The BBC have renewed kids favourite Postman Pat through 2010, Broadcast reports today.

The new order of 26 x 15-minute episodes comes on top of an initial order of 26 x 15-minute episodes and 4 x 30-minute specials currently in production for BBC Two and CBeebies.

The original series, launched in 1981, has been sold to over 65 countries worldwide.

public enemy, Pat's been going now with his black and white cat for 20 odd years now, why stop it now? He's on a roll. Who's going to deliver the post if he does retire. Postman Bodger with his black and white badger perhaps?

Aparently only 26 episodes of the original lot were ever made, and they've been repeating since. So this new run will actually outnumber the old stuff. And to please the equal opportunities crowd, they've added a token Asian family to run a shop.
