iMPACT! (December 28th, 2006)

Sting’s music hits to open the show, and he makes his way to the ring one last time. The crowd give him a standing ovation as he heads down the aisle, and he takes the time to go all around ringside shaking hands with all the fans, looking very emotional. Eventually he heads into the ring and takes the microphone. “On Sunday, at Turning Point, I accomplished what I set out to do. I defeated Hulk Hogan, right there in the centre of this ring. Now I can honestly say I’ve done everything I wanted to do in this business, and it’s time for the Stinger to hang up his boots one last time.” The crowd starts up a ‘Please don’t go’ chant, but Sting continues undeterred. “I just requested a little time at the start of the show here tonight to thank all of you fans, for giving me these ovations. It was your support that has made this last year worth every second. I also want to thank TNA management, for giving me this opportunity to return to wrestling, and end my career the way I wanted to. There’s one simple fact that I feel I need to state to everyone, particularly a few people up north who don’t seem to have got the message, which is that Total Nonstop Action Wrestling is the greatest form of wrestling – not sports entertainment, wrestling – going today.” Big pop for that, and is that a ‘Fuck WWE’ chant I hear? Well, we’ll dub it out in post-production. “And there’s one guy in particular I’d like to thank, and who I’d like to say a couple of things to before I go, and that’s the Phenomenal AJ Styles. So AJ, if you’d like to come out here.”

AJ’s music hits, and the X Division Champion makes his way to the ring in street clothes looking somewhat confused. “Now AJ,” Sting tells him, “I just want you to know, back when I was breaking into this business, some of the top stars in wrestling at that time like Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat, they took a look at what I did in this ring and they told me ‘Kid, you’re something special. You’re going to be a huge star one day.’ And now I know what they mean, because when I look at you AJ, and I look at the things you can do inside this ring, and the things you represent and stand for outside it… well, I know that you’re going to become one of the top stars in this business real soon. So AJ, I want to wish you good luck, you keep working as hard as I know you do, and I know that you’re going to get that NWA World title around your waist once again, and you’re going to be one of the biggest stars in the world. But now, I’ve taken up too much of your time already. Let’s get back to the best two hours of wrestling action anywhere in the world.” AJ is clearly appreciative of the compliments, and the two men embrace and head to the back together as the crowd applauds them. (Rating: 86%)

Team Canada vs. James Gibson & Jimmy Yang

Fresh off their defeat at the hands of Generation Next at Turning Point, Team Canada make their way to the ring for their contest with another top ROH tag team, James Gibson & Jimmy Yang. Bobby Roode starts against Jimmy Yang, attacking aggressively with hard clothesline and right hands. Roode assaults Yang with hard crossface punches, and Yang fights back with a high spinning heel kick and tags to Gibson. Gibson uses his roughneck style to counter Roode’s power, hitting some hard forearms to the face and follows up with the Roderick Strong fireman’s carry gutbuster (what is that move called?) for a near fall. Bobby hits a neckbreaker out of the corner and tags to Petey Williams, who hits the headscissors Russian legsweep for two. Petey hangs Gibson in the corner and sings O Canada while standing on Gibson’s crotch as Roode distracts the referee, but this allows Yang to run in and break it with a flying kick to the back of Petey’s skull. Yang tags in and almost decapitates Williams with a spinning leg lariat, following up with a moonsault kick in the corner. Yang sets up Petey on the top rope for a frankensteiner, but Petey fought him off and nailed a tornado DDT. Williams dropkicked Gibson off the apron before finishing off Yang with the Canadian Destroyer for the three. As Roode and Williams celebrated, they were jumped from behind by the Second City Saints! CM Punk and Colt Cabana beat the Canadians down before quickly exiting.

Winners: Team Canada (Rating: 72%)

In the back, Shane Douglas is standing by with the Extreme Horsemen. “Guys, you formed a new faction at Turning Point as Simon Diamond defeated Chris Sabin, the Extreme Horsemen. Now the fans have to be wondering exactly why you guys have come to TNA and what your goals are, so if I could get a few words before we see CW Anderson and PJ Polaco in action next against the Naturals.”

“We’re here for just one reason, and that’s to destroy TNA,” Corino explained, taking the microphone. “You see, we’re the guys who have always been overlooked in this business. Look at me, the King of Old School, former NWA World Heavyweight Champion, former ECW World Heavyweight Champion. But for ‘whatever reason’, the big leagues don’t want me. The big companies in this business like TNA don’t want to give me the time of day, and I’ll tell you why. It’s because the people who run this business know how powerful I am. They know that if they give me an opportunity, I can win titles, I can take over companies. Well, fortunately, my good friend Simon Diamond managed to get his foot in the door here in TNA. He didn’t lobby for a spot for me, but I understand that, I respect that. I wouldn’t expect him to put his own spot on the line for me. But now, Simon has brought me in, along with the rest of the stable I founded, the Extreme Horsemen. And if you thought the original Horsemen were a force to be reckoned with, we’ve taken that to the extreme. So we will destroy everyone in our path to take our rightful spots here on the TNA roster. And if you don’t believe in our dominance, you watch next as the Enforcers take out the Naturals.” (Rating: 78%)

The Enforcers vs. The Naturals

Diamond and Corino accompany the Enforcers to ringside. PJ Polaco starts against Andy Douglas, chopping him back into the corner and dropping him with a DDT. An Ace Crusher gets a two count for Polaco, and he tags out to CW Anderson. Anderson hits a big Exploder suplex on Douglas for two. Anderson tags out again, as the Enforcers are proving every bit as dominant as Corino predicted. However, Polaco misses a superkick and gets caught with a leg lariat from Douglas. Douglas tags in Stevens, who takes down Polaco with a clothesline from the top rope and follows up with a quick legdrop for two. Stevens takes down Polaco with a running dropkick and sets up for a Death Valley driver, but Polaco fights out and hits a spinning DDT! Douglas breaks the count, drawing in Anderson, who nails Douglas with a huge spinebuster. Polaco hauls Stevens up and finishes him off with the spinning tombstone piledriver he calls That’s Incredible! The Enforcers win, but it looks like they want to continue the beating after the bell. Chris Sabin runs in and manages to chase them away, as Corino and Diamond don’t feel like fighting today.

Winners: The Enforcers (Rating: 72%)

The new NWA World Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted are hanging out backstage, relaxing with some beers, when Jim Cornette enters with a big smile on his face. “Hey, champs!” he says gleefully, sitting down. “Congratulations on that big victory at Turning Point, it was a hell of a match. And congratulations on making the right decision and coming to side with us at ROH, we came through for you on Sunday and we’ll make sure those belts remain around your waists.”

Harris nods, but James Storm says, “Whoa, hold up. We didn’t switch sides at Turning Point for you, we did it for us. We’ll do what you tell us to, work for you, just as long as you look out for our interests, understand? And what we’re interested in right now is keeping these belts where they belong. You watch out for us, and we’ll watch out for you, that’s the deal. Got it?”

“That’s the deal,” Cornette confirms. “Stick with me, I promise you, and you won’t have to worry about losing those title belts any time soon. Have you heard about Shane Helms and Shannon Moore? You beat them up so bad, the hospital are keeping them in for observation. The Rottweilers did such a number on Moore’s neck with that double stomp Cop Killer that he’s in traction! They won’t be getting their rematch for a while yet.”

“And that’s exactly the way we plan to keep it,” Harris adds, smiling. “If those boys try to come after us again, we’ll send them straight back to the hospital – or worse.” (Rating: 72%)

After the commercial break, Chris Jericho’s music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. The self-proclaimed ‘Living Legend’ is clearly in no mood for games, with an angry look replacing his usual cocky sneer. “Alright, how about you idiots shut up!” he yells, which, of course, only increasing the crowd’s boos. “At Turning Point, I got screwed over yet again! I had that Gauntlet for the Gold in hand, but through absolutely no fault of my own, I was thrown out of the ring. Well I’m sick of it! I’m sick of ROH, I’m sick of TNA, I’m sick of it all! So I’m challenging anyone who’s got the guts to go face to face with the King of the World, whether they’re from TNA or ROH, I don’t even care! I will defeat anyone who comes out here to prove that I am the greatest wrestler alive! Come on, dammit!”

