Even if you sell RVN to buy another player it's a waste. You can't buy anybody better than RVN in terms of a natural finisher for United. It'd be a mistake for United, replacement or not.

I personally don't think Smith would go to United judging by his love of Leeds. Beckham is by far the best crosser of the ball, most wide players have to beat men to put the ball in but Beckham didn't, he could just curl a ball in. That's pretty handy with the likes of Van Nistelrooy, Solskjaer and Scholes all in and around the box. I think he's been missed every bit as much as he is said to, but I guess we'll disagree there. He might be missed a little less once Ronaldo starts crossing more and not stepping-over, but he's been getting better at that. United definitely need at least one defender and one midfielder. By that I mean they need one world class player in each position, not a bargain they picked from somewhere. They're not in the position to be able to wait for players to come good at the moment.

That reminded me I haven't heard A Rush Of Blood To The Head in a long time. I used to have that on repeat for ages when I first heard it. Good call.

Spot on. It's all very well being able to spot a good cheap buy, and it's rewarding when it pays off, but you've got a lot to answer to when it doesn't work out. Why do Man Utd need to look for bargains? Obviously they shouldn't go out and get conned but they've got so much money (plus what they got from Beckham), they could go out and buy good established players.

I can't help but think is Ferguson losing it? To think he would even consider Ruud go is something I can't understand. At Arsenal we were offered a blank cheque really for Henry, but he means as much to Arsenal as Ruud does to United. I can't see the logic behind selling people like Beckham or Ruud when they can't or won't be replaced. It was said recently about Liverpool that teams used to fear Anfield and hope for a draw at best, but now teams want results there. I can see Old Trafford becomming that way. As an Arsenal fan I used to dread going Old Trafford, but now I look forward to that game because I always feel we can beat you, and other teams feel they can now come away from United with something too. Fergie's got a lot of work to do this summer regardless.

I wasn't aware they'd been produced by different people, but I like the end of Don't Look Back Into The Sun when the production comes in and there's a mix of a lot of different things all coming together. The songs are there though, and they're good. You'd have to be a pretty shit producer to turn a Libertines song bad. So I'm confident the new album will be great.

I agree Gerrard still needs to mature a bit to be the captain. I think he would benefit from being the captain in the same way Beckham has, but I don't think it's his time yet.

I think it could happen, and if it does I'd like to know how Man Utd are going to replace him. They never replaced Beckham and it showed.

It was always a bit of a desperate plea to make it to the finals, I didn't expect it to work out. Shame though, Wales had been playing well, I would've liked to have seen how they'd do against some bigger teams.

There's no ideas when it will be out, I've heard so many different things and there's been so many different set-backs. I've got the Man Who Would Be King demo, as well as Last Post On The Bugle which is always supposed to be on the new album. Both good songs. I was a bit sceptical about the Pete-Carl arguing thing. Obviously there is some kind of genuine tension there (hence Pete going to jail for burgling Carl and their uneasyness on stage when they're not talking), but I wandered whether it was a kind of Liam-Noel Gallagher thing. Played up a lot for the publicity. Anyway, good news about the album, The Libs are probably one of my joint favourite bands (with Muse and Oasis).

I really like The Strokes. They've got two good albums (I don't know which I prefer, probably the first) and to a Strokes fan the songs don't really sound the same at all. Though I could understand how somebody could think that, they certainly do have a style and sound they like to stick to, and why not? It seems to work pretty well.

I'm not too sure about 6 and 2 being retired. Campbell was already at the club before Adams finally called it a day, Toure was only a reserve so wouldn't be given the 6 shirt. Lauren and Dixon played together so he hasn't had the 2 shirt. I can't imagine too many people ever managing us after Wenger, but Adams wouldn't be bad if he can get the hang of it.

Manchester United bought Mutu on my game. Might be expensive but he always scored goals. There are better and cheaper alternatives though.

Won't get any arguments there. I'd like to see him bounce back with Wycombe next year, I guess that'll a test for him next year to prove what he knows. If you keep retiring shirts of legendary players, at a club like Arsenal it's going to stupid. We'll end up retiring the 8 for Wright/Ljungberg, 14 for Henry, 10 for Bergkamp, 4 for Vieira and so on. It'll just get to the point where players are running out in 3 figure numbers eventually. It's a nice gesture and all, but it doesn't work.

If any shirt was ever going to be retired it would've been the 8 after Wrighty quit, but it went on, and so should every other number. Sometimes it means a lot to a player to be given a boost by wearing the number lots of Arsenal greats have. I'm pleased Bergkamp is staying around. He might not play every game but he's still in good form and is surprisingly quick over a short distance. Plus he can work with the younger forwards coming through.

I'll be there. The only names I know of that are confirmed are Ian Wright, Thierry Henry, Paul Gascoigne and David Beckham. There's a celebrity match at half time too apparently.

Tottenham have needed to clear out all the crap for a long time. Letting the bigger names go should give them more financial clout too with wages and all. I've never understood why clubs are always falling over themselves to sign players like Anderton and Redknapp when they have big (or more than modest) wages and have played about 10 games between them all year.

Is it a biography of them? I read Catch Me If You Can (story of Frank Abegnale Jr) after seeing the film. It's a little different from the film, more to it as you might expect. It wasn't bad, some of the stunts the guy pulled were quite funny.

It was boring at times, and I'm glad that we've come so far in such a short space of time. But you can't argue that it worked for George Graham. The famous back four of Adams, Bould, Winterburn and Dixon (five if you include Keown) were probably the best there's been, a defensive line up I don't think will be bettered. Can't think why they didn't play for England together. I'll always like George Graham for the moment we won the league at Anfield. When Michael Thomas scores everybody, the fans, players, subs, coaches are going mad. Then there's George in the background asking for people to sit down and calm.
