  1. Your playoff hopes are about the same as actually finding the creature you're named after.
  2. Na-na-na-na, na-na-na-na, hey hey hey, gooooodbyeeee~! Ottawa is OUTTA HERE! [/torontofan]
  3. I hoped for Vancouver to lose last year, ended up happy. Rooted for them to lose again this year, still happy. Fuck Ottawa though, they need to lose. I'd rather have no Canadian teams in the playoffs than only have Ottawa Go Philly!
  4. Of course I forget that the game is on this early again. Fuck sakes. But hooray for Philly! Strippin tuxedo's off those black and white birds Round 2 baby!
  5. Just finished watching the documentary on the '72 Canada-Russia summit series, hell of a good watch. Definitely recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
  6. Woooo Marlies!!!! 4-3 win to go up 2-0 in the series (5 game series in the 1st round, so one more win!), game was fun as hell to be at. Towel rallying is fun, but a bit embarassing when it slips out of your hand and lands on the head of the older lady behind you EDIT: Catching the replay on TV, and late in the third everytime the puck comes into Toronto's zone, you see me and my buddy in our seats just whirling those towels while NOBODY else on that side of the rink is doing it. Looks so fucking funny.
  7. Bye bye Betroit Red Wings! That's what you get for not cheering your team Come on though Philly, oust them already!
  8. Oh, how I love my team already. We just completely shitshowed the Guelph Storm. Only thing that could have made it better is if Gibson could've got his shutout, but when you look across the ice in comparison.. I did end up trading Houser for some younger D like I was thinking. Managed to get Masterangelo and McIvor, as well as another future good player who's names already escaped me for Houser and a bit of cash. Heck of a deal for me.
  9. Poor Milbury. Looks like you may have to give those kids a shakedown. My London Knights just started the season and we're 2-0-0 so far. I didn't get John Gibson back from his Lightning tryout for the 1st game of the season, but that turned out to be fine as I forgot that I had put in a trade offer before I posted my roster before, and I ended up somehow getting Scott Wedgewood from Plymouth for next to nothing. I was saying in my last post that I had regretted trading Houser in my last game, but now he's suddenly not an important part of the picture (Houser being the same age as Wedgewood, and Gibson a year younger; Houser is also the least talented of the three stat-wise). I'm debating on what to do with him at the moment but I'm thinking about trading him for some good, younger D-men. I also forget that I have Jake Patterson down in the Nationals as well that's decent. The other surprise that came to me out of nowhere is Joey Hishon. He's apparently been loaned to me by the Avalanche though I never asked him to be, but it turns out he is pretty talented - talented enough to make me bump Galchenyuk to the left wing and put Hishon at center on my 2nd line. Anderson's been sent down to the Nationals because of that. Slight alterations to a few lines (PP, PK) First game of the season, Wedgewood's between the posts, and we end up pouring it on the Erie Otters. We win 9-1, and Hishon ends up finishing with a hat trick. Thank you Colorado! Our second game is the very next day and goes much the same way. We defeat Saginaw 6-0 and Wedgewood gets his first shutout of the season with Galchenyuk leading the way with 2 goals. Our powerplay also went 4/6, and we've also killed 100% of penalties in the first two games. Looks to be a very good season
  10. Somewhere, Sean will be laughing at that one.
  11. It's a real rule, not an EHM one. Just for the OHL though. They put it in a long time ago to stop incompetent GMs from trading away all their first-rounders for nothing. Good to know, thanks for the heads up. Makes sense though I guess, can't really blame them. I'd imagine it's where a lot of GMs get their starts so who knows what decisions some may make that could cripple the team later on in life. Good to know that it's that easily possible Here I was a while ago debating whether or not 5k was too much to be throwing into a trade for someone ("Thats like.. 3 1/2 player salaries!") until I realized that I had profit up in the millions. Suddenly 150k as part of a trade for Galchenyuk didn't seem like such a bad offer
  12. Wooo, me and a buddy are going to the Marlies vs Americans Game 2 on Saturday! $26 a ticket for platinum seating on groupon? Waaaay to good to pass up! MARLIES! MARLIES! Also, cmon Philly, get the brooms out!