After a short pause, Jeff Jarrett’s music plays! The King of the Mountain makes his way onto the entrance ramp, microphone in hand. “Hey Jericho! I thought you were supposed to be on our side, but you don’t care about anybody but yourself, do you? You threw me out, eliminated me from that match, took away my chance to be NWA Champion again… and as far as I’m concerned, you showed your true colours as well. You see, whether these people like it or not, no one represents TNA like I do.” He actually gets a decent pop for that, and encouraged, he continues. “I’ve been here every show since TNA started, I’ve put my blood, my sweat and my tears into this company, and I will not allow you to just throw that all away! So if it’s a fight you want, then that’s exactly what you got!” Jarrett charges to the ring and swings with his guitar, but Jericho ducks it and spears Jarrett down, raining punches to his face. Jericho goes for the Walls, but Jarrett fights out, and they continue to brawl as security runs down to separate them. They keep fighting through to get their hands on each other, though, and it takes a couple of minutes to escort them to the back. (Rating: 88%)

TNA Hardcore Championship: Monty Brown © vs. Rhino

Rhino comes out to answer the Alpha Male’s challenge with the Hardcore title on the line. Monty goes straight on the offensive, clearly not in a good mood, and delivers two hard chairshots to Rhino’s skull. The Manbeast shakes it off, though, and counters a charge with a boot to the face. Rhino throws Monty out of the ring and delivers a powerslam on the concrete for two. The War Machine goes to the artillery, finding a stop sign under the ring which gets cracked over the Alpha Male’s head. Brown comes back with a T-bone suplex on the entrance ramp and brings out a cookie tray, which of course gets smashed over Rhino’s head. A neckbreaker on the concrete gets two for the champion. Rhino catches Brown with a short arm clothesline, knocking him down long enough for Rhino to bring out a table! He sets it up in a corner of the ring and goes for the Gore, but Monty avoids it, and Rhino smashes himself through the table! Amazingly still on his feet, the War Machine stumbles backwards and eats POOOOOOUNCE~! for the three count. No sooner has the bell rung when Monty grabs the microphone and yells, “Cut my music! Are you not… entertained? What you just saw was the Hardcore champion decimating another opponent! And it’s going to keep happening until I get my title shot, and I get the chance to prove that I’m not a joke! I’m throwing open challenges to anyone who thinks they can survive in the Serengeti, the most hostile environment known to man! And I guarantee that anyone who crosses my path is going to feel… the POOOOOOOOUNCE… period!”

Winner and STILL TNA Hardcore Champion: Monty Brown (Rating: 76%)

‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas is standing by with the NWA World Heavyweight champion, Christian Cage. “Christian, the big title match at Turning Point was mired in controversy due to the interference of both the ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels, and also from the New Church. You successfully retained, but with some perhaps unwanted assistance – how do you feel right now?”

“How do I feel? How the hell do you think I feel, Shane Douglas? I feel cheated out of my victory! You’re damn right it was unwanted interference, right now I feel like I’ve been screwed over just as much as Raven must feel right now. You see, that match for me was just as much of a test as any other match I’ve been in where this belt has been on the line. I’ve never beaten Raven, and he’s a former champion. I wanted to prove that I deserve to wear this belt around my waist, and to represent this company. Now people can say, ‘Maybe he isn’t good enough to be champion, because he couldn’t beat Raven clean’. I won’t allow that. So at Final Resolution, I have to defend against the winner of the Gauntlet for the Gold match. That’s you Daniels. But that wasn’t good enough for me, so I went to Larry Zbyszko, and I begged and pleaded for the match to be changed. And he granted my request. So At Final Resolution, in one of the homes of wrestling Philadelphia, we’re going to have a good old fashioned three-way dance for the NWA World title. Me defending against both Christopher Daniels and Raven! I asked for that because I’m a fighting champion. And I will walk out of that match still the best wrestler in the world, because that’s… how I roll!” (Rating: 86%)

AJ Styles & Ron Killings vs. Bryan Danielson & Christopher Daniels

The ROH World champion does not look like he’s in a good mood as he heads to the ring, having just heard his one on one opportunity for the NWA World title go up in smoke. Danielson starts this match against the X Division champion, and they exchange holds in the early going to the appreciation of the crowd in the Impact Zone. Neither man can gain a clear advantage, so Styles tags out to the Truth, who whips the American Dragon off the ropes, does the splits to avoid a clothesline and then catches Danielson in the face with a calf kick. Danielson counters a hip toss into an arm drag and drives his knee into the shoulder and elbow of the Truth painfully, hyper-extending the joint. Dragon applies an arm wrench and tags out while holding onto it, allowing Daniels to work over the body part himself. An armbreaker puts Killings down, and the Fallen Angel works over the arm with a Kimura lock. Eventually Killings manages to fight back, punching Daniels in the midsection and nailing him with the Truth Conviction, but is unable to make the cover. Tag both sides, and Styles takes down Danielson with a flying forearm. Daniels gets taken out with an enzuigiri, and the Pele kick on Danielson gets a two count. AJ sets up the Styles Clash, but Dragon backdrops out of it and uses the Airplane Spin to disorient the X Division champion. Styles stumbles back to his own corner and Killings tags himself back in, attacking Danielson fiercely. He goes for the Scissors Kick, but Daniels kicks him as he bounces off the ropes, leaving him prey to the Cattle Mutilation. With his arm already hurt, Killings has no choice but to tap out. After the match, Samoa Joe rushes the ring and blasts AJ Styles with a single leg dropkick! Joe pounds Styles with knees to the face and delivers the facewash in the corner before planting him with the Muscle Buster! Daniels, Danielson and Joe leave Styles and Killings laying in the middle of the ring.

Winners: Bryan Danielson & Christopher Daniels (Rating: 81%)

Backstage, Shane Douglas is standing by with Raven. “At Turning Point, Raven, you were screwed out of the NWA World title by the New Church. Tonight, you take on Vampiro to try and get a little retribution, but if I know you Raven, and I do, then this goes deeper than that.”

“Absolutely. I will not rest, I will not sleep, until James Mitchell and his New Church are destroyed. You see, it is my destiny to once again be NWA World champion, and that destiny was stolen from me by the New Church. I thought I took care of those guys years ago, but apparently Mitchell doesn’t want to let it lie. Well, if they wanted the sadistic, destructive Raven who will lay waste to them and leave a bloody trail of carnage in his path, then that’s exactly what they’ve got. At Final Resolution, I get another shot at the NWA World title thanks to Christian Cage. I thank him for that, but I also question his sanity. He was lucky to leave Turning Point with the belt, and I promise that at Final Resolution, my destiny will be fulfilled. I will be the NWA World champion once again… quoth the Raven, nevermore.” (Rating: 97%)

Raven vs. Vampiro

The New Church enter together, with James Mitchell laughing evilly, clearly proud of himself for his handiwork at Turning Point. Raven wastes no time, attacking Vampiro before the bell and stomping him down in the corner, throwing wild rights and lefts and hardly seeming to care if he connects or not. Raven takes Vampiro down with a running knee to the face and follows up with a bulldog for two. Raven hammers away at Vampiro’s face until Mitchell distracts the referee, allowing Abyss to nail Raven with a chairshot from the outside. Vampiro takes control, choking away at Raven with the boot and then stomping him hard. Vampiro slams Raven down and drops the leg for a two count. A hard powerbomb gets another two count. The Living Vampire takes Raven over with a Sambo suplex, but takes too long posing and is surprised when Raven comes out of the corner with a superkick for a near fall! Raven sets up for the Evenflow, but drops Vampiro when Mitchell gets up on the apron. Vampiro tries to attack Raven from behind, but Raven avoids it and Vampiro knocks down Mitchell! Raven hits the Evenflow and gets the three count. Abyss quickly enters the ring and attacks, but Raven meets him with right hands to the face, and the two men brawl as Impact goes off the air…

Winner: Raven (Rating: 79%)

Overall Rating: 80%

iMPACT! (December 28th, 2006)

- AJ being put over by Sting on his way out was a nice route to go, especially with the comparison. Nice way to kick off the show.

