This got a topic at D-Lyrium...but it deserves one here too.

"Somewhere In The Between" by Streetlight Manifesto = album of the year.

I've never been blown away by something, seriously, on the first listen I knew it was something special.

Best album of the year. Well....well....yeah. Fucking insane from top to bottom. Some of the riffs are downright insane, so jazzy and groovy ("Forty Days"...oh my god...that riff is pornographic). I love it. Great solo's and some fucking swank high note trumpet playing.

Even if you hate them...you have to check out this video, possibly the coolest video I've seen in fuck knows how long. It makes the album even better.

TOO FUCKING GOOD!!!

I think the run of last songs ("Forty Days, "Blonde Lead The Blind", "The Receiving End Of It All" and "What A Wicked Gang Are We") is one of the best closing's I've heard in a long time, easily blows Strung Out's ("Downtown", "The King Has Left The Building", "Mission Statement" and "Diver") and The Weakerthans' ("Sun In An Empty Room", "Night Windows", "Bigfoot", "Reunion Tour" and "Utilities") CD closers out of the water, and they both have fucking amazing endings.

Such a good fucking CD, very possibly my favourite Streetlight release.

It's actually pretty good. I'm not usually a fan of that style but I liked that song.

Also, if I had £1 for everytime you've claimed something to be album of the year I'd have...ooh...at least a tenner.

Amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing CD, Tomas Kalnoky can do no wrong. I've heard "Would You Be Impressed?" three times before, at live shows.

I nearly shit myself on saturday when I found out it leaked and got it a second later...I already pre-ordered it from interpunk, so what the hell. I can't stop listening to it...as stated before, it's just so amazing.

Go see them on tour...few live shows can compete. There's no flashy lights or anything, but watching Streetlight Manifesto perform is mindbending. As far as I know, on the US dates they're touring with Suburban Legends (AMAZING live band) and The Stitch Up (Dan Potthast of Mu330's new band).

Mass confusion...the academy website has a different date........but I've also discovered Jimmy Eat World are there in February as well. I'll probably go up town tomorrow, get myself a couple of tickets for both, and flog on for each on.

They're playing in Boston on 11/13, which is actually going to be the record release show, and I have school that night, so it's doubtful I can go I saw them with RBF and Less Than Jake this summer, but this will be better because they're headlining so obviously they'd be playing a longer set.

As for the CD though, it is amazing. I don't quite know if it's as good as Everything Goes Numb or Keasbey, but it's definitely album of the year.

I like the CD better than Keasbey Nights, but Everything Goes Numb is going to probably win that battle.

As for "Album of the year"? I need to listen to it more, but I can totally see it winning that honor from me as well...it's only compitition is "Year Zero" by Nine Inch Nails, and it'll be tough to beat that.

Maroon 5 can suck my dick. THey have like 4 good songs.

As for Roger. It was a few year ago. There were a signing before the gig and shit, so we skipped school (year 11 I think), drank all morning and went up for the signing/band meet & greet, whatever in the afternoon. Anhyways, got talking to them, got talking to Roger and he were liek "Whre be mcdonalds" or whatever. We took him. Got mcdonalds, him and a couple of crew guys. He fucked off, and was liek "anything you want us to play?" and my mate asks for "Johnny Quest..." which they did.

There first album wasn't that great, but that last album was complete awesomeness.

I've heard a few songs from the album, good god it's awesome. Everything Went Numb was a pretty amazing album, but this to me is a better record, which says a lot, because their first release was fuckin' insane.
