Garth Marenghi's Darkplace to get it's DVD release

Recommended Posts

From wikipedia:

Darkplace originally aired in 2004 and viewing figures were fairly poor, which is possibly why a second series has not been commissioned by Channel 4. However, the channel's cinema division Film Four have asked Holness and Ayoade to write a script for a movie version of their programme, and it has gained quite a significant cult following. Also to come is a long-awaited DVD of the first series; the production of which has been spurred on by the emergence of bootleg 'Darkplace' DVDs on internet auction sites. The following special features have been promised for the DVD to be released on July 3, 2006:

Commentaries to all episodes

Deleted scenes

Test footage

Original ‘One Track Lover’ Single (Extended Version)

Over an hour of extra talking heads

Photo galleries

Original radio ads

Original storyboards and storyboard to scene comparisons

Get in there!

A hugely underrated comedy and it gets its DVD release 2 years too late!

Also excited about a possible movie version of the series.

In related news, I got this in my inbox last week:

TV Recordings are pleased to announce that tickets are now available for Man to Man with Dean Learner the brand new Channel 4 series from the creators of 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace'.

Nightclub owner, restauranter, publisher, international playboy - Dean Learner is a one-man brand. After his co-funded Channel 4 television hit 'Garth Marenghi's Darkplace', he now invites you into his luxury penthouse

flat for an all-new, entertaining and immensely stylish TV talk show.

Man to Man with Dean Learner will feature all Dean's remaining celebrity friends, as well as plenty of live music and fine fish-dish cuisine in a show that reeks of class but not "fish!" - Dean.
