  1. I'm rather to partial to Slide Away and Acquiesce (which is possibly my favourite song ever). As well as you usual suspects, Live Forever, Whatever, Supersonic, Cigs and Alcohol... There should be more Oasis threads.
  2. To try and put a more positive spin on things, I think Freddie Ljungberg looks like he's finally reaching somewhere near his best again. Since our double winning season when Freddie went goal mad he's never been as good (though most of that is down to injury) but in the more recent games he's looked like the Freddie of old, full of running and a danger going forward. We've not been playing well, but it's hardly crisis territory yet. We should've got more from the Palace and West Brom games (IMO we didn't deserve anything against Liverpool for our performance in the first half), but we're still second, can still catch Chelsea, so let's just see how it goes.
  3. My only concern is who is going to play in centre midfield? Fabregas should be ok to start, but Vieira will be suspended, Edu's not likely to return in time from what I know, Gilberto's out and Flamini took a bit of a knock (not sure if that'll rule him out for any period of time). We need to do better in Europe - we sure don't look like favourites anymore.
  4. Mine would be Liam Gallagher without a second thought. Of all the people I've seen live on stage nobody has ever really had the same presence - he just looks like he owns the stage. His voice is criticised by a lot of people I know, but I think it's good and suits the songs Oasis do perfectly. Again, I think he is an iconic figure, in the UK at least and although I've seen some other good frontmen I haven't seen anybody who I was as impressed with as I was and am with Liam Gallagher. Plus his recent efforts at penning a song or two weren't too bad - just don't mention Little James.
  5. No luck G-O-D, it's over. 5-4, one of the games of the season I'd day (if not the game) Good to get back to winning ways, we needed that one.
  6. Robert Pires! 5-3 We better keep this lead now, we've had 2 warnings already. EDIT: Nope, we did it again. 5-4 4 minutes of injury time to go.
  7. Should've done more for that Defoe goal. Nobody really put in a real challenge (though had they done so and mucked it up it would've been a dangerous place to give a free-kick away). It's been a busy game, thank God we're playing better this half than the first. 3-2 it stands for now. EDIT: Not for long. Get in there Freddie! 4-2
  8. It's hardly the biggest challenge but I had to start my first game as Arsenal. Still unbeaten in all competitions after 10 or so games in the league. The new format took a little getting used to but I'm really enjoying it now. True to Arsenal's form my youngsters are impressing in the League Cup too. Good times.
  9. Edit: meh, ignore. Apologies.
  10. Randomly, I went to the League Cup game yesterday. Just wanted to say that our youngsters were every bit as good as the press and Wenger has been billing them to be. Quincy Owusu-Abeyie was great from the moment he came on, Almunia made some good stops, Lupoli did really well, van Persie is near ready for the first team and Pennant is as ready as he'll ever be I think. Honourable mentions to everybody else who played, nobody let down the side. Lauren has been one of our better players recently. I don't doubt there are better right-backs in the world, but I think he just fits in with the team and how we play. He's a midfielder originally, which suits out attacking and counter attacking game.
  11. I would hope a new central defender is high on Arsene Wenger's transfer list. We've been linked in the papers with Ledley King (again, it's paper talk for what that's worth), a lot of people think Wenger might buy another central defender and push Toure out to the right - wouldn't mind seeing that myself now. We need to get over this slump. We miss Campbell but regardless of that we shouldn't keep letting leads go. It could just be a confidence thing, whatever it is they need to keep their concentration and discipline especially when leading the game.
  12. I've got to say our best attack this season has looked like being Henry and Reyes. They didn't click at first but watching some of the things they do playing together are great. That'd be my first choice - though Bergkamp with Henry and Reyes on the left works very well too (see game against Middlesbrough and our comeback). It'd be nice to see Van Persie get a look in though, hopefully that'll start happening soon - he had a great pre-season and hasn't looked bad so far in the games he's played.
