This perhaps could be part of the Board Game Thread, but since it's not exactly the same, I figured a new thread was in order. A thread to talk about the good ol' pen and paper style RPGs like D&D and GURPS, whether playing them live or online somehow.

Right now, I'm working on a game with the E6 ruleset, which basically means that leveling effectively stops at level 6 and beyond that it's just feats. Because BAB progression stops then, I'm thinking about a feat that would give you a BAB increase. Does anybody know of something like that? And if not, what do you think would be a good bonus for it? I was thinking +2 but I dunno, could be a bit much. Attack is one of the most often used rolls, after all, so a +1 would probably go a long way.

While I don't know of anything that increases BAB, I know there are various feats that improve your hit die by +1.

And running my second game of Pathfinder tomorrow! Let's see if I can manage to not murderize the party.

Any HERO System fans here?

I want to play as a wizard. My intelligence is 18. How many spells can I cast each day, what are cantrips, what can I cast...I know nothing.

At level 1: 1 bonus first level spell, and 1 normal spell per day. Choose three 0 level spells (cantrips), and you can cast those an unlimited amount a day.

And find the Pathfinder srd (google), there you can find what spells you can cast.

Christ I had a big thing typed out and it lost it.

Basically, decide if wizard or sorcerer is best for You. As a new player id suggest going sorcerer. Youll get a few less spells to choose from, but youll get more uses from them and not have to choose ahead of time which youll have for the day.

So its a planning vs simplicity thing. Which appeals to you more?

Ran my second game of Pathfinder today! It went well! The party didn't do anything close to what I had planned, but I was able to roll with the punches. When I am less lazy, I will write up the two sessions.

In all honesty if you're just looking to throw a few fireballs or whatever and that's that, yeah its a better class.

You'll have less spells but you can use them in any order without planning ahead and do it more often.

Perfect for beginners.

One thing I like about Wizards is that you can spend GP to add more spells to your overall repertoire. A sorcerer makes a better specialist/combatant though.

Oh, and in D&D 3.5e Wizards get exactly one spell sorcerers don't, but that's because it has absolutely no value to sorcerers anyway because they can already do what the wizard spell is. Not sure if the same spell is in Pathfinder though... but otherwise, yeah, same spell list.

Also, I realized while I was DMing on Saturday that I suck at coming up with names for pubs/taverns/inns/whatever.

People! Help me make a list of shop names! And possibly booze/meals.

I use corny joke names myself, the cheesier the better. But barring that, try to use something appropriate to the owner or the city. Like, maybe the owner was a pikeman who was relieved of duty due to injuries, so the inn is called the Broken Spear.
