2011 MLB Season

Verlander's 2011 season is on par with any other of the greatest seasons in history. He's taken an average team and is carrying them into the playoffs. He's the most valuable pitcher, the best pitcher, and the most valuable player in not just the American League but the Majors this year.

Dustin McGowan, Adam Loewen. Both haven't pitched in the majors since 2008. Both have had injuries that had people doubting they would ever play again. Both battled through setback after setback. And now, today, both officially returned to the major leagues with the Blue Jays (although Loewen as an outfielder).

Jorge Posada catching for the first time all season (including spring training). Cervelli was scratched because of concussion syndromes and Russel Martin took a foul ball off the wrist. It looked like Girardi was going to take Montero out of the DH role (he had his catching gear on) and have Sabathia bat but that would just have been created even more questions about the Girardi/Posada relationship.

Angels better be running all over him.

Yeah, once it gets to the time of the year when teams wrap up their divisions, I get nostalgic for 2006. The only time in my life I could celebrate the Mets winning a division.

In other news, I honestly can't wait for Chipper Jones to never play baseball again. There may never have been a player who ALWAYS comes through in a big spot vs. a given team.

Mo finally broke the record. BUT, it took him more games to do it than Hoffman so I say we slap one of these on the end *

:shifty:

I liked how for weeks Francesa has been saying that the record isn't important and then today his show broke live into the 9th inning to carry the WCBS broadcast.

Speaking of * though, Yankees are honoring Maris on Friday for the 50th anniversary of him breaking Ruth's record.
