Here's some varied electronic based acts with recommended albums.

Kraftwerk - Godfathers of electronic music, 99% of popular electronic music post 1970s is traced back to them, try The Man-Machine or Trans-Europe Express, there new live album Minimum-Maximum is brilliant as well.

Jean Michel Jarre - One of the premier electronic composers, early stuff is by far his best and is purely electronic try Les Chants Magnétiques or Oxygene.

They are two of the earliest successful and pioneering electronic acts, and both still around today as well as that there these acts:-

Aphex Twin - Try Selected Ambient Works 85-92. Highly original and that collection especially is way ahead of it's time.

Bjork - I've liked all her albums Debut is a good starting point.

Jeff Mills - Techno legend, heavier than The Prodigy try Exhibitionist.

Leftfield - More house-orientated try Rhythm & Stealth.

A few other various electronic acts/artists which I would recommend are Derrick May, LCD Soundsystem, Silicone Soul and Underworld.

If you want to go more "in-depth" and delve into some Trance. DJ Tiesto, DJ Doboy, Armin Van Buuren, and DJ GT.
