  1. I'm talking roughly 06-07 season... Before the days of Man City's wealth. Then you're making things up. I'm pretty sure we were shit then. And Spurs didn't qualify for the Champions League until two years ago and not before then in the last twenty odd years. Who said anything about the Champions League? Spurs were in with a shot of european competition in 04/05, managed to reach the quarter finals of the UEFA cup in 06/07, then in 10/11 they got into the Champions League. But i'm sure you knew that, right?
  2. Regardless of the club, to see a former champion fall is a bit sad, in a romanticised way. I wasn't aware of Villa's heritage, as i've already pointed out, and likewise I can now see they would be a loss too. But in all honesty I don't even think they'll go down, so what's all this about?
  3. Of course it matters.. to fans of the club. To anyone else who gives a toss? It's just sad to see a former champion fall.

  5. Agreed, and I think the same for Andy Carroll too. He was never prolific for Newcastle but he did put a few away. It's all about getting the right fit, and playing to their strengths.
  6. P.R.E.M.I.E.R. L.E.A.G.U.E. I sense you're taking this a bit too personal but I simply cannot spell it out more than I have above. But Hey, if you want to live in the past then be my guest but in the modern PREMIER LEAGUE era Aston Villa have been mediocre at best. 6th place was fine for a team like Villa, because they are a mid-table club. But back then the league wasn't as competitive as it is now so even that is only marginal. Yea, in 2001. But they're on par with Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal. Update Are you genuinely this antagonistic or do you only read what you wish to read? Allow me to break it down one last time; In the modern PREMIER LEAGUE era Aston Villa were at their highest peak when competing against Spurs and Newcastle for the last European spot. Spurs were able to secure it, we weren't good enough and Aston Villa stood still. Poor ownership and bad management have resulted in you eventually sliding down the table and thats where you're at today. It's alright taking the piss saying garbage like "duh football began in '92" but you are missing the point by a mile. I could easily bring up the history of any top flight team but what's the point? It's irrelevant at this point.
  7. Thanks for taking the time to share a bit of history but there is no need to be condescending. I have already highlighted Villa's best form in the modern era, when they were competing with us and Spurs. As I said Spurs progressed, we went down and Villa did NOTHING... Perhaps I was naive by saying Blackburn would be a bigger loss to the Premier League. I hold my hands up and admit that I wasn't aware of Villa's history but the fact of the matter is Blackburn have won the Premier League and if that stands for nothing then you may as well tell Sheikh Mansour not to bother. Zzzzz
  8. Yeah I noticed that against Stoke, could be a confidence issue but regardless of that he was cheap, and even though he's been off the boil since the African Cup of Nations he managed to put a fair few away earlier in the year to prove a lot of people wrong. I can't see him holding that position like Kuyt has. That's a fair point.
  9. Plenty of brummies in the house, then? Bless. We created the football league. Show your respect. Lol. Point is, Villa have been mediocre for years and I stand by that. To even attempt to put them on a par with the likes of Man Utd and Liverpool is absurd. Sheffield FC get my respect for creating the rulebook around which the game is played. Villa, well, any citations on your comment?
  10. Fair enough therockbox. The reason Ba has been "hit and miss" recently is because he is no longer played in the center, as therockbox. said. Desperately wanted him to score against Stoke.
  11. I think you're giving Kuyt way too much credit... Why sign a striker to perform that role anyway? Me too.
  12. Kuyt was put on the wing cos he can run all day, it's as simple as that. About Charlie Adam, forgive me, it's very late. Who's the midfield chap they signed for £20m then? Edit: Henderson!! Hows he doing? (time for bed)
  13. Amazed you think the owners of Liverpool are prepared to let a £20m asset go unused. Andy Carroll will never be prolific, but by god he should have a few goals behind him by now. I still never managed to wrap my head around turning Kuyt into a winger. We were after him at the same time Liverpool were.
  14. Bias aside, they did look capable of climbing the league a few seasons ago and for awhile it was "Who is going to be the next big team - Villa, Spurs or Newcastle?". Spurs went north, we went south and Villa.... Well, mid-table mediocrity... Again.
  15. And it would again. My point is Blackburn have won the league before whilst Villa are the epitome of mediocrity and have been for years.
  16. I think anyone going for Hoilett is in for a battle. Quality player, shouldn't have any problem securing a new club.
  17. As former champions I think Blackburn would be a bigger loss to the Premier League than say, Villa.
  18. According to the rumour mill, sure. We only paid £2m for him anyway.
  19. I just hope we don't sell too many of our players. Mind you, if some stupid (scouse) team wants to pay over the odds for Demba Ba they can... I have confidence Pardew and Co. will build another team worthy of Champions League qualification with the money.
  20. Correct. WWE are well known for not bothering to give moves the correct name, if they even name them at all.
  21. Just an aside, I would love for there to be more Mexican wrestlers in the game. I admit I know very little about the art in Mexico but there is nothing I like more than uncovering a great "unknown" to work with. I'm the same with Football Manager.
  22. Because there's a Michael Cole in the workers section and a Michael Cole in the staff section. He's unsackable to avoid him being fired by WWE, thus creating two Michael Coles. Do Not Like.
  23. I guess a muscular looking white guy who looks like he's in his late 30s, tanned.... kinda rugged but not too ugly or whatever, with spiked hair that's dark and a goatee... I mean, I can't think of any examples, sadly. It's gotta be the one and only Marky Chavez, former front-man of Adema and step-brother of Jonathan Davis from Korn. Pic is from about 10 years ago or something, plenty more on Google.
