I think you just got really unlucky with positioning - there was another autodrafter there who always seemed to hit the autodraft limit exact, so you would never bid.

Sorry for not being present during the draft, was stuck in a pile of homework and recovering from a rib injury. I'll make sure to get on my team and be active all season of course, got another draft later this week I'm sad I didn't get a chance to practice for. Plus I've never done an auction draft, wanted to see how it went and maybe incorporate it into some leagues with friends in coming seasons.
