You don't open the top room until round 20 or so, when you all have good enough weapons. Then you all stay in the corner and kill them as they come through the door/window. Don't move the couch on the staircase, otherwise they will come that way also.

So I went to take my X-Box apart to try and repair it myself. There was a shit ton of dust on under the right side panel. Wiped it clean, put it back together, turned it on, and all is well.