- I want to see more disension between Punk and ROH dammit!

- Oh no a the Horsemen are going to destroy TNA from within.

- Good to see Anderson in TNA, I wish they'd give him a shot IRL. Sabin is a moron if he thinks he can handle them himself.

- I think we'll be seeing Moore and Helms alot sooner than later.

- Jericho is that much closer to the dark side and I'm a likin' it.

- Nooo.. Monty FUCKED Rhino up!? Brown has hit his head on the glass cieling so many times he's not worth killing Rhino's credibility, poor Rhino he came out of the G4tG looking like a monster :(

- Ah a three way dance in Good ol' Philly where they became famous, and one of its most famous son's is in the match? Good Main Event combination right there.

- I was wondering what Joe would be doing and it looks like his sights are once again set on the X Title, AJ and Joe has been done lets see if you can keep it interesting.

- Vampiro, simply put is a jobber.

Overall Thoughts: Pretty solid line up once again this week but nothing major really sticks out except for the announcement of the Main Event @ the next PPV. I look forward to seeing how you build for it in the midcard area.

Overall Rating: 75%

- NWA Tennessee is being visited by TNA officials to evaluate talent. Although it is unlikely anyone will be called up for a couple of months as the roster is still in a state of flux due to the new ROH talent, management is high on a few prospects, including Bobby Lashley, Mark Copani, Chad Collyer and Onyx, all of whom would make an immediate impact if and when they’re introduced to the main roster. Officials are also excited about some of the talented tag teams in development, such as the recently signed Backseat Boyz, the Carnage Crew of Loc and Devito, Izzy and Deranged, and the Fast and the Furious (Jerrelle Clark and Jay Fury). If the tag division becomes strong enough, TNA are considering introducing X Division Tag titles.

- The new ‘TNA’s Saviour’ Raven T-shirt is our hottest seller at the merchandise stands right now. Christian Cage, Ron Killings, Chris Jericho, AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels merchandise are all doing well. Also, due to increasing demand, shirts are being considered for the Extreme Horsemen and the Second City Saints.

- The GFN Top 100 Workers List for 2006 has been released. WWE won the award for most wrestlers on it with 33, with TNA close behind at 30. Both companies are said to be eyeing the independent workers and free agents who placed high, who include TAKA Michinoku (15), Brock Lesnar (18), Donovan Morgan (32), Masato Tanaka (35), and Charlie Haas (38). The top ten were as follows:

1. Kurt Angle (WWE)

2. Chris Benoit (WWE)

3. Chris Jericho (TNA)

4. Christopher Daniels (TNA)

5. AJ Styles (TNA)

6. Chavo Guerrero (WWE)

7. Shawn Michaels (WWE)

8. Low-Ki (TNA)

9. Rey Mysterio (WWE)

10. Tajiri (WWE)

- With the recent influx of cash as a result of increased attendance and PPV buys from the different locations, TNA are considering making PPVs even more special by using licensed music on them, particularly for the ROH wrestlers whose themes sound very generic and who have themes associated with them from ROH.

TAG TEAM TURMOIL

Two huge tag team matches have been signed for this week’s action packed episode of TNA Impact! In the main event, the NWA World Champion Christian Cage and the TNA X Division Champion AJ Styles will team up to face the team of the ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels and the former X Division Champion Samoa Joe! The implications of this match with regards to the TNA vs. ROH war are huge, as two of TNA’s very best are taking on two of ROH’s very best. This match could have important ramifications leading into Final Resolution, so whatever you do, don’t miss it.

Also, Raven has challenged the New Church to face him in a match, with TNA management insisting that he have a tag team partner. Raven has selected the ‘War Machine’ Rhino to team with him. This should be a brutal brawl between four tough competitors, and you know Raven still wants revenge on the New Church. It always gets turned up a gear when Raven and James Mitchell’s lackeys collide!

Speaking of tag team action, Larry Zbyszko is said to be outraged by the actions of the reigning NWA Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted, turning their backs on TNA in order to regain those titles at Turning Point as well as injuring Shane Helms and Shannon Moore. The Director of Authority says he will address this issue on Impact, so tune in to see what’s in store for the hated Tag champs!

Last week on Impact, Jeff Jarrett and Chris Jericho got into a confrontation that ended in a brawl that needed referees, officials and road agents to separate them. This week Jarrett takes on ROH’s James Gibson, and Chris Jericho will be in the arena. Will these two rivals encounter one another, and if they do, will things get better – or worse?

Also, Chris Sabin tries to get some revenge on Steve Corino of the Extreme Horsemen, TNA Hardcore Champion ‘Alpha Male’ Monty Brown in action, Ron Killings, the Second City Saints, and more this Thursday on TNA Impact!

Match listing:

Kevin Steen vs. Monty Brown

Chris Sabin vs. Steve Corino

Jeff Jarrett vs. James Gibson

The New Church vs. Raven & Rhino

AJ Styles & Christian Cage vs. Christopher Daniels & Samoa Joe

iMPACT looks like it will be a good show, I can't wait.

I'm really glad that you are having the same kind of fun as I am reading this diary, but all of your posts have been like this. You can't reply to a diary with just what you wrote there, its called postwhoring and is against the rules. In the future just add a little bit, tell us why iMPACT! looks like a good show, let TEOv.1 know what part of the shows you liked and didn't after all thats what feedback is all about.

As for iMPACT this week I'm expecting another job by Vampiro, some more Jarrett/Jericho goodness, and some more development in the Joe v. AJ feud. Looking forward to this week's show.

I'm am a big Sting fan so it was great to see him put over AJ like that. I also am very interested in seeing what you do with Joe/AJ, because it has been done before, like Idolized said.

Nigel McGuinness just looks unstopable in the Pure division, I hope you can find someone worthy to put up a fight against him after he has torn apart everyone else.

And I need to say it....poor Vampiro. He is a great worker and I wish things would turn around for him!!!

(is that any better)?

This diary has become my favourite to read since I've entered the Diary Dome. Great description of matches, everything is well-explained and easy to read.

Happy to see that you've included Kevin Steen in the mix. Although I'm worried to see how he would fit in the whole picture. The obvious choice would be for him to turn against RoH (if you book him on the ROH side that is) and make him join Team Canada. Use Steen in the X-Division and book promos with Scott D'Amore as a manager to help put him over.

I'm also enjoying the Extreme Horsemen. I honestly hope that you book Steve Corino correctly. Knowing his history with the NWA, you have some great possibilities for him if you ever want to give him the NWA Championship. I'd be a sucker for Corino vs Cage, which I REALLY wanna see.

OOC: First off, I'm with Idolized on this one. I'm glad that you all like the diary and want to leave comments, but just a generic 'Great show' doesn't help me at all, and neither does it helps me for a bunch of my readers to get banned for postwhoring. So if you're going to post feedback, post something constructive: what you liked, what you didn't like. Hopefully I can use that to make the diary better. Since those last couple of posts were good, I'll give some response of my own. Idolized, about this week's show, two out of three ain't bad. WCWFAN, I've already decided who will take the Pure title from Nigel, although I'll admit I'm always horribly biased wherever he's concerned, as a fellow Brit. I'll also admit I kind of signed Vampiro without any clear idea of what I was going to do with him, but now he's settled into his niche and hopefully actually win matches and stuff. E-Head, you're clearly way ahead of me regarding Steen - I've got that exact plan for him written in my notepad, and it'll happen within the next couple of months of game time, since I like Steen and I don't like some of Team Canada's current guys (A-1, Johnny Devine). As for Corino, read and find out.

iMPACT! (January 4th, 2007)

Kevin Steen vs. Monty Brown

A quick match to open the show this week, with ROH’s ‘Mr. Wrestling’ taking on the Alpha Male, who has been on fire as of late. Steen jumps Brown at the bell, perhaps realising his chances in this match, beating down the Hardcore champion with forearms. Steen goes straight for the Package Piledriver, but Brown backdrops out and goes for the Pounce, only to meet Steen’s foot from a jumping kick to the face. Steen tried to follow up with a quebrada, but Brown avoided it and this time hit the POOOOOOUNCE for the pinfall.

