Reaper Season 1 *SPOILERS*

I kept hearing about this at work and after coming home early, I decided to check it out. I really thought the lead actor wasn't that good off the get go but he started coming around at the second half. It played pretty good to the first viewing but I heard Kevin Smith wrote this pilot episode only so next week will be pretty interesting.

Kevin Smith actually only directed the episode. It was written by the show's creators, Tara Butters and Michele Fazekas. They also wrote the second episode, so I'd hope there isn't any significant drop off in the second episode. Plus most critics screen the first few episodes in advance of the series premiere, so I'd say that the strong critical buzz indicates the show doesn't completely fall off after the pilot.

One thing I will say is I rather hope that Rick Gonzalez' character isn't going to get hurt in every episode. It's already starting to feel like "we need to get this villain of the week over as dangerous. Hey, let's injure the Latino guy!"

That being said, good second episode this week. Actually, it might have been funnier than last week's. Also, the fact that it's set in Seattle wins so much (... and adds another connection between it and Dead Like Me, too. Huh.).

Another solid episode from this funny series. Ray Wise continues to be awesome in his role and I liked the end where he just pushes the cart into the car to be an ass. And yeah if they continue to hurt Ben each week, that would get boring real quick.

This show does remind me of Dead Like Me (an awesome show that never got the props it deserved) but I think I enjoy it more. Maybe the male lead and all that jazz. An enjoyable episode. Ray Wise is the bomb.
