Why would they possibly want another 30 year old plus player when they have some players who will be emerging into players better than Roy Keane in the future?
Plus he's a prick.

poor finishing cost us today. No problems in creating the chances. Something like 20 shots at goal.
Shame Ruud was suspended, kind of highlights how key he is for us in order to score.

To be honest, I'm not exactly surprised with the result.
Afterall, last night held the exact same situation as the Villareal game a week or two before, that simply being; win or we're out. And even though results elsewhere kept us in with a fighting chance that night, we never once looked like a team that deserved to progress to the latter stages. Its a sad sight to see. We've got the talent and potential to do well in competitions like this but somethings just not right somewhere along the line...Something thats been a long time in the making.

And as expected...
Harry's back at Fratton ParkHarry Redknapp has officially been confirmed as Portsmouth's new manager.
At a press conference at Fratton Park, Redknapp was unveiled before the media, completing one of the most remarkable football turnarounds in recent years.
Redknapp quit Portsmouth last season after a much publicised fall-out with chairman Milan Mandaric, took over at Southampton, where he never really settled at St Mary's and failed to prevent them from sliding out of The Premiership.
Having quit Southampton on Saturday, after hearing of Portsmouth's interest in securing his services, Redknapp was initially caught in no-mans' land at the beginning of the week after the two clubs failed to agree a suitable compensation package.
However, further talks between Mandaric and his Saints counterpart Rupert Lowe did broker a deal satisfactory for both parties and Redknapp will now take his place in the Pompey dugout on Saturday, against West Brom.
Redknapp will not be fondly remembered on the red side of the South Coast but it remains to be seen what reception he will receive on the blue side at the weekend.

Why would Fletcher not playing worry you?
If I were a Man U fan I'd be dancing it the streets.

?
Seriously though, its no surprise he got the axe. From what I've seen of Real Madrid this season, even with the players they have available they've not been performing. I'm expecting Le Guen to get the job, personally.

How do you even do the reverse a finisher challenge? I reversed a finisher it seems yet it says I still haven't done the challenge :ohwell:

The Soccer AM thing is great, especially given the fact that it's usually rubbish teams that are drawn out to Guests that clearly have no clue.
BTW, Juventus is my team in Serie A
My Nonno's is AC Milan

I vote for Livid, Blackholesun's entry just seems a little too dark for my liking.

Cameroon and Nigeria aren't going?.....jaysus. Senegal were a flash in the pan.
Juventus is the most boring team I've ever fucking seen. Did anyone see their champions league encounter with Club Brugge? Fucking Juventus players jogging around like it was a casual sunday afternoon in the park.

Nice to see the Free kicks have been improved this time round.
I remember in the last game, anytime I got the shot even remotely on target, the keeper made an easy save. Much better now.

Bumping this up for TOG again, I've PM'd him to remind him aswell.
Let's hope he can get something up.

Another game, another goal-less performance from Crouch.
And way to boo during the one minute silence in George Best's honour, very classy Liverpool.

I think this has been widely known for quite some time now, but still a handy post for those that didn't.

I couldn't be bothered doing that whole post-dissection thing of yours, so I'll keep it simple.
Crouch may not have been brought in to be a consistent goal-scorer, but with Liverpool needing goals, I'd sooner drop him for one than keep someone who currently can't score for shit. Ideally, you need a half decent striker and Crouch is about as far as one as humanly possible at the minute.

One of the reasons why England beat Argentina? you should be renamed to rockabollocks.

Although it'll not happen, I'd love Keane to take over as Player/Manager if just for a few laughs.
-
Except, yannow, he wasn't.
And besides, it's not like Morientes has been setting the world on fire.

6.5/10
The text really kills it, IMO.
I can understand the red fading into white and then blue to represent the whole 'pepsi' thing but it doesn't really look right. The font choice is also pretty poor.

Disappointing result tonight.
Villareal played stubbornly for the draw and got the pay-off in the end. Some good play from us resulting in several clear-cut chances, but we still didn't get the goals to show for it. With Lille and Benfica drawing, the situation stays the same for our next game. Lets just hope we can rise to the occasion moreso than we did tonight.

Chelsea are the enemy now? What happened to Man City and Arsenal?

No surprise with the Italian links in the papers this morning. If Figo can end up at Inter Milan, even at his age, Keane could easily work as a short-term fix at basically any club. The only problem is the fact that he's cup-tied for the Champions League and also (if we're to believe everything we read in the papers) his high wage demands could be off-putting to a lot of clubs.
That said, I really can't help but look past him ending up at Celtic regardless of his wage cost.

Damn. That IS good. I've been working a bit on mine, should be up tommorow or so.

And the year before that, too.
Another Trebel must be looming...
