Guppie: “We are starting the show off with Chad Collyer taking on Joey Ryan in what should be a technical showcase.”

Patterson: “Collyer was trained by the great Dean Malenko. Joey Ryan doesn’t have asmpressive of a trainer but he has proven himself to be a great wrestler and earned the nickname of ‘technical wizard.’”

Guppie: “Chad Collyer picks up another win. He’s been a man on a mission since he lost to Alex Shelley two weeks ago. As you saw in the beginning of the match he has a new attitude and so far it’s working for him.”

Patterson: “Collyer is a trained technical wrestler and it’s sad to see him resort to cheap tactics like low blows in the ring.”

Guppie: “It’s cheap but it works so I don’t think Collyer will stop doing it. After this commercial break we will be back with Scott Lost defending the Premier Title against Jack Evans.”

Patterson: “This is Evans’ second shot at the belt and he’s going to be determined not to let it slip away again. However Lost has been a dominant champion and Evans is going to bring it all to get a win here.”

Segment 2: Shooting for Gold

Jack Evans walks out from the back accompanied by Alicia. The two walk down to the ring to boos from the crowd which they ignore. Evans climbs onto the apron and holds the ropes open so Alicia can get into the ring. Alicia takes the mic from the announcer as Evans leaps over the top rope and into the ring.

Alicia: “The Hart Foundation is no more. Teddy Hart, the former leader of this group left us and the SMWA with no warning. That didn’t bother me though. Jack Evans and Azrieal were both here. Two of the best wrestlers on the scene. Then just two weeks ago Azrieal suffered an injury. Azrieal was supposed to be receiving this title shot but Evans is just as worthy. Tonight Jack Evans steps into the spotlight of the SMWA again. Evans is going to give birth to a new era. The Hart Foundation may be dead but this group isn’t. Now I am leading it and after tonight I will be leading the Premier Champion. Tonight Scott Lost is going to experience what made Jack Evans a champion in this company. Lost is going down when Evans nails him with the 630!”

Guppie: “Jack Evans wins the match to become the new SMWA Premier Champion!”

Patterson: “Jack was a former SMWA Champion so it’s not a huge surprise. Lost did some nice work on his leg but Jack is used to taking a lot of damage in the ring and he keeps on coming.”

Segment 4: Gertner Associates

The screen cuts back to the locker room showing Brandon Thomaselli and Joel Gertner. The camera zooms out showing Johnny Spade and the Backseat Boys behind Gertner and the Iron Saints behind Brandon.

Brandon: “Joel, I appreciate what you have done for my career but now my brothers are here in the SMWA. I want to stick around but I have to be with my family. It’s how we do things.”

Joel: “I understand, Brandon, and I’m sorry to see you go. I promised to make you a star and you’ve started down the path and I’m sorry I won’t be with you to finish it.”

Gertner extends his hand and Brandon shakes it then the Thomaselli’s leave the locker room.

Joel: “Listen up, Brandon may have left the Gertner Associates but we are still as strong as ever. In this group you have the Backseat Boys who have been dominant Tag Team Champions. They have beaten KENTA and Marafuji who dominated the NOAH tag scene, they beat the Pitbulls who were the former champions and who use to dominate the tag team scene. Nobody is going to be taking the belts from these guys and that’s a guarantee. And then there is Johnny Spade. Perhaps the most underrated and underappreciated wrestler on the SMWA roster. This man tore up the ring as a tag team with Halo and he and Halo had wars in the ring against each other. Spade then formed a great tag team with Jimmy Jacobs. But constantly he is put on the back burner here in the SMWA and that must end. Next month you fans are going to get a showing from Johnny Spade that you will never forget and he is going to cement himself as a top face in the SMWA. The Gertner Associates are going to make an impact here in the SMWA that will not be forgotten.”

OA: 78

Guppie: “Folks, you just heard it, Brandon Thomaselli has left the Gertner Associates to team up with his brothers, Vito and Sal.”

Patterson: “You can’t blame him, the Thomaselli’s have been very strong as a unit and there is no reason to break it up here in the SMWA.”

Guppie: “We are going to see Vito, a former SMWA Champion, in action after the commercial break when he takes on Homicide in our main event.”

Patterson: “This is going to be a battle between these two men. Homicide is an established star around the world and is showcasing his skills here in the SMWA and he has to take on a former champion in Vito. This is going to be hard-hitting and fast paced.”

Segment 5: Homicide vs. Vito Thomaselli

Homicide and Vito circle each other in the ring before going into a lockup. Homicide backs Vito up into the corner almost effortlessly. The ref calls for the break and Homicide appears to give a clean break then pokes Vito in the eye and slams home two hard knife edge chops to his chest before the ref steps between the two men and Homicide backs off claiming his innocence. Guppie: “What a war between those two men. We’ve been having more and more of these high impact matches here in the SMWA and it’s amazing.”

Patterson: “We have the top talent showing up and they want to make an impact. Those two men were avoiding each others strikes early in the match and turning them into high impact moves that were knocking each other for a loop.”

Guppie: “This is the kind of action the SMWA brings you fans here on ESPN two. Thanks for watching fans.”

Patterson: “For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson, be sure to check out smwawrestling.com for infomation on upcoming shows.”

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Guppie: “Welcome to SMWA Rage on ESPN Two. I’m Brian Guppie and my partner on commentary is Mike Patterson.”

Patterson: “This is going to be a good show as we have two first round matches in the Midwest Invitational Tournament. The first tournament we have pits Brandon Thomaselli against NOAH star KENTA.”

Guppie: “KENTA has made his name as a tag wrestler primarily although he has been establishing himself as a singles wrestler recently. He has plenty of tools to use in the ring too.”

Patterson: “That’s very true, KENTA is a brutal striker especially his kicks and knees. Don’t overlook Brandon Thomaselli though. He doesn’t have the most impressive win-loss record but he’s got plenty of pure talent and he has just as many tools as KENTA.”

OA: 67 CR: 50 MQ: 85

Guppie: “What a display of endurance from those two men. They were going all out the entire match and just laying into each other.”

Patterson: “KENTA unleashed his best strikes and Brandon soaked them up and fought back hard. The air raid crash off the top rope was brutal and there was no way KENTA was going to kick out of that.”