  13. So coming up to the 1st game of the season, this is how my London Knights roster currently looks, and how my lines are currently laid out (of course, subject to change ). Note that I will be sending Jake Patterson down to the London Nationals once John Gibson returns from his tryout with his NHL team, thankfully on the same day as our first game. Not quite sure who will end up as my starter, both are capable #1's so I will probably bounce between the two. In my last game that was lost with my hard drive, I had traded Houser when I had aquired Gibson. I ended up playing against him later in the season and he played a really solid game against my top of the league team, making me regret trading him in a way so I decided to keep him this time around. I have my third line set up as my tougher, grind it out type of line (4* toughness, 3* offense, defense, speed, 2* skill), and find myself playing them against teams top lines at times to give my top lines easier offense against their bottom two lines with the [1v4, 2v3, 3v1, 4v2] line-style. Couple of my bottom six guys I'm able to use on my PKs, but I also hope to get shorties sometimes, which is why I've put some offense power on it as well. You can probably pick out a couple guys (moreso the better players) that might end up tired at times from the workload, so when it starts to happen I try to lighten it up a bit and give others that fit their spots for a bit. I've also got some younger guys (or guys that I just couldn't fit in my main roster) down on the Nationals that are capable of playing with the team now if I need them. Most are also 17, and will be the core in a few years when most of my top guys go. I also gotta say that most of my reason for getting Ryan Strome is purely to screw over the Icedogs, as they were insanely good in my last game with Strome & Agozzino together. With this stacked a team, I should be able to make the playoffs easily. I'll hopefully beef out my younger players in the Nationals throughout the season so I'm not scrambling at the start of next season to get a team together. Another thing, I hate the feeling of playing Namestnikov on the 4th line as he's 1st/2nd line material, but I just couldn't figure out a good combo with the top six without playing him as a 'competant' rated RW when he's a 'natural' C. So I decided to even out my offense over 3 lines (as well as my 'tough' line), and give him his own line to control with as much icetime as the top 2 lines.
  14. I hope Hossa isn't badly injured from that hit, though being taken off on a stretcher seems to hint otherwise. Big loss for Chicago if he'll be gone.
  15. I'm not positive on this, but my theory is that the CHL has some sort of rule in place where teams must keep their 1st round picks to ensure that every team has the equal chance to draft a good, if not decent, player in the 1st round. Either that, or the EHM devs knew that people like us would just rape the league for the good draft positions, and decided to counteract us.
  16. I wish you could trade 1st round picks in the OHL/CHL I'd have somehow stocked up on them instead of the 5 2nd round picks I've got. It's ridiculously easy to trade, say, and 8th and a 10th for a 2nd. Also, I'd say it's very easy to get sucked into the depth of this game. For instance, I know I spent a good amount of time one night just going over draftable players stats, and making a draft-lists of whom I wanted for each draft that year. I've only got to the end of the preseason of my first season in my current game and have already put, I believe, 3 or 4 hours into it. (could be off by a bit)
  17. My heart was broken when my hard-drive crashed on my computer. Why? 99% because I lost my EHL save I was playing. Tons of hours, planning, COACHING THOSE FUCKING DOTS My London Knights were on their way to dominating the playoffs, god damnit! All I gotta say is thank god that my girlfriend has a laptop (ironically the same as mine). I've now installed the game on a USB thumbstick, so I now have the addiction back (at least when she leaves me her computer). After much debate, I decided to start again with the London Knights and try to get all of the players that I could remember back on my team. I'd say I've got a good 85% of them back, although I've also kept some guys I regretted trading beforehand and some decent guys that weren't on the team in my last game but are now with the newer roster update I downloaded. I've now just finished the pre-season, but have 're-tailored the roster' in a way and I'll probably update this post with it sometime tomorrow.
  18. The sounds of crushed hopes is music to my ears. Oh shit, just realized.. I'm also rooting for Boston secretly behind this Philly get-up. That is going to be a tough series on me
  19. That'll be an awesome series, especially if Philly plays how they've been playing against the Pens. Should see another heated battle between the two, both teams that stand up for each other.
  20. *feels bad for damshow* I'll try to get them to use soft brooms when they start the sweep. I definitely expected them to have a lot harder of the time against the Pens. After seeing these games I'm starting to think the same as you, in that they're gonna be cup contenders or winners if they keep this up.
  21. Gem of viewing that that HF board for 10 seconds? Also, why must they start games so damn early?! I'm not used to having hockey on at 3 and always forget, and thus missed the first 50 minutes of the Philly/Pits game Yay for Philly putting the hurt to Pits. 3-0 SERIES LEAD COMING UP BABY! GET THE BROOOMS OUT! So upset I missed this game It's seemed so heated judging from the last 6 minutes. ADAMS THE FUCKING GIRL JUST PULLED HARTNELLS HAIR MIDFIGHT! HIS BEAUTIFUL LOCKS! KILL HIM! I'm just waiting for the bench clearing brawl. You gotta love how after all of this fighting and shit going down, they go right back to playing a game of hockey after. And Max Talbot gets the 8th goal just to kill the Pens. You can tell Matt Cooke has definitely changed his game, because somehow, someway, he is still in the game despite there only being like 6 Pens left on their bench. "YOU CAN'T BEAT US!", just like the fans chant. 3-0 series lead baby! (Oh, hi Damshow. )
  22. I know, I'm just waiting for Sean to come back to the thread. EDIT: Holy shit, Chris Neil of all people wins the game for Ottawa in OT! Neil got the rebound, but the initial shot hurts Mcdonough who has a hard time getting off the ice, bent over.
  23. Poor Plubby I'm actually hoping the Rangers pull this one out (I can't cheer for no Senators ) but this is a good game to be watching. Hahahahahaha, two pucks on the ice, hahahaha Rumor of Francois Allaire retiring? YES! I still say change is needed there. Rangers leading 2-1 after Boyle gets some revenge with a goal for being jumped
