Over on his own forum, John Byrne, who actually created Maggie, suggested Katie Sackhoff for the role. They've effectively made Maggie Sawyer into Renee Montoya from the Batman comics with the wrong name.

Its going to be a musical (I'm betting they went with that since both leads were on GLEE), and its going to be...The Music Meister. They haven't cast the role yet, but it better be NPH, or we riot!

I seriously hope they can try to not be as political as this past week as I understand it to a degree but its also very offputting in some ways and I feel could really alienate some of the viewership base and cause the demise of the show

Screw those close-minded morons that would find that offputting, this week's episode, while a little too crowded, was ballsy and ambitious and brave as fuck. That's not something you can say about any other DCTV show right now. Supergirl's non-subtlety is actually one of its most charming assets, in that it doesn't shy away from what the people involved in the show is thinking. It's loud and proud and should be.

Now, the slightly sad part is that Floriana Lima doesn't have any Hispanic heritage at all, she's Italian-American. That's something I wish could be fixed somehow, as much as I love Lima as Maggie.