  13. It's harsh to blame Pascal Cygan too much, but I think tonight is an example of why he isn't a Sol Campbell or a Martin Keown (who despite the stick was a good defender for Arsenal). Somebody like Campbell (or particularly Keown) would have been happy to take that in the face for the cause. As with most of the team, Cygan didn't play awful, but didn't play great. Henry was unlucky a couple of times, things just didn't click for him. For me Reyes has got to start playing a full 90 minutes. I can't remember when he last did that but I think he's ready to now. I still think we'll get through, if we beat PSV we can win the group.
  14. From what I've heard from Man Utd fans (this is going from the ones I actually know, I haven't read the reaction here or anything in the Man Utd thread) they won't admit Rooney did anything wrong or wasn't fouled. All I'd like them to do is be honest and admit it was not a penalty. I'll gladly admit that Robert Pires conned Portsmouth out of a win. I'm not at all proud of it now nor was I then. The players would've felt the same I hope, though I'm not surprised they won't go and criticise their own (in the same way I guess a Man Utd player won't say Rooney was wrong). I don't think Arsenal take defeat particularly badly, nobody likes to lose, be they bottom of the Conference or top of the Premiership (I will say we could have taken it better, but it could have been a lot worse). It's about time the Man Utd-Arsenal arguments were let go - though it won't happen here until it happens with the clubs themselves. I think Wenger is happy to keep it going to just to rile Ferguson up some more personally, though that's not really the point. Moving on: I think all in all a draw was fair against Southampton when you take into account both teams could have and should have won the game at some stage; I wouldn't want Mutu at Arsenal - I'm all for him having a second chance, but my feelings reflect his poor form at Chelsea last year; and we must have something better than Cygan at the back. It's a shame Gilberto isn't fit, I'd rather see him drop back or another youngster perhaps given a go - Cygan to me is a liability now. Anyway rant over I guess. It probably didn't all come out as I wanted it to but it rarely does.
  15. Lehmann is generally a good goalkeeper, but it's starting to get beyond a joke for me now. The best goalkeepers all make mistakes, but Lehmann seems to keep making them when it matters the most. I stuck by him throughout last year and all the cock-ups, but now it is time to look for a full-time replacement. I doubt that'd happen any time before the end of this season, though I guess there's a chance we could pick somebody up in January. I'd opt for Robert Green, but Wenger should be keeping tabs on how Stack is doing at Millwall.
  16. It's been heavily reported by a number of sources that a group of players, including Raul, Roberto Carlos and Fernando Morientes complained to the President. Nobody has spoke out against that from Real so I took it as being reliable. But as I think we do all agree their ego's are getting out of hand. The Galacticos were a part of the team that blew their chanes last year and have largely featured so far this year. Can you blame someone for wanting to change things up?
  17. I think the problem might actually be the player's themselves and their oversized egos. It is stated in papers today (take that for what you will) that Raul rounded up players and went to complain to the President of Real about being dropped in favour of Owen. Fact is the manager's decision should be final, if players don't like it it's tough. That Real players may have that amount of power means no manager will ever really be in charge and will never win the players over unless he picks Raul and his friends. I doubt the "Galacticos" would be happy unless they got to pick the team themselves.
  18. One of a kind. It's kinda shocking considering he was always appearing in papers and all. He'll be missed but not forgotten.
  19. I've played both DVDs and DVD+Rs on my PS2 a lot since I got it, which wasn't too long after it came out. I've had slight glitches with the PS2 (which I attribute to the high levels of dust it sits in) but never any real problems in how it plays. I'd say go for it, though obviously if you've got a DVD player I'd use that first to be safe.
  20. I'd nominate: Cannonball by Damien Rice Live Forever by Oasis Whatever by Oasis Beautiful by Athlete No Ending by The Delays
  21. I picked up some old Foo Fighters and White Stripes albums for a couple of quid a piece. Though my recent trip to Malaysia allowed the chance to pick up new CDs and DVDs for the sum of £1.50 each. Best bargain ever goes to the 1p I paid for High Fidelity (the book though) in WHSmiths.
  22. I'm useless at the whole uploading to a site and all, but I suppose if somebody could do that or tell me how to it could be done :s I appreciate the suggestions, if anybody has any more keep 'em comin'