Winner: Monty Brown (Rating: 69%)

Larry Zbyszko walks down the hallway and into his office, where he finds America’s Most Wanted waiting for him. “Ah, just the people I wanted to see!” Larry says with a smile on his face, but Chris Harris cuts him off.

“Cut the crap. We know that you still have control over these belts, that you can book our title defences. Come on, who is it? Who do you want us to defend against? We’re ready for whatever you throw at us. If you want us to defend here tonight, we don’t care, we’re ready.”

“Well, my hands are a little tied, aren’t they? If it were up to me, I’d book you to defend against the former champions Shane Helms and Shannon Moore right here tonight, but I can’t do that. The doctors won’t clear them to wrestle. And frankly, I can’t quite decide who it is that I want to take those titles from you. But really, I don’t care who it is, I just don’t want you holding those belts any more! So here’s what’s going to happen. Over the next three weeks, I’m making three qualifying matches. The first one will happen tonight between Team 3-D and the Rottweilers. And the winners of those matches will all go on to challenge you in a four way tag match at Final Resolution! So enjoy being champions while you can, because I will do everything in my power to make sure you don’t walk out of Final Resolution with those belts around your waists, no matter what Jim Cornette may have to say about it, and that’s a promise!” AMW look furious as Zbyszko shoos them out of his office. (Rating: 64%)

Chris Sabin vs. Steve Corino

The leader of the Extreme Horsemen looks confident as he makes his way to the ring, as you might expect from a former NWA World Champion flanked by his three henchmen. Sabin shows no fear, heading straight to the ring and taking the fight to the King of Old School with hard kicks. Sabin whips Corino into the corner and charges in with a running forearm. Sabin scoops Corino, but gets countered into a reverse DDT. Corino takes down Sabin with a hip toss and goes to the chinlock, but Sabin fights out with a back suplex. An attempted powerbomb is countered into the Old School Plex by Corino, but that only gets a two count. Corino goes for the Old School Bomb, but Sabin fights out of that and hits an enzuigiri. The back and forth action continues with Sabin going for the Cradle Shock, only for Corino to fight out and set up the Old School Expulsion, but Sabin counters that into a backslide for a close two count! Sabin again goes for the Cradle Shock, and this time he gets it… but Simon Diamond sends the Enforcers in to break the count! The referee calls for the bell as Polaco and Anderson stomp away at Sabin, until Sonjay Dutt runs out and runs them off! Dutt helps Sabin to his feet, and Sabin demands a microphone. “Extreme Horsemen… you wanna play the numbers game with me… well, I’ve got a few friends of my own I think I can count on! I’m challenging you, all four of you, to face me and my team at Final Resolution, and we’ll see if you’ve really as good as you guys say you are!”

Winner (via DQ): Chris Sabin (Rating: 76%)

Backstage, Shane Douglas is with Ron ‘The Truth’ Killings. “Truth, I know you’ve been having some trouble lately recapturing the form that brought you to the NWA World title not so long ago, but if I know you, then I know you’re just as determined as ever to make it there. What’s the next step for the Truth?”

“I’ll tell you what I’ve been thinking about lately,” Killings responds. “Whenever I’ve been fighting with ROH, and you know I’ve been right on the front lines in this war, it’s always the same guy who I’m running up against, a guy called Bryan Danielson. Back at Genesis, in the big elimination tag match, he made me tap out in the middle of the ring. At Turning Point, he threw me over the top rope, eliminated me from the Gauntlet for the Gold. That was my best chance of getting another title shot, and he took it away. And last week, he made me tap out again. I’m not gonna make any excuses, last week, he damn near tore my arm off. Danielson, American Dragon, I don’t know a lot about you, but I know from personal experience that you’re one hell of a wrestler. Three times now I’m tried to hit you with my Scissors Kick, and every single time, you’ve seen me coming, and you’ve made me pay for it. But I’m going to keep coming at you, Danielson. I want a chance to prove myself. That’s why I want you one on one in that ring, Danielson, at Final Resolution. I’m going to show you why I’m going right back to the top where I belong, to reclaim my title… because that’s the Truth, and I’m going to show you that the Truth hurts.” (Rating: 92%)

Team 3-D vs. The Rottweilers

These two teams have been engaged in a battle since ROH first arrived in TNA, and they relish the opportunity to go at it again with a shot at the NWA World Tag titles on the line. Team 3-D clean house early on with punches and elbows for all, and clear the ring for the early pop. Homicide takes over with a thumb to Brother Ray’s eye and a Yakuza kick, tagging in Low-Ki. Ki goes to work with stiff kicks and strikes to BRD, preventing the big man from making the tag. Ki executes a double underhook suplex and rolls into a butterfly lock, broken by Brother Devon with a hard kick to Ki’s spine. Devon tags in and drops Ki with a piledriver for a near fall. Ki whips Devon into a corner and goes for a Tidal Krush, but Devon avoids it and tags in Brother Ray, and they hit Ki with the 3D! Brother Ray stops Homicide from interfering while Devon gets the pinfall. Homicide doesn’t stop attacking Ray at the bell, though, and they battle it out some more. Team 3-D have the advantage until AMW run in, and all six men fight to the back, with Tenay noting that the champions must have been relying on the Rottweilers to win that match.

Winners: Team 3-D (Rating: 81%)

Backstage, a camera follows Colt Cabana as he heads into a dressing room. He runs into his tag partner CM Punk, and they both say “Guess what?” at once. Punk rolls his eyes and says, “You first.”

Cabana shakes his head. “I wouldn’t dream of it, Punker. After you.” Punk opens his mouth, but Colt interrupts saying “It’s no good, I’m too excited! I just went to Jim Cornette and asked to be in this thing for the NWA World Tag titles! We’re gonna be tag champions!”

Punk covers his eyes with his hands in frustration. “You idiot! We’re supposed to be going after Team Canada, remember? We’re booked against them at Final Resolution, so if we’re in the tag title match, we’ll have to wrestle twice!”

“Oh come on, Punker, we can do it! We’ll just take out those Canadians, and then claim the belts as well! What’s wrong with that? Punk? Hey, Punk!” Punk has stopped listening, though.

He says, “You know, if we didn’t have to waste time doing what Jim Cornette told us to do, then everything would be fine. We’re two of the top stars in ROH! Why do we have to waste time fighting a bunch of dumbass Canadians while Christopher Daniels, a guy who I beat and who I put out of ROH, gets to go after the NWA World title?”

“Don’t worry about it, Punk,” Cabana says, trying to calm him down. “Don’t get so worked up. We’re going to beat Team Canada, and we’re going to be tag team champions, and then we’ll go back to Chicago to celebrate with a Diet Coke and a Twizzler. Are you with me?”

Punk just looks at him witheringly before walking off. (Rating: 69%)

James Gibson vs. Jeff Jarrett

Gibson surprises the former NWA World champion with a flurry of offence in the early going, rocking him with hard forearms and driving him into the corner. The crowd rally behind TNA’s self-proclaimed leader, however, and Jarrett fights back with some chops and a dropkick. Jarrett punches away at Gibson, only for Gibson to counter into a hammerlock and take Jarrett down to the mat. Gibson hits Jarrett with hard knee strikes and chops him hard in the corner before snapmaring him down and going for a dragon sleeper, but Jarrett saw it coming and fought out. Gibson quickly regains control with a gutbuster and goes up top, but misses a guillotine legdrop. Jarrett goes for the Stroke, but Gibson counters out into an attempted Tiger Driver. Jarrett backdrops out, though, and nails the Stroke this time for the three count.

