Merle Haggard passes away

Complications from pneumonia, on today, his 79th birthday.

I just actually watched one of the Unplugged VH1 specials with him not long ago and meant to start listening to more of his stuff; he's always been a big blind spot for me. I love old school country and the outlaw country stuff of the 60s and 70s, but I'd just never gotten ahold of any Haggard. I guess I should really fix that.

I turned onto country music growing up in Tunnel Hill.  No one could sound as good as Cash, but Haggard tried.

I definitely appreciate all he made.

I'm not an expert but I'm a Lonesome Fugitive is an excellent album. Also, I went to Merle Haggard Boulevard in Bakersfield once, so there's that.

I just actually picked up a bunch of his records on vinyl last week. Very sad news to hear.
