He was awesome. "Take Five" was the first jazz track I ever properly heard and Time Out was the first jazz album that I owned. So you could really say that Dave Brubeck was my introduction to jazz. After him followed Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Wes Montgomery, Keith Jarrett and a whole bunch of other guys. But yeah, The Dave Brubeck Quartet will always be the first. Poor Dave. :(