Winner: Jeff Jarrett (Rating: 77%)

Gibson is already out of the ring when Chris Jericho comes out of the crowd, grabs a chair, and smashes it into the back of Jarrett’s head! Jarrett goes down hard, and Jericho laughs maniacally before driving the chair into Jarrett’s leg a couple of times. Jarrett writhes in pain as a sick smile crosses Jericho’s face. Y2J wraps the chair around Jarrett’s ankle and climbs up to the second rope. Realising what he plans to do, Larry Zbyszko runs out and tries to talk Jericho out of it, but Jericho ignores him… and then leaps, landing feet first on the chair, shattering Jarrett’s ankle! Jarrett screams in pain as Zbyszko orders security to take Jericho away. The medics arrive with a stretcher for Jarrett, and Jericho is escorted out of the arena, yelling “You call yourself King of the Mountain, well I’m the King of the World! Don’t ever forget that! I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!” (Rating: 94%)

The New Church vs. Raven & Rhino

We return from commercial to see the New Church already in the ring, awaiting their opponents. Rhino waits outside the ring for his partner’s entrance, and they both rush the ring and start brawling with Abyss and Vampiro. Raven and Rhino clear the ring, and the match gets underway properly. Raven insists on starting and he trades punches with Vampiro, getting the best of him and then taking him down with a Russian legsweep. Vampiro catches him with a leg lariat, though, and stomps him down before tagging to the Monster Abyss. Rhino calls for the tag, but Raven ignores him, instead landing a few punches on the big man before getting caught with a huge flapjack and an overhead belly to belly suplex. Abyss chokes Raven down in the corner, then whips him into a corner and squashes him with an avalanche. Abyss goozles him and goes for the chokeslam, but Rhino breaks it up and starts attacking Abyss with forearm shots. Vampiro comes in as well, and they brawl to the outside as the referee tries to separate them. Meanwhile, in the ring, Raven catches Abyss with a low blow and goes for the Evenflow, but James Mitchell cracks him over the head with his cane! One Black Hole Slam later, the New Church pick up the victory.

Winners: The New Church (Rating: 80%)

In the back, Shane Douglas is standing by with Samoa Joe. “Joe, last week you attacked AJ Styles after a big tag match, brutalising him. Tonight you participate in another huge TNA vs. ROH tag match, with AJ involved. We all know what acts of violence you’re capable of, but what do you plan next for AJ Styles?”

“AJ Styles,” Joe repeats. “AJ Styles, the man who ended my record X Division title reign. AJ Styles, the man who ended my undefeated streak at Bound For Glory. The man who eliminated me at Genesis, the man who eliminated me at Turning Point. I’m sick of AJ Styles! You know Franchise, they say that being undefeated can’t last forever. They say that being a champion can’t last forever. And thanks to AJ Styles, I now know that to be true. I have to listen to people talking about me, saying things like “Obviously he can’t hold his own in the big leagues”. Saying I’m losing a step, getting slow, going soft. I am not going to let that happen! AJ Styles, at Final Resolution, I want one last shot at that X Division title that you took from me. And I will show everyone that I am the best in the world. You see, an era of dominance can’t last forever, but an era of viciousness can. So AJ Styles, you may have ended my X Division title reign. Yes, you may have ended my undefeated streak. But AJ, at Final Resolution, I… end… you.” (Rating: 81%)

AJ Styles & Christian Cage vs. Christopher Daniels & Samoa Joe

Joe starts against Christian, and it quickly becomes clear that not even the NWA World champion can sustain a chain of offence against Joe’s assault, as Joe batters him with the Thousand Hand Slap and drops him with an enzuigiri. Cage manages to avoid a Joe charge and dropkick him before dropping him with a DDT. Cage tags Styles, who leaps in with a flying forearm and kicks away at Joe. The mere sight of AJ seems to enrage the Samoan Submission Machine, though, and he drops him with the STJoe. A snap powerslam gets a two count, and Joe immediately converts it to a Joejigatame, forcing AJ to the ropes. A powerbomb gets two, and Joe turns it into the crab and then the STF, eventually forcing Cage to break the hold to save the match for his team. Daniels finally tags himself in, but Joe barely even notices, and AJ only saves himself with the Pele kick. Styles tags Christian, and Cage fights it out with the Fallen Angel, with Daniels getting the advantage with a thumb to the eye. Daniels hits a step up enzuigiri and an STO and goes for the Best Moonsault ever, but Christian avoids it, only for Daniels to land on his feet and nail Cage with the Complete Shot into the Koji Clutch! Meanwhile, Joe is still pummelling Styles on the outside, ramming him into the ring steps and giving him a release German suplex on the concrete! In the ring, Christian makes the ropes. Daniels goes for the Last Rites, but Christian counters into the Unprettier, only for Daniels to turn that into a roll up… holding the tights! The unfair advantage allows Daniels to get the three count. He poses in the ring with both the NWA and ROH World titles and laughs as Impact goes off the air.

Winners: Christopher Daniels & Samoa Joe (Rating: 86%)

iMPACT! (January 4th, 2007)

- Monty sure does look good against the lesser guys.

- Go Team 3-D go, their road to redemption has to culminate in a Tag Title win.

- You know that saying all guts and no brains? Well I think Sabin's picture is next to the definition in Mr. Webster.

- Truth versus Danielson? Good bout that will rise one of their stocks either way.

- :) everyone get prepared for the resurrection of the most dominant Tag Team in Wrestling History.

- A Diet Coke and a Twizzler, those part boys... Punk is becomming disgruntled with his position in ROH some more and that = goodness.

- I'm liking Triple J as a face for some reason.

- Holly fuck I didn't see that coming at all! Jericho just Pilmanized Jarrett!!?? That viscous son of a bitch.

- I think I see where you're going with the Raven angle and if you're thinking what I am, then its a good idea.

- Early prediction, Joe's gonna kill AJ :(

- Daniels got what he wanted, and now holds a victory over the NWA Champ.

Overall thoughts: Another splendid edition of iMPACT!, the Jericho attack was brutally unpredictable, Punk's "sick of it all" attitude, and Team 3-D's win all get you two big thumbs up.

  • 2 weeks later...

(OOC: Yeah, I kinda went on a bit of a hiatus, but hey, if awesome diaries like LAW or OAW do it, you're going to have to occasionally put up with it here, the diary equivalent of your local indy. It was due to a combination of lack of inspiration (which watching Lockdown solved), my participation in Battle Royale over at the Cube (a samurai sword put paid to that one), and most recently, the wheels falling off my desk and almost sending my entire PC crashing to the ground. But fear not, I foresee clear sailing at least until the next PPV. Impact should go up tomorrow.)

Xplosion results (for January 6th, 2007)

- The Briscoe Brothers defeated Generation Next (Jack Evans & Matt Sydal) to retain the ROH Tag Team titles with the Doomsday Device. (Rating: 73%)

- Prince Nana cut a promo with Alex Shelley and Jimmy Rave, putting them over as the greatest wrestlers in either company, etc. (Rating: 59%)

- Jimmy Rave defeated Shark Boy with the Greetings From Ghana. Rave and Shelley did a beatdown afterwards to show how evil they are. (Rating: 72%)

- Chris Sabin & Sonjay Dutt defeated The Enforcers when Dutt hit the Hindu Press on Polaco. Steve Corino and Simon Diamond tried to interefere, but were attacked by the Naturals. (Rating: 73%)

- Bryan Danielson did an interview accepting the challenge of Ron Killings from Impact. (Rating: 63%)

- Nigel McGuinness defeated Roderick Strong to retain the ROH Pure Wrestling title with the Tower of London and a pin with the feet on the ropes. (Rating: 70%)

Overall Rating: 68%

- Chris Hero was signed to a developmental contract by TNA, debuting at an NWA Tennessee show last night and reforming his team with fellow prospect Claudio Castagnoli in an unsuccessful attempt to dethrone NWA Tennessee Tag Team champions, the Carnage Crew. Hero is best known for his work in CZW, IWA-MS and ROH, where (ironically) he led another invasion angle.

