Another music reccomendation thread...

Recommended Posts

So...yeah, I'm listening to Syd Barrett, Moldy Peaches, Belle & Sebastian, Loudon Wainwright III and Television Personalities a lot at the moment, kind of simplistic almost child-like innocent music, but with genuinely intelligent lyrics, and more than a little dose of irony.

Can anyone recommend similar bands?

Haha wow, I just downloaded "I'm Glad I Hitched My Apple Wagon To Your Star" by The Boy Least Likely To, and it's exactly what I was looking for.

EDIT: And "I See Spiders When I Close My Eyes" is even better.

And you get double kudos for having Broken Social Scene in your sig, "Anthem For A Seventeen Year-Old Girl" is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

I'd say the Dickies are pretty childish and innocent sounding, but can still play some good rock. Stuff like Give it back, Banana Splits, and the cover of the Gigantor song are fun.

Again, I'd recommend Atom and His Package, simplistic music, but the lyrics are great. Me and My Black Metal Friends is a funny song, it's all electronic, but he sort of puts a black metal sound on it (trust me though, this isn't a heavy song in the least). Also check out his song No Head (doesn't relate to the act of giving/getting head), it's probably one of his better songs.