Guppie: “That was a great way to start this year’s Midwest Invitational Tournament. After the commercial break we come back with the second match of the tournament as Joey Ryan takes on CM Punk.”

Patterson: “CM Punk is undefeated in the SMWA right now and Joey Ryan is a guy who has struggled to win here despite his great talent. If he can get a win against Punk though that would vindicate him.”

Segment 2: The Straight and Narrow

CM Punk comes out from the back and walks down to the ring showered with boos from the crowd. Punk ignores them and rolls into the ring under the bottom rope then gets up to his feet and takes the mic from the announcer.

Punk: “A lot of you fans keep asking me why I’m here instead of still in the WWE. I don’t think it’s any of your business but I’m going to let you guys know because I’m not ashamed of the reasons. I’m not in the WWE because some people were too afraid of me. They were afraid of how well I work and how much I can take. I’m sure you people have seen my matches. You’ve seen me go to one hour draws and ninety-minute matches. Not just anybody can do that as easily and as often as I do and that scares people. If it wasn’t for politics I would have shown everybody in the WWE what I can do and they would have no choice but to keep on giving me bigger and bigger chances until I became the champ and dominated the WWE until I was ready to give it up.

“But somebody was afraid of me and I was thrown out the door. Now I’m back here in the gym and I’m still the best in the business and I’m going to win the belt here in the SMWA and dominate this promotion. On the way to winning hte belt I’m going to win the Midwest Invitational Tournament as so many past champions have. Maybe I’ll even take the Premier Title as well. Holding all the belts is what every wrestler wants to do and it gives me the power that I rightly deserve in this promotion. Earlier Brandon Thomaselli won his match which means I face him in the second round after I beat Joey Ryan. I don’t know if you fans know this but one month ago when I debuted here I beat Brandon down and got the submission with the Anaconda Vice. Tonight Joey Ryan will suffer that same fate and in two weeks Brandon is going to feel the vice again.”

OA: 78

Punk rolls backwards up to his feet and drives a shoulder into the midsection of Ryan as he moves in. Punk stands up and drives a knee into the midsection of Ryan and then puts him into an abdominal stretch. Ryan fights the hold and moves towards the ropes but can’t grab them. Guppie: “CM Punk gets the win over Joey Ryan and moves on to the second round of the tournament to face Brandon Thomaselli.”

Patterson: “Punk has managed to prove he deserves all the recognition he gets in the ring.”

Guppie: “After the commercial break we have our main event as Petey Williams takes on Prime Time member Ricky Reyes.”

Patterson: “This should be a good match. Williams has a grudge against Prime Time and Reyes is a brutal fighter. This is going to be a hard fought match.”

Segment 4: Petey Williams vs. Ricky Reyes

Williams comes out from the back to cheers from the crowd but it’s cut short as Reyes runs out from the back and sends Williams down to the floor with a big forearm shot. Guppie: “All hell is breaking loose in the ring right now. I don’t know why Joel Gertner’s clients are out here but they were ready for a fight.”

Patterson: “They have their hands full with the members of Prime Time that’s for sure.”

Segment 5: Pier Six Brawl

All eight men brawl in the ring until Williams and the Gertner Associates start to gain the advantage when the Prime Time members bail out of the ring to regroup. Williams calls for the mic and gets it.

Williams: “I knew you assholes were going to try something tonight so I got an insurance policy. I talked to Joel Gertner and I got his guys on my side. It was pretty easy considering you have pissed them off almost as much as you have me. Tonight you guys took some lumps in this ring that you deserved. You did a good job of cheating though and gave me some sore spots too. Skipper I’m coming for that belt around your waist and I am going to have it. Last time we met you cheated to keep that belt around your waist. I’m going to get another title shot and I want to have the match in the cage.”

Skipper manages to procure a mic on the outside.

Skipper: “I bet you would like a cage match with me but that’s too damn bad for you! Actually, I’ve got a deal for you. Since I’m the champ, SMWA management keeps in close contact with me, it’s not something I enjoy but there it is. They are telling me that you are one of the top contenders for the belt. I don’t know where they come up with that but that’s what they tell me. They also say Samoa Joe is gunning for a shot at this belt and he deserves a shot. So if you want to have a steel cage match with me you are going to have to earn it by beating Samoa Joe at the Midwest Invitation Tournament show. But in order to get that stipulation you have to add something of your own. If you lose the match you never get a shot at this belt as long as a member of Prime Time holds the belt.”

Williams: “That’s fine with me. I can beat Joe and when I get you in the cage I’ll beat your ass and take the belt!”

Skipper: “We’ll see about that. Now I have some deals for the other chumps in your group there. It seems that I don’t have an opponent for the Midwest Invitational Tournament show and the belt has to be on the line but there isn’t a challenger ready to step forward yet. I know Johnny Spade back there wants a shot at my belt don’t you? There are only two things you have to do. First your buddies the Backseat Boys have to give Ricky Reyes and B-Boy a shot at the tag belts. Puma would team up with Reyes but he’s going to be busy winning the tournament. Secondly, this is a bit of a bigger deal, you have to put your career on the line. You haven’t earned this shot so if you want it you need to put something at stake and your career is just the thing.”

Spade takes the mic from Williams in the ring.

Spade: “You’ve got a deal! I may not have earned the shot at the title but I deserve it. I’ve been with this company from the start and I’ve been somebody to pay attention to that whole time. Gertner promised me a shot but I don’t see any point in waiting. If I can win the belt I don’t want to be here anymore. The Backseat Boys take on all challengers and they’ve beaten Prime Time teams before and one more match against your boys isn’t going to scare them.”

Skipper: “Good, it looks like I made booking the show a lot easier for the boys in the back. You chumps better bring you’re a-game because you are going against Prime Time and are going to be on the big stage and I don’t think you guys can hack it.”

Skipper drops the mic and Prime Time backs out of the arena as the crowd cheers for the four men in the ring.

Guppie: “Wow! What an end to the show. We have just had three big matches announced for the Midwest Invitational Tournament on November fifteenth.”

Patterson: “That is if those matches stand. They aren’t official yet but if any one of those matches are approved it will make the show even bigger than it already is.”

Guppie: “Fans that is all we have for you tonight but be sure to tune in next week to see the last two first round matches in the Midwest Invitational Tournament.”

