Adam West has died

I meant to say, as well, that '60s Batman - movie, TV show and comics - is probably the biggest single influence on the presentation of CIWW, from the art style, to the knowingly slightly "off" nature of much of our video production, the general air of silliness and commitment to Fun as our guiding principle, and, more explicitly, in the way the superhero and villain gimmicks within the shows are presented.

CIWW would absolutely not exist in its present form without it.

My first memory of the original Batman movie with Adam West was watching it in Maine at my grandparents house. Never could forget about Adam West punching a shark in the face.

A few months ago while my family and I were staying with my parents I found the movie on Netflix. I played it for my two boys (my youngest loves everything to do with superheros) who mostly know Batman as this bad ass dude. They loved it and watched it multiple times.

Also not to be forgotten is that Adam West was the principal in the Adventures of Pete and Pete. A role he was brilliant in of course.

Reminds me of this wonderful page from Neil Gaiman, in tribute to the Batman of old;

This is one of my favourite pages in any Batman story for just that reason. There's a place for the dark heavy Batman but for so many of us that campy fun Batman IS Batman. The cameo appearences of Tut and Egghead in LEGO Batman made that film for me, in fact that might be the closest to a mainstream revival as we'll get as great as it was to have West back for the animated film last year.
