Gangster movies!

I recently seen Boyz in the Hood with Ice Cube and Cuba Gooding Jr and thought it was brilliant. Anyone know of any movies out there that are similar to this if you know what I mean?

If you liked Boyz in the Hood, you have to see Menace II Society. In my opinion, it's better. It just feels more real.

Well stuff like Friday is basically a comedy version of those type of movies, you also have the female equivalent stuff like Save the Last Dance and then you could even look back into the Blackexploitation movies of the 60s/70s for movies like Superfly. You have your Italian-American gangster movies as well, stuff like Godfather, Goodfellas etc.

Juice and Above The Rim are two good ones, both featuring Tupac Shakur. Juice in particular is one my favorite gangsta movies.

Now, with the exception of Menace II Society, I dont think any of these is actually better then Boyz In The Hood, but they're all in the same vague.

Not sure if you could class it as a gangster movie but panther is quite a good movie on the black panther movie with kardeem harrison.

The Friday series is the hilarious gangster film along with dont be a menace to south central while sipping on gin and juice (i think thats what its called staring the wayans brothers.

heh, I thought this was gangster movies like Goodfellas. But anyway, my favorite is Boyz N Tha Hood. Though, I have not seen Menace II Society. I want to though. Another one that I liked was Baby Boy which was made by John Singleton as well, with Snoop Dogg, Tyrese, and the great Ving Rhames. I dunno if anyone else likes it, but I thought it was decent.

Don't Be a Menace To South Central while Drinking Juice in the Hood is one of my favs, alone with Menace, and Colors.

State Prop 2 was the worst I've ever seen, though.

Check out City of God. It's, technically, a gangster movie, but just know that it's in Portugese and you'll have to read subtitles (unless you can understand portugese). It's well worth it, though. One of the best movies I've ever seen.