Patterson: “For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson thanks for watching. Check out smwawrestling.com for info on the Midwest Invitational Tournament and your favorite wrestlers.”

There is good news and bad news. I'm pretty much done with all of my school work and the semester ends sometime next week. However the internet server is down in my dorm so I won't be on often to update stuff unless they fix it. However I should be able to write shows faster now that I don't have schoolwork and when I go home I won't have any work either. Plus when I get home I'll have regular internet access. I'll post the next update Thursday or Friday.

Guppie: “What a match between those two men. Black Tiger had Vito down but Vito fought back and hit some big moves to finish him off.”

Patterson: “Tiger had a good plan but he just couldn’t finish him off. Vito has continuously won matches in the SMWA and proven himself to be championship material.”

Segment 3: Second City Rises

CM Punk and Ace Steel come out from the back to boos from the crowd. Both men take their time to get in the fans faces as they walk to the ring. Both men slide in and Punk takes the mic from the announcer.

Punk: “Why don’t you fans sit down and shut up while I’ve got the mic! Ace Steel and I are teaming up to become the Tag Team Champions. We’ll be honest, both of us would rather have singles gold but a belt is a belt and the two of us never turn down an opportunity. The Backseat Boys may be the best tag team in the SMWA but that’s only because Ace and I aren’t a permanent team here. Ace has proven how tough he is here in the SMWA and has always been at the top of the card. Since I’ve returned to the SMWA I haven’t lost a match. The two of us are a force to be reckoned with. Tonight Ace and I are going to win the tag belts. Then on Saturday, I’m going to win the rest of the Midwest Invitational Tournament and after that I’m coming after the SMWA Championship, no matter who has it!

“Ace and I are best friends and he trained me and brought me up in this business. He helped me become the wrestler I am today and now I’m helping him to become the wrestler I know he can be. Tonight, the Backseat Boys are going to be in for an ass-whoopin’! Not only can the two of us wrestle we can fight dirty and we will. We will out-wrestle those two, and we will brawl all over the building with them. You fans are lucky to be here tonight and witness this massacre! Tonight, I’m going to show the boys in the back that I haven’t lost any of my ruthlessness while I was in the WWE. Some of the boys have been talking s*** about me and they are going to find out that they were wrong! I would prefer to give each and every one of them a personal beating but I’ve got more important things to do than deal with some jealous boys in the back who aren’t worth my time. They can just look at the Backseat Boys after this match and find out why they don’t want to mess with me! So those two punks can come out here right now and get their beating!”

Guppie: “The Backseat Boys manage to pull victory from the jaws of defeat against the Second City Saints in a brutal match.”

Patterson: “Punk said he was going to prove he hadn’t lost any of his brutality and he did by opening a massive cut on Acid’s forehead brawling on the outside but it wasn’t enough to get the win.”

Guppie: “The Backseat Boys aren’t amateurs at brawls and they took a beating and kept fighting in that impressive title defense.”

Segment 5: Jumping the Champs

B-Boy helps Reyes out of the pile of table pieces and bodies then takes the mic from the announcer.

B-Boy: “Last week Johnny Spade accepted our challenge for you guys. After the beating you took tonight at the hands of the Second City Saints and then our finishing touches there is no way you sons of bitches are walking out with the belts. All the gold is going home with Prime Time and there isn’t going to be anything you can do about it!”

B-Boy throws the mic down then takes one of the tag belts from Reyes and the two men pose with the belts in the ring.

OA: 72

Patterson: “There goes Prime Time showing their true colors with a sneak attack on the Backseat Boys after they just had a brutal match.”

Guppie: “That was despicable! Acid was already a mess and that shining wizard reopened his cut, not to mention putting both of them through the table.”

Patterson: “Those are the tactics that Prime Time has always used in order to gain an advantage and with title belts on the line they aren’t going to ease up.”

Guppie: “That’s all we have for you fans tonight. Come check out the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament Five in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The Backseat Boys will defend their tag belts against B-Boy and Reyes and look to gain a measure of revenge.”

Patterson: “We also have Johnny Spade putting his career against Elix Skipper’s title in the main event plus other great action. Check out smwawrestling.com for a full card for the show and details on the venue.”

I'll have the preview up for the next show Saturday.

Midwest Invitational Tournament V Card

November 12, 2008

www.smwawrestling.com

We are just three days away from the finals of the Midwest Invitational Tournament which should be a huge show. The show will be on November 15, in Ypsilanti with the doors opening at 6 PM and the show starting at 7 PM. We have a huge show lined up with these matches.

Brandon Thomaselli vs. CM Punk (Round 2)

CM Punk got a win over Brandon in his return match to the SMWA and he looks to repeat here as they clash in second round action.

Vito Thomaselli vs. Puma (Round 2)

Vito looks to regain his place as a former SMWA Champion, while Puma hopes to keep his place near the top of the card protecting Elix Skipper’s championship reign.

Jack Evans ©vs. Joey Ryan vs. Sal Thomaselli vs. Ricky Marvin (SMWA Premier Title)

Jack Evans makes his first title defense in a four way match against three great competitors. Evans has a tough task in his first defense and may have a short reign.

Backseat Boys ©vs. B-Boy & Ricky Reyes (SMWA Tag Team Championship)

Reyes and B-Boy get this title shot thanks to some manipulation from Elix Skipper. After a brutal title defense against the Second City Saints, B-Boy and Reyes jumped the champs and left them laying in the ring. Acid was a bloody mess and Kashmere was KO’d. Now they have to get into the ring with the two in less than perfect shape, looking for some revenge.

Midwest Invitational Finals

We crown the fifth tournament champion in this match.

Petey Williams vs. Samoa Joe (#1 Contender’s Match)

Petey Williams faces Samoa Joe in a #1 contender’s match. Not only is a title shot on the line but if Williams loses he never gets another shot at Skipper for the belt. If Williams wins he gets Skipper in a cage in December. Joe has said that he deserves a shot and he gets a chance to prove it and earn a shot at the gold.

Elix Skipper ©vs. Johnny Spade (SMWA Championship)

Skipper offered Spade a shot at the belt and he put his career on the line. Skipper has managed to use dirty tactics to keep his belt around his waist but his Prime Time friends have a lot of work to do earlier in the night and may not be able to give him any help. Plus if they do try to show up Spade has the help of Joel Gertner and the Backseat Boys to even the odds.

