Rise of the Independents Presents: Upset City

Saturday November 19th, 2005

Super Dragon (1-1) vs. Brandon Thomaselli (0-2)

An exciting opening match but everyone pretty much had Dragon taking an easy victory. So imagine their surprise when Brandon was able to slip out of an attempted Supernatural Driver into an Owen Hart style Japanese leg cradle rollup for the HUGE upset!

WINNER---Brandon Thomaselli

*** 1/2

"Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels (1-1) vs. "The Suicidal Demon" Azrieal (0-2)

Not a breeze for Daniels that's for sure. Azrieal got quite a few near-falls before falling to Last Rites and the Best Moonsault Ever

WINNER---Christopher Daniels

***

Alex Shelley (2-0) vs. Beef Wellington (0-2)

Beef really impressed in this one, somewhat keeping up with the technical wizardry of Shelley, escaping the Border City Stretch several times. In the end, Shelley immobilized Beef with the Shellshock and then slapped on the Border City Stretch and finally got Beef to tap out.

WINNER---Alex Shelley

Alex Shelley got on the mic afterwards and said he is now 3-0 and he would put CM Punk in his place next show.

"Mr. Wrestling" Kevin Steen (2-0) vs. Nigel McGuinness(1-1)

This was actually a fantastic match, Steen really gelled well with Nigel and was able to counter Nigel's unique style with raw power and aggression. Nigel had several near-falls with some pinning combinations and Steen just beat down Nigel with his high impact offense. In the end, a series of reversals led to Steen reversing an attempted folding prawn press into a cradle for the HUGE win for the CZW Ironman champ over the ROH Pure champ! Steen goes to 3-0!

WINNER---Kevin Steen

****

"Spyder" Nate Webb (0-2) vs. Jimmy Rave (1-1)

Decent match with Rave controlling the majority of it with great heel tactics that he has become so effective at employing. Every time Nate tried for a comeback, Rave just put the kibosh on it, and without the referee noticing in the event of some chicanery. Webb finally hit a desperation Soylent Green 2 (It's Still People). Back and forth action ensues before Nate hits a huge Arachnid Kick and then goes up top and hits a breath-taking front flip DOUBLE STOMP and he got the upset victory!

WINNER---Nate Webb

Teddy Hart comes out before his match with Damian and gets on the mic, proposing to form a team with Damian because he respects his ability but more than that, he can kick ass like few others and he wants Damian on his side. Damian took the mic and said that he isn't going to be just bought, Teddy has to prove himself. He says if Teddy can beat him cleanly then he will consider it. So that's that, and we have our next match!

Teddy Hart (1-1) vs. "The God of War" Damian (2-0)

This was reminiscent of the Teddy/Homicide battles in JAPW, if a little less intense. Wild brawl all over the arena with Damian just punishing Hart with stiff jabs and chops. Hart was no slouch either though, hitting a moonsault off a balcony onto Damian and a bunch of security! The ref allowed them a lot of slack in this one. Back towards the ring, Damian came off the apron with a double stomp on Hart and Hart just barely made it back into the ring, showing his heart (pun intended). Damian went for his Cannonball Thai kneedrop but missed and Hart immediately went to work on the legs, incapacitating Damian long enough so he could go up and hit the Hart Attack and get the 3!

WINNER---Teddy Hart

Damian grabs the mic after getting up and says that Teddy has his respect and that he would be glad to form an alliance! Wow! Teddy takes the mic and says you are looking at Canada's Finest right now!

Paul London vs. Chris Sabin

This was a great high impact match, non-stop action from the beginning. Dives to the floor, springboards and the whole works. London spiked Sabin with his Legsweep DDT but Sabin was in the ropes. Sabin hit a brutal running powerbomb into the turnbuckle, he calls that the Afterburner and it almost got the victory on London. In the end, London got Sabin down and went up top and came off for his London Star Press but Sabin sprang to his feet and CAUGHT LONDON in mid air on his shoulders in a fireman's carry and hit the Cradle Shock to score the amazing victory!

WINNER---Chris Sabin

*** 1/2

The two shake hands in a great show of respect after a hell of a match that would have been the match of the night had it not been for our main event.

CM Punk (2-0) vs. "Lightning" Mike Quackenbush (2-0)

Awesome match between these 2 veterans that just about went to the 30 minute time limit but Punk was able to get the win with 27 minutes gone with a beautiful fireman's carry rolled through into a pin.

WINNER---CM Punk

****

The two shake hands as the show ends.
