Paging YI to the thread, but yeah, was just looking for some dance music to add to my MP3 player. In the process of ripping my girlfriends two Ministry compilations, but just thought I'd ask for some other stuff to check out. Preferably songs, not albums.

No real preference. I'd prefer leaning a little more towards commercial stuff though, you know, the kinda stuff that makes you go 'oh, I remember that one' (in the case of the older stuff anyway), if that makes any sense.

My dance music collection barely extends beyond the contents of the Clubland albums. CD2 of the latest one (15 I think) is pretty good by recent standards. Unfortunately the last few editions have focused on simply turning chart records into dance music rather than actually putting dance music on them and the results haven't always been great.

If you want commercialy stuff from a few years back you gotta look up Barthezz, Mauro Picotto, Faithless, Tiesto (obv.) Ian Van Dahl, Milk Inc, Fragma... and a ton of other crap but of course my mind's gone blank at this most crucial moment.

I would definitely recommend getting some of the Clubland CD's though. My favourite was Clubland 4. That was played over and over in my car and whilst some of the songs I knew already the rest really grew on me too. Top album.

I would throw out some reccomendations like Alkazar (This is the World We Live In), MSTRKRFT (Work On You, Street Justice, Bodywork) and possibly The New Cities (Dead End Countdown, Looks Minus Substance).

As for current 'in' things.

Deadmau5 is currently the dogs bollocks, built up quite a mainstream following recently, shame his singles are a bit hit and miss. But tracks like "Brazil", "Slip" and "Arguru" are great.

Lucca is great too, probably my favourite 'dance' release of the year so far.

There's also the new Dan Deacon and (Chris) Clark which are alright...although Clark for me suffers from that IDM thing of "forgetting it's meant to be DANCE MUSIC"

There's a new CJ Bolland album due soon apparently, which i can't wait for.

You've got your more 'indie' style, Daft Punk/Jamiroquai followers like Yuksek, Kennedy, Passion Pit, Miike Snow General Elektriks and Montée who are very good too.