- With the wrestling industry currently on the upswing, TNA are throwing everything they have into trying to compete with the WWE. The results of the last couple of months’ work are showing, as Impact ratings are finally rising to the point of challenging WWE’s stranglehold. TNA officials are said to be excited about the possibilities for the future. Not having to go directly against WWE shows appear to be helping Impact develop its own audience.

TNA iMPACT! Preview for January 11th, 2007

from www.tnawrestling.com

EXTREME WARFARE

Expect some extreme hardcore action this week on Impact, this Thursday on SpikeTV! The main event in Universal Studios this week has been announced by Director of Authority Larry Zbyszko, pitting Rhino against Sabu in a Hardcore Rules match! Zbyszko has made this decision based on the actions of reigning TNA Hardcore champion Monty Brown in recent weeks, interfering in matches and challenging wrestlers. The winner of this match will face Brown for the title at Final Resolution! Be sure to catch the action.

Last week, we saw a shocking incident on Impact as ‘King of the World’ Chris Jericho destroyed the ankle of Jeff Jarrett with a steel chair using the move popularly known in wrestling as the Pillmanizer. Jarrett was rushed to a local medical facility immediately after the attack, where his condition was evaluated by doctors. We will try to update you as to his condition on Impact, as well as giving Jericho the chance to explain himself.

Two teams have yet to be named for the NWA World Tag Team title match at Final Resolution. We will find out one more of those teams this week as Team Canada of Bobby Roode and Petey Williams take on James Mitchell’s New Church! The Canadians have been having issues with the Second City Saints lately, but may be let off tonight as Colt Cabana has a shot at the ROH Pure title. The New Church, on the other hand, always have to keep an eye open for Raven, who has vowed to take them out.

Recently, Ron ‘The Truth’ Killings has commented that he feels he could be doing more to help TNA in the war with ROH. He has requested and received a match with ‘American Dragon’ Bryan Danielson at Final Resolution, but leading into that match, he has also requested an NWA World Television title shot, one that TNA officials were only too happy to grant him. The incumbent champion, Alex Shelley, has been making few friends since winning the belt, and TNA management is desperate to get the title out of ROH hands. Should Killings win, the title would be on the line at Final Resolution, so how will Danielson see this match?

All this, plus Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles and Team 3-D! Also, the ‘Samoan Submission Machine’ Samoa Joe will be in action! A preview of Final Resolution will come when Sonjay Dutt takes on Simon Diamond of the Extreme Horsemen! More matches will be announced for the pay-per-view and more, so be sure to tune in to SpikeTV and catch Impact this Thursday night!

Match listing:

Cassidy Riley vs. Samoa Joe

ROH Pure Title: Nigel McGuinness © vs. Colt Cabana

Simon Diamond vs. Sonjay Dutt

NWA World TV Title: Alex Shelley © vs. Ron Killings

Team Canada vs. The New Church

Hardcore Rules: Rhino vs. Sabu

glad to see this return. I checked almost everyday to see if there was an update. Again, glad to see you back.

Xplosion was pretty good. The Briscoes are solid workers. I hope to see more and more of them on other shows. I'm also glad to see Danielson accepting the Truth's challenge. That match could be a sleeper for a 4 or 5 star rating.

I'm also glad to see you signed Chris Hero. After some time in NWA: Tennessee, he could make a big iMPACT(pun intended) on the main roster.

As for the upcoming iMPACT I think Samoa Joe is going to destory Cassidy Reilly. I also think Colt Cabana could pull off a win against Nigel McGuinness and hopefully start a feud for that Pure Title.

I also am looking forward to Rhino and Sabu. I hope Sabu wins.

I can't wait to see the next show...keep them coming!

iMPACT! (January 11th, 2007)

Cassidy Riley vs. Samoa Joe

I don’t think anyone really gave poor Cassidy a chance here. And, in all fairness, they were right, as Joe mauls his opponent from the opening bell. Joe beats Cassidy down in the corner with painful strikes, charges in with a knee strike to the face, and then throws in a Facewash for no extra charge. He looks to finish early with the Muscle Buster, but Riley actually fights Joe off and staggers the big man with a missile dropkick. Riley tries to follow up with a quebrada, but Joe avoids it and locks in the Kokina Clutch! Cassidy quickly taps out.

Winner: Samoa Joe (Rating: 71%)

As Joe celebrates in the ring, AJ Styles appears on the entrance ramp! Seeing this, Joe points threateningly to the belt slung over the X Division champion’s shoulder, but AJ remains unfazed. “I guess you’re trying to send me a message, huh Joe?” he says. “But it doesn’t matter to me. See Joe, no matter how many guys you beat up in that ring, nothing changes the fact that I’ve done something no one else has done in TNA, and that’s pinning your shoulders to the mat. Twice. And I’m going to do it a third time at Final Resolution. I know you want me to be scared of you, Joe, but I’m not. You may have everyone else running scared, but not me. Because while you don’t have anything to prove your skill in that ring, I have this.” He indicates the X Division title with his hand, and Joe is getting noticeably angry in the ring. “I beat you to earn this belt, Joe. And I will put it on the line anytime, anyplace, against anyone, to prove that I am the best. But Joe, I know you don’t believe me when I say I’m going to beat you again at Final Resolution. So why don’t I give you a preview… right now!”

AJ rushes the ring and starts trading strikes with Joe, who fights back viciously. Styles rolls under an attempted clothesline, though, and answers with an enzuigiri to Joe’s skull! They continue to brawl as security arrives to break them up. (Rating: 84%)

ROH Pure Wrestling Championship: Nigel McGuinness © vs. Colt Cabana

The crowd seem a little uncertain about this match, as the pro-TNA fans aren’t sure what to make of an ROH vs. ROH match on Impact. The workers do a good job getting the crowd into it, though, with McGuinness showing off his technical skills and Cabana getting the crowd behind him with his antics. I had hoped Cabana’s silliness would come off as annoying more than anything, but the crowd have been responding well to him whenever he’s appeared in the last few weeks. Cabana gets the crowd behind him by offering a handshake and then turning it into a wristlock and running out of the ring, costing Nigel his first rope break. Nigel throws a couple of closed fists behind the referee’s back to establish himself as the de facto heel, and then starts to work away at Cabana’s arm in his trademark fashion. An impressive armbar takeover sees the champion hurl the 240+lb Cabana halfway across the ring by his arm alone, giving Nigel the chance to taunt his long-time foe. Tenay and West hype Cabana and McGuinness’ long standing rivalry for fans unfamiliar with ROH as best as they can, God bless them. Cabana loses his first two rope breaks to a Kimura lock and a fujiwara armbar respectively, but as Nigel attempts a Jujigatame, Cabana starts to fight back. A Northern Lights suplex gets a close two count, and Nigel is forced to use his second rope break when Cabana converts it into a Jujigatame of his own. Nigel throws a closed fist in full view of the ref, knocking Cabana down. He clearly knew what he was doing, though, as while the referee is busy telling the announcer that he’s issuing the closed fist warning, Nigel goes to get his iron… only to meet a chairshot from CM Punk, who had come out of the crowd! Cabana uses a victory roll on Nigel and gets the three count to win the title! Punk comes in the ring to congratulate him, and it’s clear that Cabana didn’t see the interference. He seems confused as to why Punk’s there, but Punk shrugs it off and heads backstage with Colt as Nigel is left seething in the ring.

Winner and NEW ROH Pure Wrestling Champion: Colt Cabana (Rating: 64%)

Backstage, Shane Douglas is standing by with Team 3-D. “Brother Ray, Brother Devon, you earned the right to be one of three teams who will challenge for AMW’s NWA World Tag titles at Final Resolution last week by beating the Rottweilers. We’ll find out the second of those teams later tonight when Team Canada faces the New Church, but what I want to know is what does this match mean to you guys?”

