  1. Yesterday, after watching my favorite film of 2006, Children of Men, I thought that this film like Bladerunner will become a future sci-fi maserpiece, even though it did not fare well in the Box Office. What are some films you think are not very well liked now by the masses (can be in terms of bad box office performance or critics reviews that will one day be considered masterpieces? On the other hand which films are already considered masterpieces in this decade? Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Odyssey weren't extremely well liked upon initial release and I don't think It's a Wonderful Life was either. Those are three beloved films now. So, which movies will they be? In 2007 alone, which IMO has been the greatest year in film this decade so far, there are a number of films: Zodiac (poor B.O.) The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward (Mixed Reviews) No Country for Old Men (A masterpiece already, and will stay that way for the future) There Will Be Blood Death Proof (Poor Box Office) Sweeney Todd (Poor Box Office compared to Dreamgirls and Hairspray) Ratatouille (I can't say enough of how great this film is, animated or not, and just like the Toy Story films and Finding Nemo of Pixar animation studios, it will go down as one of the greatest animated films) I also think The New World will also become a masterpiece and be appreciated more. What do you guys and gals think?
  2. Pulp Fiction vs Schindler's List Psycho vs Fight Club The Godfather vs The Good, The Bad and The Ugly Citizen Kane vs The Empire Strikes Back
  3. Gone Baby Gone: 9/10 An Early Best Picture nominee. Ben Afleck should really start writing and directing more, and Casey Afleck was amazing and may be one of the best actors in our generation. One more thing, I saw the trailer for No Country For Old Men and it looks absolutely fantastic....I can't wait.
  4. Great film, and the best Bourne film which is saying a lot since the other two were very good. This film was a great way to end the series, and like casino royale it was more about the characters (Landy, Bourne and others) then just the action.
  5. The Simpsons Movie: 9/10 The Bourne Ultimatum: 9/10 Two great movies in one week. This is literally the Best Movie Summer ever!
  6. I got this from TLC, I bolded the question I also wanted answered, it's quite long though:
  7. Wow, what an amazing end to an amazing series. Most of the deaths were not expected, their was more action, drama and well everything in between in this book compared to any previous book. I've already read it twice, and I couldn't be more pleased, I always expected it to be at least the second best of the series behind Goblet of Fire, but to be the best, I didn't expect. My favourite in the series now goes like this: 1.) Deathly Hallows 2.) Goblet of Fire 3.) Half-Blood Prince 4.) Prisoner of Azkaban 5.) Order of The Phenoix 6.) Philosophers Stone 7.) Chamber of Secrets And Snape and Lestrange are still my two favourite characters in the book, plus Snapes last line was gut wrenching. But Molly Weasley def. gained some overness after this book for her great line near the end. Oh and the 7th film better be 3 hour plus film directed by Alfonso Cuaron....please...
  8. I really loved this film, and to me it stands right beside Prisoner of Azkaban in the film series as the best, with Goblet of Fire comin close in second, but way above the first two films. Onto my nfavourite things about the film! Watch out for spoilers. **BEWARE OF SPOILERS** The Weasley twins were great. Popping in and out, peddling their awesome merchandise, and with their betting in the DA. Their exit was well done. If Peeves had been included in any previous movies, I'd miss the part about giving her hell. But, they had Flitwick, which more than made up for it. Umbitch's interrogations of teachers was handled great, especially Snape's. The way he said "Obviously" was beautiful, and the resultant book to the back of Ron's head was perfect. I half want to see Snape throw a book at Ron on the way downstairs after killing Dumbledore, just for the hell of it. Umbridge and Luna were both pitch perfect. Occlumency was also done well. They handled Snape's memories great, and I really, really pity him there. As for Grawp was beautifully rendered, and delightful. I didn't expect the direction they took with him, but it works. And Hermione reprimanding him was great. I only wish we had a "HERMY! WHERE HAGGER?" in there somewhere. There's so much I simply can't comment on due to overwhelming awesome, so I'll move to the end. Now bring me The Deathly Horrors and my year is complete!! The Ministry big battle was awesome. Kinda wish it was a little longer, to have allowed for more of the Dept. of Mysteries to be used, but oh well. Sirius calling HArry "James" in the middle of battle was great, and made his death all the more emotional. When I read the book, his death got the reaction of "meh." When I saw the movie, I felt "That really sucks for Harry. Bummer." Voldemort v. Dumbledore was awesome. Great stuff, and Voldemorts final lines before disapparating were particularly chilling, so awesome. So, in summary, Awesome all around, Helena Carter and Natalia Tena are stone cold foxes.