Come to Ypsilanti and check out the action Tickets are just $15 or $20 for ringside seats. Come and witness all the great, live action!

Guppie: “Jack Evans retains the Premier Title in a fast paced match by getting the pin on Marvin.”

Patterson: “All four of those men had chances to win the match but Evans managed to get a pin when everybody else was down and out.”

Guppie: “That’s the trick of winning a four way match. Our next match is going to be heated. The Backseat Boys defend the tag titles against Ricky Reyes and B-Boy of Prime Time. The Backseat Boys managed to successfully defend the belts against CM Punk and Ace Steel last week and Reyes and B-Boy brutally attacked them after the match.”

Guppie: “I don’t know what condition the champs are going to be in for this match.”

Guppie: “That wasn’t a match at all but a war and the Backseat Boys got some revenge and walked out of here with the belts but that isn’t going to be the last meeting between these two teams.”

Patterson: “That is for sure. These two teams are getting violent in a hurry. This is just the start and it’s only going to get worse.”

Patterson: “Brandon had a longer match today but he did have more time to rest so I’m not sure how this match is going to go. Both of these men are great wrestlers but it all depends on how well conditioned they are.”

Guppie: “Neither man has had really long matches in the SMWA but I’ve seen Brandon wrestle for over half an hour and I have no idea how Puma can handle a longer match and a little bit of wear from an earlier match.”

Guppie: “We’ve been talking about how Brandon has all the talent he just needs to get the big win and he has done that here tonight. He beat KENTA, CM Punk and Puma in order to win the SMWA Midwest Invitational Tournament.”

Patterson: “Brandon was an underdog going into this tournament but he really showed all of his talent in these matches and he deserved the win here tonight and he earned it in a brutal match against Puma.”

Guppie: “Our next match is for a shot at the SMWA Championship as Petey Williams takes on Samoa Joe. Williams has even more on the line than a shot at the title. Elix Skipper added the stipulations that if Williams wins they will meet in a steel cage match, if Joe wins Williams won’t get a shot at the belt as long as a member of Prime Time holds the belt.”

Patterson: “Skipper may have thought he was putting one over on Williams but adding those stipulations is just going to make him fight harder. He’s going to have to be fighting as hard as he can against Joe. Joe obviously has the size advantage and he’s going to go straight for Williams who’s going to have to stick and run to win this match.”

Guppie: “Petey Williams pulls out a big victory over Samoa Joe after taking a brutal beating.”

Patterson: “Williams went right at Joe in the beginning of the match and Joe showed him the mistake there. Williams was fueled to keep on going because he wanted Skipper in the cage and he wouldn’t go down. He fought back and managed to hit big moves when he could.”

Guppie: “Williams hands Joe his first loss here in the SMWA and earns himself a title shot in one month. Against the winner of our next match. If Skipper does win it will be in a steel cage.”

Patterson: “If Skipper wins it’s going to be a brutal match, if Spade wins it’s going to be a great contest between two men who respect each other. No matter what the outcome of this next match it’s good news for our fans.”

Segment 7: My Belt, Your Career

Johnny Spade is waiting in the ring stretching when Skipper comes out from the back with the belt over his shoulder and a mic in his hands.

Skipper: “I’ve got some good news for you Johnny, I have no backup tonight. B-Boy and Ricky were laid out in the ring against the Backseat Boys and Puma is tired after his two grueling matches tonight. This hasn’t been a good night for Prime Time so far. That’s happened before though. I respect the other members of the group but there is a reason that I’m the leader and the champ and that’s because I’m better than they are and I’m going to prove that tonight. I hope you brought your ‘A’ game, Johnny. Tonight I have my belt on the line, but you have your career on the line. A lot of boys in the back respect you because you’ve been here from the start. I don’t respect you for that same reason.

“You’ve been here since this company started and you really haven’t done a damn thing. You teamed up with Halo to never win the SMWA Tag Titles and then you broke up and Halo showed what he could do while you formed a tag team with Jimmy Jacobs so that he could carry you like Halo did. Then you had some matches against Halo since you guys had that history and every time people would say you put up a good showing but that’s just because you never won a match. You have always been a second rate wrestler Johnny and tonight I’m going to put you out of your misery. This belt isn’t leaving me anytime soon especially not to somebody like you. Tonight you’ll be saying goodbye to the SMWA and don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.”

OA: 75

Guppie: “Elix Skipper just read Johnny Spade the riot act. I don’t think that was a good idea though. His stipulations lit a fire under Williams earlier tonight and they could do the same thing with Spade.”

Patterson: “Spade may not have any belts but he has always been a class act which is more than you can say about Skipper. Spade is a top competitor here in the SMWA and Skipper is taking him too lightly.”

Guppie: “Elix Skipper gets the win and eliminated Johnny Spade from the SMWA!”

Patterson: “Considering Spade had his career on the line he didn’t seem to be performing at his best and Skipper put him down for the count.”

Guppie: “That means we’ll see Elix Skipper defend the SMWA Championship against Petey Williams in a cage next month, it should be a brutal fight.”

Patterson: “Thanks for joining us tonight fans for a great night of action. Check out smwawrestling.com for info on future shows and information on your favorite wrestlers.”

Rage Episode #25 (SMWA Gym, Detroit)

November 18, 2008

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Segment 1: The Challenge

Elix Skipper comes out from the back with Ricky Reyes, B-Boy and Puma following him. Skipper has the belt around his waist as the group walks cockily to the ring and then enters it. Skipper goes to the announcer and takes the mic from his hands.

Skipper: “Last night I ended Johnny Spade’s career. He wanted a shot at the belt and he put his career on the line and he could not beat me. I know that doesn’t come as a surprise to you fans who know how good I am. However, not everything went as planned. Puma didn’t win the tournament, B-Boy and Reyes didn’t win the tag belts, and worst of all Petey Williams won a match with me in the cage. I’m not worried about that. I’ve been Petey before and I’ll beat him again. Tonight, I’ve got a challenge for Petey Williams. There are four members of Prime Time and there were four members of his group with the Backseat Boys and Johnny Spade. I don’t know if you can get anybody to join your team but I’m giving you a chance to check out your competition before the belt is on the line. But mostly, I’m giving you a chance to get your ass kicked and see that you don’t want to step into the cage with me. I’m going to wait here for your response and give you some time to find a fourth man for your team. Providing that the Backseat Boys aren’t afraid to get into the ring with B-Boy and Reyes.”

