Yes but not clean and easy

Next episode comes out this Friday, then it goes weekly on Fridays until December 13th.  Then the next episode after that drops Wednesday December 18th and the finale comes out Friday December 27th.

They left a gap at the end for when Rise of the Skywalker comes out.

I do not posses that amount of patience

The original and prequel trilogies have both been announced as Day 1 additions to the streaming service, along with The Force Awakens.

It appears that Disney+ is taking a slow burn approach and not just blowing its' load all at once as well. There was a list of everything confirmed for Day 1, and the Marvel selection is four or five movies to start. Probably due in part to streaming rights deals that will need to expire before they can add certain things, but also because they don't want people to sign up specifically for one thing, like say the MCU... and then binge watch it all right away and cancel their subscription.

From what I've read, eventually everything will end up on the service, but they wanted to leave some room to be able to add not only new shows/movies each month, but stuff from the back catalog as well.

So, does Disney now control all Star Wars, even the distribution rights for "A New Hope"? Can we get the original editions of the original trilogy on DVD now?

Solo had a rough start, but kept getting better as it went. It’s the worst one since the Disney purchase, but I had a decent time.

    Spoiler

I'm guessing the Proxima stuff must have been lost in the transition because she's made to be this huge villain and is literally on screen for about a minute and that entire plot just disappears

  4. I think Alden did the best he could, given that he's trying to be the younger version of an iconic character and Harrison Ford has a natural bravado that is just not possible to recreate.

    A few thoughts:

    Spoiler

Can we have ONE Star Wars movie without a wacky droid to bring comic relief? L3 or whatever the hell her name is supposed was fun but it's a concept that has just been driven into the ground at this point.

Donald Glover had a much easier task in being Lando as we know almost nothing about who he actually was or what he did, other than that he was "friends" with Han, had the Falcon at some point and apparently became the Mayor of a floating city in a card game or something.

Woody Harrelson was great because he's always great

I wasn't a big fan of them shoehorning Easter eggs from the prequel trilogy. Like...the part with Han committing murder at the end of the movie. They might as well have put in giant letters on the screen "FINE, HE SHOT FIRST. ARE YOU HAPPY?" Or Han and Lando's "I hate you.": "I know" bit.

This movie is apparently about 12 BBY, or 20 years after Episode I so who knows about this Darth Maul nonsense

  5. I find all this Apu bashing troubling. The Nahasapeemapetilons are some of the finest people from Green Bay and Herb and Judy are very proud of their boy, despite the fact that he abandoned the Brewers for the NY Mets as his favorite baseball squadron

there's this pause and black screen in the credits after they've finished detailing the leading actors and show the film title, where more often than not there's a post-credits scene. Instead it just starts up with the full credits a few seconds later.

It was hilarious in the theater I was at because a bunch of people started shushing the crowd after the title came and went, and when the crew credits started rolling there was this collective "ah, fuck, we're gonna have to wait another six minutes, aren't we" laughter.

Bingo. Same exact thing happened in my theater.

  7. I haven’t had that much fun at a movie since I saw The Dark Knight on opening night. The movie was great and the best MCU makes movie since GotG1. I do have a few minor nits to pick:

    Spoiler

The drawback of a giant expanded universe and knowing there’s a sequel coming in 12 months is that I don’t buy that everyone is gone. At all. You know they’re not killing The Black Panther off or Spider-Man after one film each. You know they’re not killing off Peter Quill or Drax off before Volume 3. I could maybe buy that Gamora is dead, but I don’t. What I would love to see them do (but in no way expect because capitalism or want it because I love these movies) is if Kevin Feige sent out a press release and said the MCU is complete and Thanos won. It’s over and the whole franchise is being re-booted.

Also, am I crazy or was Renner and/or Paul Rudd doing press for this movie? Clint Barton has always been pretty inconsequential to everything but the fact that he just wasn’t in the thing at all was weird.

Also, there was a classic troll job by the Russos in the credits before the post-credit scene. Loved it.

God, it's weird that the next movie after this is an Ant-Man one. That's either going to be a really nice breath of fresh air or feel totally inconsequential.

like, shit, dude. Half of the universe is dead! I'm sure the bulk of the movie takes place between Civil War and Infinity War but still.

