Suggestions welcome for my 1996 scenario (Promotions)

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Recently started work on a scenario to start in January 1996. I am using scenario off EWRInventory as a base, but of course this is so far off accurate it almost becomes irrelevant. Anyway, I have had to add alot of the promotions that were around that time myself, and outside of the big three at the time my knowledge is severely lacking. I have done alot of googling and other research to try to get the promotions in the best order I could manage, but of course I know there is some knowledgable people on here so could always do with a few pointers and suggestions. Would just like to know what is the general consensus on my placing of the 18 promotions I will have in the game. Any knowledge of schools and development territories around the time of January 1996 would be great. And also, any suggestions on finances would be cool. Here's what I've got so far:

AWA ran from 1960-1991. And NWA is a tricky one. I can't find any records of any promotions around in 1996, besides "NWA East" which doesn't seem to have been upto much, doesn't even have a wiki page. Also, I think the NWA titles were held by wrestlers in Japan around these times.

The last SMW show was on November 26, 1995 in Cookeville, Tennessee, and featured the entire SMW roster attacking Jim Cornette, who was then pinned by referee Mark Curtis.[2] Several SMW wrestlers would soon obtain work in the WWF, including Tracy Smothers, The Dirty White Boy, and Boo Bradley. World Wrestling Entertainment now owns the SMW tape library.

I believe there was some kinda spin-off named "Smoky Wrestling Alliance" or Association, something like that, but it was too infrequent to include as a proper promotion, and besides it wasn't around on 1st January 1996.

Also, USWA is included as the development territory for the WWF.

AWF should definitely have higher PI than the other regional feds. They had a nation-wide television deal. I think that'd put them on the cusp of cult (assuming anyone would've taken an interest in it). At any rate, they were a lot bigger than the likes of BCW and ECWA.

Id' lower CMLL's production and risk to 50/55, around this point (and to the date) they didn't run any risky stuff other than a multi-man Steel Cage match, other than that, no Hardcore matches or No DQs or anything like that, CMLL was (and is) more of the traditional type of wrestling.

Contrary to the case of AAA, which at this point where experiencing an increase in their Entertainment department and becoming the strong force of Lucha Libre/Sports-Entertainment in Mexico.

The UWF (Universal Wrestling Federation) was long dead by 1996. The Bill Watts version having died in 1988 and the Herb Abrams version having died in 1994. So you might want to remove them.

that federation was what WCW turned into after the buyout..

What?

If your talking about WCCW, you would be meaning the GWF (Global) which was also dead by 1996.