Guppie: “What a way to start off our show tonight. I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined on commentary by Mike Patterson as always.”

Patterson: “We are going to commercial break and we’ll be back with Petey Williams’ response. I’m sure Williams will accept as he’s always ready for a fight.”

Guppie: “That is true. Petey Williams and the Backseat Boys had brutal matches last night but they never back down from a fight. I don’t think they’ll have any trouble finding somebody in the back who will join them in taking on Prime Time.”

As the show comes back from commercial break Petey Williams is standing at the entrance with the Backseat Boys and a mic.

Williams: “Listen up jackass! I am not afraid of you, nor are Trent and Johnny. We will gladly step up to your challenge and we will win this match! The Backseat Boys kept their belts despite your dogs jumping them after one of their title defenses. They went into the crowd and took the match to the floor and put B-Boy and Reyes in their place. I put it all on the line to beat Samoa Joe last night and I can’t wait to step into the cage with you. Last time you won by cheating but that isn’t going to happen this time. Now, tonight we had a slight problem. You did send Johnny Spade packing last night and now our side only has three people. But it wasn’t hard to find a fourth person. It just took us a couple of minutes and we had a bunch of choices. We could have found other people who don’t like you and there are a bunch of them in the back. We thought about bringing Brandon Thomaselli back into the group. But then somebody heard your challenge and stepped up to us and asked to join this match. This isn’t somebody who wants this match because they dislike you, but somebody who wants this chance to prove himself in the SMWA and I am not going to deny him that opportunity. This man has proven his skills in the ring many places but now he’s going to prove it here and that man is AJ Styles!”

Styles walks out from the back to a big pop from the crowd and gets some worried looks on the faces of Prime Time as the four men start walking down to the ring to start the match.

OA: 78

Guppie: “This is going to be an epic match here. These two teams are stacked up against each other. Elix Skipper is the SMWA Champion and Petey Williams is the number one contender. The Backseat Boys are the tag team champions and B-Boy and Reyes are gunning for those belts. AJ Styles and Puma are just two of the most talented wrestlers in the business today. Styles has proven himself in TNA while Puma made his name in NJPW and Mexico.”

Patterson: “You could not be any more right Brian. These two teams are composed of the best talent and they are going to be going all out here.”

Segment 2: Prime Time vs. Petey Williams, The Backseat Boys & AJ Styles (Elimination Match)

Skipper and Williams start the match. The two men circle around and Williams goes for a lockup but Skipper avoids it and then tags Puma into the match to boos from the crowd. Guppie: “Petey Williams proves that he is the better man tonight as he eliminated Elix Skipper to be the last man standing in this eight man tag.”

Patterson: “Skipper managed to avoid the Canadian destroyer twice and then set himself up for it and Williams took it to get the win. What a fantastic match.”

Guppie: “Petey Williams pins Skipper tonight and he’s hoping he can do that when he gets his title shot in the cage as well.”

Patterson: “You know he wants that belt around his waist again and this is only going to make him more pumped. Be sure to tune in next week for more action and check out smwawrestling.com for upcoming shows and info on your favorite wrestlers.”

It took a while but it's done. I still don't have internet access in my room so that sucks but I'm still writing for now. We'll see what my class load is like and see if I can keep this going or if I'll have to slow down more than I already am.

SMWA Rage Card

November 20, 2008

www.smwawrestling.com

Last week Prime Time disrupted the show and made a challenge that they couldn’t live up to. Petey Williams, AJ Styles, Trent Acid & Johnny Kashmere stepped up and put Prime Time in their place. But that is the past.

Our next show is taped on November 23 in the SMWA Gym in Detroit as always. We have a card lined up with some debuts and some returns and it should be a lively show.

The Wild Cards vs. The Thomaselli Brothers

Vito and Sal Thomaselli take on the debuting Wild Cards, Eddie Kingston and Jack Marciano. The Thomasellis are looking to prove themselves as a tag team here and the Wild Cards want to establish themselves in their debut.

Black Tiger IV vs. Josh Abercrombie

Abercrombie has his second match in the SMWA. He has almost a big a challenge as he did against Nate Mattson. Black Tiger has a reputation to live up to and he has done that well so far. Josh wants to make a name for himself but he’s going to have a tough time when he takes on the tough Black Tiger.

Nate Mattson Challenge

Nate Mattson once again lays out an open challenge to whoever wants to step up to take on the former champ and a man who has been undefeated since his return. Challengers have to remember that when you step into the ring with Mattson the rules don’t apply.

Also see Jack Evans, Prime Time and the Backseat Boys in action. Tickets are just $10.

Rage Episode #26 (SMWA Gym, Detroit)

November 25, 2008

Patterson: “We sure do. I’m Mike Patterson and I’m joined on commentary by Brian Guppie.”

Guppie: “We are starting the show off tonight with tag team action as the Wild Cards debut against the Thomaselli Brothers.”

Patterson: “These are two talented teams but both teams have a more distinguished singles wrestler. Eddie Kingston for the Wild Cards and Vito for the Thomaselli Brothers. That’s going to be an interesting factor in this match.”

Segment 1: The Wild Cards

Eddie Kingston and Jack Marciano walk out from the back and enter the ring to a muted response from the crowd. Kingston grabs the mic from the announcer and goes to it.

Kingston: “Listen up you pieces of trash! I wouldn’t expect people like you to know who we are! I’m Eddie Kingston and this is my partner Jack Marciano. We are a tag team the likes of which you guys haven’t seen before. We dominated the tag division in Chikara and we are going to dominate the division here too. Tonight we are going to take the Thomaselli Brothers down and that is just going to be the start. Our path to the title starts tonight and there is going to be no stopping us!”

Segment 4: The Hardcore Challenge

As the show comes back from commercial Mattson is standing in the ring with the mic in hand.

