Fantasy Novels

Basically I'm a big fan of Fantasy novel. Stuff like Tolkien, Robert Jordan and Terry Goodkind. I've just started George R.R. Martin's series 'A Song of Fire and Ice' and it's really good so far. Just looking to get other people's opinions

As far as fantasy novels go, I read Terry Brooks. I read all his books at least once a year.

I second Salvatore and Brooks.

Another series you might like is Stephen King's 'Dark Tower' series. I've absolutely loved reading through it.

I must admit, I have been looking for some more authors that pique my interest, but as far as fantasy goes, I haven't found anyone that gets me going as much as Brooks does.

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is definately worth a look.

And anything Dan Abnett may have written that's not sci-fi (Hammers of Ulric, Gilead's Blood, Fel Cargo, Riders of the Dead, etc).

Malazan Book of the Fallen series, it's very similar to Martin's ASoIaF. I say stay away some Salvatore personally, his writing just doesn't strike me quite the right way.

Pratchett and Gaiman are the best in the field of fantasy, in my opinion. Pratchett for creating an original world, but not getting lost in all the pretentions that go with it, and using it to mirror our own world, which is what fantasy should be about, and Neil Gaiman for writing the best urban fantasy novels since Narnia.
