  1. Yeah, such passion. Passion that you don't go and play in a player's testimonial. I do find it quite sad that some Tottenham fans seem to have nothing better to do than just hate Arsenal. And as for comments before that "Keown must really need the money", well. Yes Keown did give the money away, but even if he didn't, that's the point of a testimonial - to get some money before you call it a day.
  2. The players play for free as I understand it. Out of respect. Keown gave most of the money away actually.
  3. Well done there on judging a man on one incident in his 15+ years of football. Yes, he made a mistake, so let's just ignore the years and years of him being a good professional and brand him a thug over this one thing that happened at the end of his career. You obviously haven't followed Keown at all over the years. Nice of you not to mention any others players also. Does that make everyone involved in the scuffle a thug for life too then?
  4. Both the play-off games tonight were great, surprisingly much more entertaining than France-Brazil. I'm a sucker for a penalty shoot-out whether my team's involved or not.
  5. I'd say Roberto Carlos is the most over-rated defender. For starters he's not much of a defender and for some reason he believes himself to be the best free-kick taker in the world when in reality he hit a fluke against France about 6 years ago. 99% of his freekicks plough straight into the wall. I really can't see why so many clubs would like to have him when there are far better and younger options.
  6. Do we still have Stepanovs contracted to the club? Luhzny (not sure of the spelling there) just got released by Wolves, we could snap him back up and reunite him with his Latvian friend. Or not. We could probably do with a good or decent defender coming in. Good news about Lauren signing a contract extension.
  7. I've tried to defend him but that statement just kinda...I don't know, guess it ends there. So in summary: Monkey's Head = Yes Thug = I say no, others disagree.
  8. Martin Keown is a good old fashioned defender. He may argue with a referee from time to time but he is by no means the worst at that, I wouldn't even begin to compare him to the likes of Roy Keane. It's not something I'd associate with Keown at all. I wouldn't call him an unfair player either. He's been sent off but how many defenders haven't over the years. He's been red carded as much as say Tony Adams I'm sure but Adams isn't labelled. Just because Keown's rough and likes a physical challenge doesn't make him a thug. He got into a bad spot with Van Nistelrooy and that's what has stuck with him. Yes he's had scuffles over the years but one bad incident has seen him tarnished with a bad reputation. When footballers are being accused of rape amongst other things, I actually think Keown's a good role model for a footballer. He's a settled family man who takes his football seriously, a man who loved defending and there aren't too many like him who would gladly throw themselves in front of a ball to save a goal despite what may happen to him.
  9. There was a download for an older version of CM I'm sure. If you're going to do it all from scratch it'll take a long while.
  10. I was thinking could Keown not have stayed as a cover? He doesn't seem to concerned with playing every game every week, he's still good enough to play a small role from time to time. Morientes isn't someone we need to be honest, not with Van Persie coming in and young players like Bentley and Aliadiere still around.
  11. Heskey is a good player, as seen in his recent performances. Heskey is strong and can pass and control the ball well. He plays great with a fast man like Owen feeding off the balls he flicks on. He's the perfect choice for big games, like the one in Turkey, because he's got a good head on his shoulders and rarely reacts to any provocation. If Steve Bruce can get the best from him, which I think he can, he'll be more like the Heskey of old (Leicester) who was strong and ran with the ball.
  12. Fair enough. Hopefully it won't be too long until they get to lift it though. If it's going to be the same size as the Premiership trophy that's going to be an awful lot of gold on show there.
  13. It's a nice gesture, if a little late. It would have been nice to lift along with the Premiership, but it'll still be good to see.
  14. Went to the game last night, was a good time, everyone was in a bit of a party mood. Reyes took it very seriously as mentioned, he looked kinda puzzled by what Wright was doing when he was falling over and rolling around on the pitch. Robert Green started crap but seemed to come to life to dampen Keown's night a little. The half time celebrity match was good, Audley Harrison isn't as footballer. Nice to see some old names play too like Michael Thomas and Marc Overmars. Might post up some pics from the night once they're developed.
  15. Oasis - Definitely Maybe Oasis - What's The Story (Morning Glory) Ash - Intergalactic Sonic 7"s Supergrass - I Should Coco Everyone should own those, I'd say give Athlete - Vehicles and Animals a listen too.
  16. Another one that comes to mind: No One Knows by QOTSA, love that little riff.
  17. Would they be the rubbish teams good enough to beat United? That's the thing with the Premiership, anybody can beat anybody else. An unbeaten cup run is good, but 38 games through the whole season means more, that's the reason it's had more made of it and the reason it hasn't been done in over 100 years.
  18. Yeah, I can see the torment in school now: Some Kid: "HAHA, you're called apple!" Apple: "And?" Some Kid: "That's stupid." Apple: "How many millions do your parents have in the bank?" Some Kid: "None." Apple: "Does anybody have a clue who you even are?" Some Kid: "No." Apple: "So your point is?" I'd settle for being called Apple, there are far worse names you could be given. Congratulations to them.
  19. Plug In Baby by Muse Don't Look Back Into The Sun by The Libertines Fade Away by Oasis Just three I can think of off the top of my head.
  20. United undefeated in the cup? Wow, that must be all of what, 6 games including the final. Not quite 38 really. I bleed red, the words you were looking for are: congratualtions, Arsenal were by far the best team all year and deserve their plaudits. Anyone go to the parade today?
  21. The show's worth it just for Terry Wogan's commentary. I think we stand a chance of securing at least a point with Fame Academy loser. It's not a bad Eurovision song in all honesty, it osunds like the kind of song that could do ok.
  22. Silvinho was a great player actually. He had to leave due to those old "Edu passport problems", but while he was there I'd rank him up there with Ashley Cole in terms of good attacking full backs. So to answer your question, yes he was such a class player, a class player who at the time was challenging Roberto Carlos at left back for Brazil.
  23. Come On Feel The Noise. Should've been the Slade original but isn't. Still a great song.
  24. O is definitely one of my favourite albums. The new single Cold Water is pretty good too.
  25. I think 4th place is a bit of a stretch, I could happily live with it just being 1st and 2nd placed teams in the competition for the sake of having good teams in it and a good amount of teams. I don't see why the Cup Winners Cup was done away with. After that more went into the UEFA Cup, so more entered the Champions League. Went on from there really.