Mattson: “Lately I haven’t been on television or appearing at SMWA’s big shows. I know, it’s been hard on you fans and it’s been hard on me too. I want to be out here proving how much better I am than everybody in the back. I come in here and dominate people in the ring and then the management puts me on the backburner. They had the Midwest Invitational Tournament and they didn’t invite me! I won the first one and I made that tournament what it was and they have the gall to leave me out of this one! Everywhere I look I see the SMWA slighting me. Petey Williams got screwed in his shot at the belt and they have him a chance to win another shot but I don’t get that same opportunity. Elix got disqualified in his match against me and I haven’t gotten another shot at the belt. I’m going to show the guys in the back that I deserve a shot at the belt and I’m going to prove that tonight. I want anybody in the back to come out here and take me on in a no-dq match! Anything goes and I want somebody to step up to this challenge now!”

Mattson doesn’t have to wait long before familiar strains hit the speaker and the crowd pops as Low Ki walks out from backstage and comes down to the ring.

OA: 75

Guppie: “Mattson has had good luck with these challenges but he may have more than he can handle as he goes up against Low Ki.”

The Wild Cards beat Vito and Sal Thomaselli last week. Eddie wants to prove himself in the singles scene and he’s going to take on Brandon the winner of the Midwest Invitational Tournament. Eddie is a hard hitter but he’s got a big challenge with Brandon.

Trent Acid vs. Black Tiger IV

After losing the tag belts Acid faces Tiger in a singles match which pits two tough competitors against each other.

AJ Styles & Jerry Lynn vs. Spanky & Paul London vs. CM Punk & Mystery Partner

The SMWA has decided to kick up the tag division a notch and three of our biggest stars were asked to find a partner for this match. AJ Styles brought in his tag partner from TNA in Jerry Lynn. Paul London went and got fellow TWA trainee Spanky to join him. CM Punk hasn’t named his partner yet but he assures us he will find one that will outclass the others. On the line is a shot at the Tag Team Titles. These are three high-profile teams in a high-stakes match.

You will also see the Thomaselli Brothers, The Lost Foundation, Petey Williams, Puma and the SMWA Champion Elix Skipper, as well as others. Tickets are just $10 and the show is at the SMWA Gym in Detroit.

Rage Episode #27 (SMWA Gym, Detroit)

December 2, 2008

Announcer: Brian Guppie

Color Commentator: Mike Patterson

Guppie: “Welcome to SMWA Rage! I’m Brian Guppie and I’m joined on commentary by Mike Patterson.”

Patterson: “We have an exciting show lined up for you fans tonight with a great main event. Before we get to some matches though CM Punk is in the ring with something to say.”

Segment 1: Punk Sets the Scene

Punk is standing in the ring with the mic as the boos start to die down.

Punk: “Thanks for the warm reception. After I lost the Midwest Invitational Tournament match to Brandon Thomaselli I was pretty down. I went into that locker room and I was disappointed in myself. I beat Brandon in my first match here and then when the pressure was on I folded. Let’s be honest, when it mattered he beat me and I respect him for that. But that didn’t make me feel any better. So, I’m sitting in the locker room with my head hung low. Then in comes the owner. He tells me that they want to improve the tag division and that I have a chance to win the belts. All I had to do was find a partner and win a triple threat tag match to get a shot at the gold.”

My first instinct was to call Ace Steel, since we just had a title shot together, and ask him if he wanted to join me but he told me he was in Japan and couldn’t partner with. Then I called my good friend, Colt Cabana, but he told me he was in Ring of Honor. I was feeling down, but then I called up Chris Hero! But he told me he had to work Ring of Honor as well. Thinking of Hero brought me around to the idea of people I’ve had good matches against and I called up Samoa Joe but he was going to be in Japan as well. At this point I started to get worried. Then I decided to just find the best wrestler I could to team up with me. I don’t care if they have any connection with me. Who wouldn’t want a shot at the SMWA Tag Team Titles? So that became my new tactic and my first call paid off. I made a call to Southern California and I got my partner. The phone call was a little weird because the guy I called didn’t talk he sort of grunted. So instead I got on the computer and messengered Super Dragon! That’s right, tonight, you fans get to see the team of CM Punk and Super Dragon in the main event. Those punks facing off against us are going to get the crap kicked out of them by the two of us and this is going to be one simple step to getting a shot at the belts.”

OA: 83

Guppie: “Our main event for the night is set as CM Punk and Super Dragon take on AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn as well as the team of Paul London and Spanky.”

Patterson: “That’s going to be an amazing match. Before we get there we start off with singles action as Brandon Thomaselli takes on Eddie Kingston.”

Guppie: Brandon is coming off his momentum of winning the Midwest Invitational Tournament and he’s a hot commodity right now.”

Patterson: “Kingston is a hard hitter and is going to be using his power to beat the smaller Brandon but Brandon has more speed which evens things out as long as he can avoid being trapped by Eddie.”

Segment 2: Brandon Thomaselli vs. Eddie Kingston

Brandon and Eddie face off in the middle of the ring and Eddie goes for the lockup but Brandon grabs an arm of Eddie and ducks behind him right into a hammerlock. Brandon climbs up to the second rope for a superplex but Eddie blocks it. Eddie hits Brandon with some forearms to the head then shoves him down to the mat. Eddie starts to stand up but Brandon charges at him then jumps up and hits a backflip kick to the top of Eddie’s head sitting him down on the top rope. Brandon climbs up to the top rope and pulls Eddie up and takes him off the top with a superplex. Brandon gets up to his feet then hits a standing shooting star press. Guppie: “Brandon Thomaselli picks up a win over Eddie Kingston in a back and forth match.”

Patterson: “Kingston delivered quite a bit of damage but Brandon took it all and kept coming back and took the win.”

Guppie: When we come back from commercial break we have the champ, Elix Skipper in the back and then highlights from the match between Black Tiger Four and Trent Acid.”

Segment 3: The Champ has Spoken

Elix Skipper is backstage standing in front of a blank wall.

Skipper: “In the eight man elimination tag two weeks ago Petey Williams surprised me. He showed me he actually has some grit in his character. Petey earned some respect from me, not a lot but some. In honor of that respect I’m going to give Petey a demonstration of what is going to happen to him in the cage. You just saw Brandon Thomaselli beat Eddie Kingston and he did win the Midwest Invitational Tournament. So, because of his recent accomplishments I’m going to give him a title shot and it’s going to be in a steel cage match. Brandon is going to serve as an example for Petey and he’s going to get a shot at the gold next week if he is willing to step in the cage with me.”

