Video Editing Software

Recommended Posts

I want to get more experience with video editing, but don't want to spend $800 on Adobe Premiere.

With image editing, I can use The GIMP as an alternative to Adobe Photoshop, thus saving myself $650.

But I am unaware of alternative video editing software packages. What are the alternatives? Anything decent with a freeware / open source licence?

Well if you have a Mac, it's recommended that you go with Final Cut Pro/Express (I believe Express is cheaper).

If you're on PC, then Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere would be the ways to go.

And I don't really know if there is a freeware video editing software out there, or if one would make sense but going to download.com would probably help you find some that are cheaper.