“It means a chance to get back to the top of the tag team mountain,” Brother Ray answers, taking the microphone. “It means getting those NWA Tag titles back around our waists where they belong, proving once again that we are the most dominant tag team in the history of professional wrestling. But this time, it’s about more than that. We want to teach those punks Chris Harris and James Storm that you don’t turn your backs on the company that made you who you are today. You don’t turn your backs on the rest of this promotion that we’re all helping to build. And you definitely don’t go out of your way to injure your opponents just because they beat you. I’ll admit that I don’t much care for Shannon Moore and Shane Helms, but I hope they return to TNA soon, so that they can teach you jackasses what company loyalty means. But until then, we’ll be more than happy to give you what you deserve, by taking back what’s ours.”

“Oh my brother, TESTIFY!” Devon adds, doing his best to earn his pay check. (Rating: 74%)

Simon Diamond vs. Sonjay Dutt

Simon is backed by the rest of the Horsemen, so Sonjay sensibly brings the rest of Team Sabin to the ring with him. Dutt quickens the pace to try to stay a step ahead of Diamond, taking down the Extreme Horseman with a headscissors takedown and a dropkick. A hurracanrana takes Simon down, and Sonjay follows up with a quebrada for two. Steve Corino trips Dutt from the outside, though, giving the advantage to Simon and almost prompting a fight to break out at ringside. Simon takes full control, wearing down the Original Playa from the Himalaya with a side headlock, wrenching on it to apply pressure. Dutt fights out, but Simon uses a thumb to the eye and regains control. Simon suplexes Sonjay down for a two count and goes back to the headlock. Again Sonjay fights up and this time mounts a comeback, hitting a spinning heel kick and the Sonjay Star Press for a two count. Sonjay signals for the Hindu Press, but as Corino distracts the referee, the Enforcers each grab one of Dutt’s legs and ram him groin-first into the ringpost! Sabin attacks Corino, but the damage is already done. One Simonizer later, it’s over.

Winner: Simon Diamond (Rating: 75%)

‘The Franchise’ Shane Douglas is backstage with the ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels. “Daniels, last week you pinned the NWA World champion Christian Cage in the centre of the ring in a tag match and posed with both World title belts. At Final Resolution, you face both Cage and Raven in a three way dance for that belt. My question is, do you plan on cheating to win the title the same way you cheated to beat Christian last week?”

Daniels looks understandably affronted. “Cheated? I did no such thing. You know, Franchise, I’m sick of having to put up with your biased interview techniques. Go on, get out of here.” Daniels snatches the microphone away from Douglas and makes ‘go away’ motions with his hands, which the Franchise eventually does. “If TNA can’t keep their unfair prejudice out of our interviews, then we’ll do without them. See, TNA wants to hold us down more than ever now, because they know their days are numbered. They know that in just a couple of weeks, in ROH’s old home of Philadelphia, TNA will succumb to Ring of Honor when I win the NWA World title. A few months ago, I sacrificed Christopher Daniels for the good of the company that I love. I went down in flames so that ROH could triumph. At Final Resolution, you people will bear witness as I come full circle. You will witness the second coming of the Fallen Angel. You will witness the rebirth of ROH, when the ROH World title and the NWA World title are held by the same man. One man, but with a greater purpose, a greater force than any who came before him. You will accept me once and for all as the greatest wrestler in the world today. Such is the prophecy according to the Fallen Angel.” (Rating: 86%)

NWA World Television Title: Alex Shelley © vs. Ron Killings

The announcers comment on how Killings seems to be carrying himself with renewed purpose heading into his encounter with Bryan Danielson at Final Resolution. Killings quickly gains the advantage on the Television champion, attacking with forearms and whipping Shelley into a high calf kick. Jimmy Rave and Prince Nana look on at ringside, encouraging Shelley to fight back, which he does with an eye poke and the Golden Gate Swing. Shelley tries a couple of rollups and cradles to keep Killings down, but the Truth kicks out. The champion locks in a complex modified octopus stretch, grabbing Rave’s hand to apply extra pressure, but Killings refuses to tap out. Bryan Danielson makes his way to ringside as Killings fights out of the hold, providing an unintended distraction that allows Shelley to regain the upper hand. The Truth wastes no time fighting out again, though, and he drops Shelley with a suplex into a stunner that would have gotten three had Prince Nana not put Shelley’s foot on the rope. Rave grabs a chair and looks to enter the ring to draw the DQ, but Danielson stops him and they argue. Deciding to take no chances, Killings planchas out onto them both, but gets caught with a low blow from Shelley. The Shellshock finishes moments later. An angry American Dragon rolls into the ring and lays out both Shelley and Killings with chairshots before locking the Cattle Mutilation on the Truth! The referee convinces him to break the hold, but damage has undoubtedly been done to Killings.

Winner and STILL NWA World Television Champion: Alex Shelley (Rating: 81%)

The New Church’s music hits next, and they make their way to the ring for their match, only for Raven to jump them from behind! Raven takes out Vampiro with a chairshot as James Mitchell hides behind Abyss, but Raven wastes no time going after the Monster. They trade blows with Raven getting the advantage by ramming Abyss’ head into the guard rail, and they fight out into the crowd. Mitchell helps Vampiro into the ring and they wait for Abyss to return, but instead O Canada plays over the speakers as the match starts. (Rating: 80%)

Team Canada vs. The New Church

Bobby Roode and Petey Williams make the most of their two-on-one advantage, doubleteaming Vampiro as much as they can before the referee forces Williams back to the apron. The Canadian Enforcer makes the most of his strength, pounding away at Vampiro with hard forearms to the back as Mitchell tries to rally his man. Vampiro manages to fight back with a leg lariat and goes to tag, only to discover that Abyss still hasn’t returned. The cameras try to find Raven and Abyss in the crowd, and we catch a brief shot of Raven pummelling the Monster with his own chain before the view is obscured and we cut back to the ring. Roode tags in Petey Williams who stomps away at Vampiro as Mitchell leads security to where Raven and Abyss continue to brawl. Petey gains control with the O Canada nut stomp with Vampiro stuck in the corner and then takes him down with a German suplex for two. Security takes Raven out of the building and Mitchell sends Abyss back to the ring as Petey throws Vampiro through the ropes and then takes him down with a slingshot rana. Abyss grabs Petey and throws him back into the ring, dropping him with the Shock Treatment! As the referee tries to get Abyss out of the ring, the Second City Saints run out and pull Bobby Roode off the apron, ramming him into the ring post! Vampiro crawls back into the ring and Petey tries to hit the Canadian Destroyer on him, but Abyss flattens him with a boot. The Nail in the Coffin finishes moments later.

Winners: The New Church (Rating: 75%)

Apparently having found another microphone, Shane Douglas is in another part of the building with Chris Jericho. “Jericho, last week we saw you heinously assault Jeff Jarrett with a steel chair, leaving him in hospital with a shattered ankle. How can you excuse your actions when you put one of TNA’s top stars out of action?”

“Oh come on, Shane Douglas, who the hell cares about Jeff Jarrett?” Jericho tells him, an arrogant smirk on his face. “No one wants to see him anymore. He’s yesterday’s news. Chris Jericho, the living legend, is the greatest superstar in the history of this sport. With me in TNA, who the hell wants to see J-E-double-jackass? No one. You see, for months that assclown has been going around calling himself the King of the Mountain, like that means anything. Everyone knows the only King around here is the King of the World, and that’s Chris Jericho. Jarrett’s been hogging the spotlight for as long as anyone can remember. It’s my turn to shine now.”