OA: 78

Segment 4: Black Tiger IV vs. Trent Acid (Clipped)

As we come into the end of the match Acid sends Tiger into the ropes then bounces off the ropes himself and crushes Tiger with a brutal yakuza kick folding him up on the top of his head. Acid hooks a leg for the cover and gets a long two count. Acid pulls Tiger up to his feet and goes for a reverse brainbuster but Tiger flips over and lands on his feet behind Acid. Tiger butterflies the wings of Acid and takes him over with a tiger suplex and bridges the hold but he has to break the hold at the count of two and clutch at the back of his neck. Tiger slowly gets up to his feet as does Acid. The two men start trading forearm shots back and forth. Acid gets the advantage then bounces off the ropes for a Yakuza kick but Tiger catches the leg of Acid and drops him on the top of his head with a capture suplex. Guppie: “I’m sorry we couldn’t show you the whole match but instead we get the entire main event and you won’t be sorry.”

Patterson: “How could you be? Six of the best wrestlers in the world are going to be in that ring battling for a shot at the tag team titles. They are out there to earn something and they aren’t going to hold back.”

Guppie: “All three of these teams are great but the team of Punk and Super Dragon could be at a disadvantage because they’ve never teamed together before.”

Patterson: “London and Spanky have the experience edge in this match and considering how good everybody is that edge might be what they need. To remind everybody this is one fall to a finish.”

Segment 5: AJ Styles & Jerry Lynn vs. Paul London & Spanky vs. CM Punk & Super Dragon

They will face The Backseat Boys next week. But we have a great show lined up this week as well. Tapings take place Saturday in the SMWA gym.

Apollo Kahn & Azrael vs. The Thomaselli Brothers

Jack Evans ©vs. Spanky (SMWA Premier Championship)

Jack Evans makes a title defense against Spanky in what should be an exciting match. These two men are both great junior heavyweights. Spanky uses a more mat based style while Evans is the best high flyer to ever step into the ring.

Elix Skipper ©vs. Brandon Thomaselli (Cage Match, SMWA Championship)

Last week on SMWA, Skipper made a challenge to Brandon to meet him in a cage. Skipper wants to make an example of Brandon for Petey Williams to get a sneak peak at. However Brandon has earned this shot by winning the Midwest Invitational Tournament. We’ll see what happens when these two meet in the main event.

Notes: *3/4

OA: 64 CR: 53 MQ: 76

Guppie: “The Thomaselli Brothers take home a victory over the new team of Apollo Kahn and Azreal.”

Patterson: “Both of those teams were throwing out their big moves early in the match and got some quick near falls.”

Guppie: “Up next we have the SMWA Premier Championship on the line as Jack Evans defends against Spanky.”

Patterson: “Spanky has a big reputation from his work in WWE, RoH and in Japan and he has more mat skill and harder hitting ability than Evans but Evans has a huge advantage in the high flying department.”

Segment 2: Premier Champ For the People

Jack Evans comes out from the back accompanied by Alicia Webb meeting Kahn and Azrael in the ring.

Alicia: “As you fans may have noticed, Teddy Hart has abandoned his team here. But that doesn’t matter. I took the initiative and gave these guys new motivation. Teddy could never win a belt but now Jack Evans is the Premier Champion. I’ve formed this new tag team of Apollo Kahn and Azreal. They may have started a little slow tonight but once they get into the flow of things they will be a team to be feared. Azrael has proven his abilities in the tag team ranks before and is a former SMWA Champion and it will be a short time before he is a tag team champion once again. Right now, you fans get to see Jack Evans defend the belt against Spanky. A man who hasn’t had to earn his shot at the belt. He’s only had one other match in the SMWA and it was a tag team match that he lost. Jack came back to the SMWA as a former SMWA champion, the second champ ever and he still had to earn a shot at that belt. He then had to earn his shot at the Permier Championship and he did that and capitalized. Spanky, you aren’t going to be able to waltz in here and take the belt from him. You may have a reputation but Jack has the skill and he’s not going to let that belt go. Spanky, you are going to step into this ring and see what Jack is all about.”

Skipper: “Tonight, Petey Williams gets a preview of what is going to happen to him at the Year End Blowout. He thought he put one over on me when he got his title shot and got it inside of a cage. The cage may take Prime Time out of the equation but it doesn’t take care of his biggest problem, me. The cage may keep Prime Time out but it gives me one more weapon to use against you Petey and I am going to use it with ruthless abandon. I’m going to use it tonight against Brandon as well and you are going to see blood flow here tonight. Ever since I made my challenge I’ve been hearing people say that Brandon Thomaselli could upset me and take the SMWA Championship away from me. They tell me to look at the fact that he’s beaten CM Punk and Puma but I’m not worried. Brandon, you may be the Midwest Invitational Champion but I wasn’t in that tournament to stop you. You have earned a shot at the title and tonight I’m going to stop your momentum in the worst way. That cage is your doom tonight, Brandon, and it’s going to be Petey’s doom too.”

Guppie: “Elix Skipper got the win over Brandon but I don’t think it was anywhere near as easy as he expected it to be.”

Patterson: “I guarantee it wasn’t. Brandon almost had Skipper a couple of times but the blood loss slowed him down at the times when he had the advantage and stopped him from capitalizing.”

Guppie: “That’s all the action we have for you fans here tonight. Thanks for watching and be sure to tune in next week.”

I deleted what I had already written for the show and had to start over. Luckily, I hadn’t actually written anything so I didn’t lose anything. I lost all of the scores but I’ll just put the overall scores up and that will be good enough for each segment I guess.

Guppie: “Up next is our main event as AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn challenge the Backseat Boys for the SMWA Tag Team Titles.”

Patterson: “Lynn and Styles were a dominant tag team in the early days of TNA and they have reformed here because both men want some gold around their waists.”

Segment 4: Backseat’s Back, Alright

Joel Gertner is backstage flanked by Trent Acid and Johnny Kashmere, the Backseat Boys.

Gertner: “What you people see right here are the most dominant tag team champions the SMWA has ever seen. What you see here are two men who have beaten every team that has stepped up to take them on. Tonight they face a tough challenge as the dream team of AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn steps up to challenge for the belts. Styles and Lynn are great wrestlers but they don’t have the team work of the Backseat Boys. Tonight Styles and Lynn are going to find out what makes the Backseat Boys so great.