Anyway, I loved it. Thanos was great. Probably the biggest job this movie had to do was sell people on him and I loved the approach they took. My jaw dropped when Red Skull came back; I too had no idea that that wasn't Hugo Weaving, though to be fair I've not seen that performance since I saw it in theaters like seven years ago and Ross Marquand's original claim to fame was being a great impressionist. I think I just assumed that Weaving had agreed to come back and do a mocap performance instead of makeup, since he hated the Red Skull makeup so much.

I felt the same way about Ant-Man is that he basically had his own movie to setup why he was in Civil War.

  8. So, today was the 25th anniversary of what is considered one of the greatest Simpsons episodes ever "Last Exit to Springfield" (LISA NEEDS BRACES)

Today, FOX aired an interview with convicted arm-robber yet not convicted murderer OJ Simpson from 2006 where he described how he would have killed his ex-wife and her friend...IF...he did it. IF. Because he's totally not guilty. FOX didn't air the interview in 2006 because even Rupert Murdoch has some sense of shame.

Simpsons Showrunner Al Jean dropped this bit of a fun fact on Twitter about "Last Exit to Springfield."

  9. Here's a thought I just that never occurred to me before:

Is Owen Lars the greatest hero of the galaxy? I always thought the way he wanted to keep Luke on the farm was just him being a cheap dick; but was he doing it knowing that Luke joining the Imperial Academy would allow Vader to find his son, manipulate him to joining the Dark Side and thus enslaving the entire galaxy forever?

  10. Also, regarding a character who used the Force:

    Spoiler

I just want a force ghost Obi Wan because I loved the way Ewan McGregor played that character in the prequels. When Yoda showed up and started giving Luke shit, I thought we were going to get other ghosts (Anakin, Obi Wan, etc) to also give him shit

  11. I legitimately think how prominent the Porgs were in the trailer versus how they actually used was a troll job. They know this fanbase treats Ewoks and JarJar and other cute things.

    Spoiler

My absolute favorite part was the fact that Rey's parents were nobody and this story finally expanded beyond one family literally running the entire galaxy. Also, Kylo's complete irrationally when it came to wanting to destroy the Falcon and kill Luke. He wasn't trying to be a movie villian and be clever, he just wanted to destroy his father's ship (that he no doubt resented from birth) and kill his Uncle who tried to murder him in his sleep.

Wonder Woman also had really strong word of mouth, which definitely helped. It's definitely the big budget film I've recommended most over the last year. I feel like the marketing for Justice League, at least in the UK, has been pretty weak. I caught a trailer last week while watching something else at the cinema, but I'd honestly kept forgetting it was coming out - and, have also since that trailer, forgot it's out now.

Wonder Woman also is a very good movie that has good performances and a great director, which the Justice League has none of. What Gal Gadot does in "Wonder Woman" bares almost no semblance to what she is in "BvS" and the "Justice League."  Again, with the Avengers, you had continuity in the tone and performances in all of the films.

  13. Here's my thoughts on The Justice League as someone who literally has not bought one comic book in my life.

Why should I give a shit about any of these people outside Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman? What worked about The Avengers and the MCU is that we spent 4 years getting to know these people. So we didn't need to cram in exposition and the part where the heroes are at first reluctant to join the team and then eventually join because it's the right thing to do. It was just so much time wasted. I'm only about 60 percent kidding when I say that I was surprised they didn't cram in another scene where the Waynes are murdered in front of Bruce.

My guess would be that after this season we'll jump to the end of the suspension.

I'm curious how much purely Saul story there is to tell, since the intent was to turn Jimmy into Saul much earlier but then they realized they had way more to explore pre-Saul then they'd previously thought.

I wonder if at some point (most likely the final few episodes) if we're going to get an epilogue to the whole universe and see what becomes of everyone. We keep checking in on Gene in Nebraska. Kim is from Kansas City, which isn't all that far away. I wonder maybe if at some Kim wanders into Cinnabon.

I think this is about the slowest burn to a series I have ever seen. The Wire had a slow burn and it was amazing. We sort of all know how it will turn out because of BB, but how are they making something this slow seem so enjoyable?

Gilligan has said that they expected Jimmy to become Saul by the end of Season 1 but they fell in love with Jimmy so much (and Kim and everyone else) so much that they couldn't let Jimmy go just yet. The end of Season 1 is clearly the setup but thankfully they changed up and let us stay in a pre-Walter White world longer.