  9. Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix: 8.5/10 Yes, they took a lot away from the book, but that helped the movie more than it should. The book was good although with a lot of filler, and the movie is great because it has all the essential material in order to move forward without all that filler (plus Harry is not as whiny as he is in the book), and the ending was thrilling. I did watch it in IMAX too so that made it even better. Ratatouille: 9.5/10 Jyst as tasty as the first go around. This film has become one of my favourite films of all time. Yes, its that great.
  10. Just came back from the USA/Uruguay matchup, and man it was intense. The first half was nothing spectacular, and their were many failed Wave attempts in the sold-out crowd (although their were a lot of empty seats at the very top). The crowd finally got the Wave working and we went like 5 times in a row, and everyone was into the match. We had very good seats, the 30th row, and we were able to see the whole field perfectly.
  11. After winning Wars and Installing new governments in Iraq, Iran, and Syria, and implementing a successful Coup on The Soviet Union, I still can't get into North Korea without the Soviet Union, my newly so called "friends" won't allow me to do it. I fI do...I get nuked(as I have tried millions of times before, and then had to start a new file every time). This game is loads of fun.
  12. Wow, 11 more days......until Hermoine and Ron's first real kiss Seriously though, I started POtter 6 years ago, and I just can't imagine my feelings when I'm nearing the final pages.
  13. Well at least Canada made history  (The only Host team to never score in the history of the U-20's). And I didn't misread my ticket, it was just a very BIG typo. At that time I didnot know what match I was going to see but now I know I'll be seeing Uruaguay vs. USA. Should be fun.
  14. I've got tickets for the Canada vs. Chillie matchup on July 11th, going with 4 other friends, should be a lot of fun.
  15. Ratatouille: 9.5/10 Wow.......don't let the film Cars steer you away from what sures to be a classic. I loved every minute of it, and it went by so fast. This film made me hate Shrek The Third and Dreamworks animation even more Brad Bird is the man! Oh, and the animated short "Lifted" was also fun to watch. Can't wait until Wall-E!!!
  16. Any chance coming to Toronto...please
  17. I'm watching 1408 tonight, and I'm excited. The first review of Transforemers came out recently, and well....so far so good. I get the feeling that the best films of the summer are the ones that weren't as highly anticipated as the threequals, or not a sequal. Knocked up so far is still the best of the summer, but Transformers can easily take the cake.....I take that back, Ratatouille will own the summer. So far Reviews are comparable to Finding Nemo and Toy Story 2.
  18. Unless they split up, so they could their own things...those kind of bands count Blink 182 counts. Fuck it. Creed also counts. If they split up in the last 5 years they count, thats about how far we could stretch recent I guess.
  19. Nobody is better than Justin Timberlake! Nobody! Although Kelly Clarkson is one of my favourite pop singers right now (and I think the only one too ), so its kind of sad that she had to fight to stop old clive removing her songs in her album.
  20. So along time ago I did this 25 greatest Rock bands of all time, and Metallica was voted as the best of the best. Well its back, but this time is a little different. Instead of choosing bands that are not performing anymore (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin), its time to look to the present. So only bands who are still Rocking it out and still creating albums (any band who's released an album in the last 7 years) are in this list. Best of albums do not count. This is the nomination thread where you vote 10 of your favourite rock bands, and the more users who vote for them, the more points they gain to make the number 1. Your favourite band though(your number 1) will gain 5 points, while number 2 and 3 gain 3 points each. 4 and 5 gain 2 points, and the rest 1 point. So here's my list: 1.) Billy Talent 2.) U2 3.) Tool 4.) Pearl Jam 5.) Green Day 6.) The Shins 7.) The Flaming Lips 8.) John Mayer 9.) Oasis 10.)Coldplay The Nomination Thread will be extended to Wednesday June 20th at 12:00 AM Eastern Time
  21. The big 3 (Pirates, Shrek, and Spidey) caught me in their hype, and I fell for it. Although I've enjoyed all three films, they could have been so much more and left me a bit dissapointed. Can't wait 'till Transformers, The SImpsons Moive, and of course Harry Potter!