“I’m sorry, Jericho, but you can’t justify such a vicious attack with a petty excuse like that,” Douglas argues. “Especially at a time like this, taking out one of our leaders when we’re having to deal with the ROH invasion -”

“WHO CARES ABOUT ROH?!” Jericho explodes angrily. “A bunch of wannabe punks come into this company and want to make a name for themselves, and I’m supposed to care either way? Well I don’t. TNA or ROH, it doesn’t matter to me. The only one who matters is Chris Jericho! ROH invade, and suddenly Jericho isn’t the most important guy in the promotion. No, now it’s Christian Cage, it’s AJ Styles, it’s Raven, and yeah, it’s Jeff Jarrett. There isn’t room for anyone else in the spotlight, junior, so I had to put Jarrett out of it. If that isn’t a good enough reason for you, I don’t care. I don’t have to explain myself to you. I’ll do whatever the hell I like, because I’m the King of the World! But I’ll tell you what. I’ll be at Final Resolution. If Jeff Jarrett wants to hobble over to Philadelphia, I’ll be happy to show him exactly what I’m talking about. Of course, he’ll probably just chicken out. But Jarrett, when you’re trying to decide whether or not you have any guts in your body, just remember; I’ll be waiting.” Jericho laughs in Douglas’ face before storming off. It hasn’t been a good night for the Franchise. (Rating: 99%)

Hardcore Rules Match: Rhino vs. Sabu

Sabu comes to the ring with chair in hand and wastes no time blasting Rhino with it to start this match. Sabu beat down Rhino in the corner, but charged straight into Rhino’s open arms, and he slammed him down with a side belly to belly. Rhino went out to get a chair, but Sabu met him with a chair of his own, and they fought over them for a bit until Sabu sent Rhino out of the ring with a shot to the head and followed up with Air Sabu. A trashcan keeps the War Machine down momentarily, but Rhino hits a spinebuster on the entrance ramp for a two count. They brawl in the crowd for a bit, with Rhino looking to Gore Sabu into the guard rail only to crash into it headfirst. Sabu goes to find another weapon only for the Hardcore champion Monty Brown to lay him out with a chair shot! Brown beats Rhino down as the ref tries to stop him, so Monty starts beating up the ref as well. The Alpha Male drags Sabu back to the ring, sets up a table, and delivers the Alpha Bomb to Sabu straight through it, the same move that won him the title in the first place! Monty counts his own pin on Sabu and poses to boos that turn to cheers when Rhino rolls into the ring behind the champion and Gores him! Sabu eats a Rhino Driver, but there’s no referee. Larry Zbyszko then appears on the entrance ramp with a microphone. “You know what, I’m just going to end this match right now,” he declares, which doesn’t go over well with the crowd. “Because this match was originally booked to determine a number one contender to that Hardcore title, now that it’s so plainly obvious that the champion doesn’t want to face either of those men, I say he has to face them both! So at Final Resolution, it’s going to be Monty Brown vs. Rhino vs. Sabu vs. whoever else I can think of! You’ll regret screwing around with the shows, Monty. I’m laying down the law. Good luck getting out of that with your title!”

(OOC: I'm not running a prediction contest for Final Resolution, for reasons I can't tell you without giving away the results of at least one match. Predictions will still be welcome, though. Plus, since I like pretty graphics, whoever designs me a poster for Final Resolution (preferably based around the main event) will receive a prize of equal or greater value. Haven't decided exactly what yet, something between 'bringing up a developmental guy' through 'booking an Impact main event' to 'naming the next NWA World champion'. It may depend on how much I like the poster.)

- Backstage talk at the moment is suggesting that TNA is planning to bring back the Super X Cup after Final Resolution. Current plans are for qualifying matches to take place on Impact with the final taking place at Against All Odds, and the winner getting an X Division title shot at Destination X. There are also plans to bring in a special opponent for the X Division title match at Against All Odds, though no word on who it could be as yet.

- Talks continue between TNA and the NWA. TNA is even offering to personally fly the NWA World, Tag and TV champions out for tours of Japan, Mexico, Canada, Australia and the UK to bring international prestige back to the titles, in order to build a closer affiliation. Nothing has been confirmed yet.

TNA iMPACT! Preview for January 18th, 2007

from www.tnawrestling.com

HEADING FOR FINAL RESOLUTION

The last episode of Impact before the next TNA pay-per-view is this Thursday night live on SpikeTV! For this potentially crucial show, a huge main event has been signed, pitting the NWA World champion Christian Cage, one of his Final Resolution challengers Raven, and the TNA X Division champion AJ Styles against the team of the ROH World champion Christopher Daniels, AJ Styles’ Final Resolution challenger Samoa Joe and ‘King of the World’ Chris Jericho! Whether or not Jericho gets along with his tag partners is to be seen, as he has made it clear that he cares for neither side in the TNA vs. ROH war.

Also, the final team for the NWA World Tag title match will be determined, as Generation Next of Austin Aries and Roderick Strong face the Second City Saints of CM Punk and Colt Cabana! Word from the ROH camp is that they feel that Gen Next have ‘deserted’ them and wouldn’t argue with the Saints taking them out. Punk & Cabana will have to watch their backs, though, as they have antagonised Team Canada in recent weeks.

Monty Brown’s challengers for the Hardcore title at Final Resolution, Rhino and Sabu, have received a challenge of their own from ROH’s Rottweilers to face them in a tag match on Impact this week. Can these two work together one week after they brutalised one another in a vicious Hardcore Rules match, and mere days before they are scheduled to do so again with the Hardcore title on the line?

All this, plus the NWA World Television title will be on the line as Alex Shelley defends against Sonjay Dutt; two high-flying ROH competitors face each other in one-on-one action with Jay Lethal taking on Jimmy Yang; NWA World Tag Team champions America’s Most Wanted, the New Church, Ron Killings, Bryan Danielson, the Extreme Horsemen, ROH Tag champions the Briscoe Brothers and more!

Match listing:

Jay Lethal vs. Jimmy Yang

NWA World TV Title: Alex Shelley © vs. Sonjay Dutt

The Rottweilers vs. Rhino & Sabu

Generation Next vs. Second City Saints

AJ Styles, Christian Cage & Raven vs. Christopher Daniels, Chris Jericho & Samoa Joe

Well I guess I'll be catching up now that I'm not feeling so lazy...

Not much happening on Xplosion! or in the news I've only heard of Hero and haven't seen his work so its nothing that excites me an awful lot...

iMPACT! (January 11th, 2007)

-Cassidy gets crushed as we all knew he would.

- Nice little segment with Joe and AJ, I'm loving how you're staying true to the booking style of TNA yet you've made so many changes... er if that makes any sense. I'm a bit tired :/

- I had a nasty feeling you were putting the title on Colt :/ I hate him

- Very believable Duds promo nice job!

- You're steadily building Simon up, there's no telling how far he's going to rise, that's a good thing

- I just realized that Deaniels would unify the titles.. duh

- Nice to see Vamp pick up a victory

- Nice promo by Jericho, I'm eagerly awaiting a Jarrett match, oh my!

- Although I'm not a big fan of the Hardcore title you are making the most of it and I respect that.

Overall: Very solid Impact!, great way to return. There wasn't a weak point on the show bar no Truth or Danielson, but I won't complain.

News and Shit

- I'm guessing Sandman is making his return?

Final Resolution Predictions:

*Daniels over Cageand Raven

*Joe over AJ

*AMW to retain

*Brown to retain

*Horsemen over Team Sabin

*Danielson over Killings

SCS over Team Canada

You're right this one isn't so easy to predict =/

Just finished reading your whole dairy and it is great. Really liking the Fallen Angels push. But I do have a few questions.

1) I must have missed this but where did Elix Skipper and David Young go?

2) What happened between Sting and Hogan nine years ago at their Starrcade Match?

3) What sim are you using EWR or TEW?

4) Could you post up TNAs stat along with WWEs stats just so that we know how well you are doing. By stats I mean money, popularity, and ratings(WWEs ratings).

Only complaint I have (well not a complaint just it seems weird) is that Y2J is on TNA which I dont fell would ever be likely. Then again this is fantasy so whatever.

Other than that great no fantastic job. Keep up the good work.
