this was a damn good, techinical war. Nice knees, kicks, and elbows, good jabs, back and forth. I will go out there and say it, this was going to be a crisper, more refined Bonnar vs. Griffin, IMO.
  24. Fuck, with all the firepower Pittsburgh has, they can't even register more than like a single shot on a 5 on 3. I was depending on the Pens to do their part to make this series an interesting one at least.