“And then we have Reyes, B-Boy and the rest of Prime Time trying to take these belts away from us. They have been using whatever they can lay their hands on in order to injure the Backseat Boys and try to give themselves an advantage but it isn’t going to work. B-Boy and Reyes may be thugs but the Backseat Boys know what hardcore wrestling is all about. These two have fought the best in all kinds of environments and they fight wherever there is a fight to be had. These two are the flag-bearers of the Gertner Associates and they are carrying the SMWA into the future.

“Since I’m talking about the Gertner Associates we have Petey Williams challenging Elix Skipper for the SMWA Championship. We backed Petey up when he needed the help and he has stepped up into the spot vacated by Johnny Spade. The Gertner Associates are riding high and I will keep these men on the right path no matter what happens in the back.”

OA: 69

Guppie: “Joel Gertner is confident about the Backseat Boys retaining the belts tonight and in the future.”

Patterson: “The fans may not know it but Gertner has been very influential for the guys he manages in the back. He may not be out there cheering them on but he gets his business done in the back.”

Patterson: “Check out smwawrestling.com for info on upcoming shows and to stay up to date on everything that happens in the SMWA. For Brian Guppie, I’m Mike Patterson, thanks for watching.”

Heading to the End of the Year

www.smwawrestling.com

December 19, 2008

The scene is heating up as we head to the Year End Blowout. We have already signed some big matches for the show and this is the current card for the show.

Elix Skipper ©vs. Petey Williams (SMWA Championship, Steel Cage Match)

Backseat Boys ©vs. B-Boy & Ricky Reyes (SMWA Tag Team Championship, Street Fight)

Nate Mattson vs. Spanky

Paul London vs. Puma

More matches will be added as the show takes place on December 27 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

But before that we have the tapings for the Rage episode and the following matches have been signed.

Azrael vs. Josh Abercrombie

Abercrombie takes on a member of Alicia Webb’s stable and if he can win he’ll get a shot at the SMWA Premier Title at the Year End Blow Out. If he loses Jack Evans does not have to make a title defense.

Ricky Marvin vs. Spanky

Two great junior heavyweights square off in this match and the only thing on the line is bragging rights.

AJ Styles & Jerry Lynn vs. Alex Shelley & Austin Aries

Styles and Lynn look to continue get their tag team back on a winning path but they have a tough challenge. Austin Aries is an amazing athlete as is Shelley but he may have some ring rust after missing a couple of months from an injury. Both of these teams look to get a win here and put themselves in contention for the tag titles.

The tapings will take place in the SMWA gym in Detroit on December 21. Tickets are just $10. You’ll also see Homicide, Petey Williams, the Backseat Boys and Prime Time in action.

Segment 1: To Meet a Champion

After Abercrombie makes his entrance, Alicia Webb escorts Azrael down to the ring and she takes the mic.

Webb: “Tonight, Josh, you are getting a chance at a big opportunity. If you can win this match you’ll get a shot at the Premier Title at one of the biggest shows the SMWA has ever held. If you win this match tonight you will go on to face Jack Evans who is the best high-flyer professional wrestling has ever seen. If you win tonight you will face a man who can take a beating and come back like nobody else. However that is a big if because you are getting into the ring with Azrael. Azrael, who came close to being the first ever Premier Championship. Azrael, who has held the SMWA Tag Team Titles in the past. Azrael, who tonight, has your number and is going to make sure that Jack Evans does not have to waste his time taking on a loser like you. Next time he shows up in the SMWA I am going to take him one-on-one and this time I am going to put him out of action with an injury. I was on a roll until I was injured. But, I’m coming back onto the right track. I’ve brought Austin Aries back to the SMWA and together we are going to head to the top of the tag team ranks and we will be the men at the top of the division. I am the master pure wrestling and Austin is the wrestling machine. The two of us are an unstoppable team and tonight we’re going to show that when we put AJ and Jerry down for the count. Jerry Lynn is renowned for his wrestling ability but his time has passed and tonight we are going to show all you fans that. AJ is good but he can’t compare to either Austin or I. Year End Blowout 2 Card

www.smwawrestling.com

December 24, 2008

It’s time for what will be one of our biggest shows to date. Kalamazoo will host the Year End Blowout on December 27.

Jack Evans ©vs. Josh Abercrombie (SMWA Premier Championship)

We start the show off with a title defense. Josh Abercrombie gets a shot at the Premier Championship and he faces the high-flying Jack Evans. This match will be exciting no matter who wins it.

Spanky vs. Nate Mattson

Nate Mattson tries to keep his undefeated streak alive as he takes on Spanky in the second match of the night. Spanky has a reputation worldwide but Mattson won’t let that stand in his way.

Alex Shelley vs. Brandon Thomaselli

Shelley takes on Brandon in his return match and this is a rematch. Shelley took the win the last time these met but now Brandon has the experience of winning the Midwest Invitational Tournament and has been looking good ever since then and the ring rust of Shelley may give the advantage.

Paul London vs. Puma

Two of the best wrestlers face off in this match. London will pit his fast paced, technical style against the hard-hitting striker Puma in this match.

Backseat Boys ©vs. B-Boy & Ricky Reyes (SMWA Tag Team Championship, Street Fight)

There will be some issues settled in this match as these two teams have been having issues with each other including a previous match that was thrown out because the action spilled into the crowd. This time action in the crowd will be legal and all of these men will use whatever means they have to in order to get the win.

AJ Styles vs. Austin Aries

These two face off in what should be an amazing encounter. Both of these men work a similar style and there will be no limits as they face off.

Jerry Lynn vs. CM Punk

Two great technical wrestlers do battle in this match. Lynn brings his experience against CM Punk who can work whatever style his opponent wants to. Both of these men are going to be competing to keep in the upper echelon and stay in the title hunt.

Elix Skipper ©vs. Petey Williams (SMWA Championship, Steel Cage)

These two men look to settle their differences with a steel cage match with the SMWA Championship on the line. Sipper managed to retain the belt against Williams before with the help of Prime Time but the cage takes them out of the equation and makes sure the best man will win. Only one of these men will walk out of the cage with the belt.

Be sure to check out the show in Kalamazoo in just 4 days. Tickets are still available for just $15 or $20 for ringside seats.
