    Guilty Pleasures

Some of my guilty pleasures are Nelly Furtado, Beyonce, and some of Avril Lavigne's stuff. I also love Kelly Clarkson and Justin Timberlake from his first album to sexy back.
  2. Boogie Nights: 9/10 Outsanding Ensemble Cast with a great director. Alfred Molina's scene is also a highlight of the film. Moreseo than the final shot of the film. The Messangers: 4/10 Nothing I haven't seen before. It's the usual PG-13 standard fare- which includes bad acting from most of the cast, a horrible story, and hardly scary at all. More comedic than scary....especially the scenes at the end.

  4. Welcome back everyone to the 2nd annual EWB Movie Awards, where EWB members pick the best of the best of film. EWB picked the nominees and now choose the best films out of the respective categories. Thanks goes to all who participated in the nominations, and in choosing the winners (and like last year their was a whole bunch voting for their best). The Award year was filled with great films, exciting villains, and thrilling fights, but only one film could win EWB'ers hearts and minds.... Without further a do, let's get started! BEST ANIMATED FILM This year, five films made it in, where only three films made it in last year. The nominee's are: Cars Over The Hedge A Scanner Darkly Monster House Curious George And EWB's Best Animated film is...... CARS Best Visual Effects Although their are no T-Rex's facing off a big ape, like last years winner, King Kong for visual effects, the magic of special effects continue to wow us, but only one of these nominated films had what it takes to call itself a visual effects powerhouse. The Nominee's for Best Visual Effects are: Superman Returns X-Men III: The Last Stand Pirates of The Carribean: Dead Man's Chest A Scanner Darkly Pan's Labyrinth and The EWB Film Award goes to........ X-Men III: The Last Stand In my opinion, Superman Returns got robbed!! BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY And the nominee's are: Children Of Men Pan's Labyrinth Superman Returns Pirates of The Carribean: Dead Man's Chest The Prestige The EWB film Award goes to.... Pirates of The Caribbean 2: Dead Mans Chest Why Children of Men lost, I will never know. BEST FIGHT(VERBAL/PHYSICAL) And The nominees for this year's Best Fight are..... Dante vs. Randall (Clerks II) BEST VILLAIN You know it's a good year for the bad guys when you have 6 nominees! The Departed Once again, thanks to all who participated, I hope you enjoyed being apart of this, and hopefully some of your picks won something! Last year, it was Serenity, this year, The Departed, who knows what next year will bring. Thanks once again!
  5. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda:Wind Waker, The Sims 2, and Perfect Dark.
  6. Pan's Labyrinth:9/10 An amazing film. One of the best of last year.
  7. In that case there's Katzenjammer by Jackson Tippett McCrae, it's more sarcastic then funny, but there is some humour.
  8. I third the notion of Catch-22. Simply an amazing piece of literature that you'll remember....and yes, it's funny.
  9. Dreamgirls: 7/10 Some good performances(Beyonce) and Oscar winning performances(Jennifer Hudson, who is absolutely fantastic) make it a fun night at the movies. I didn't like some of the songs, and the third act sort of slowed down, but overall it was a good film.
  10. United 93: 8.5/10 A great film, and I loved the directorial style of it. A great ensemble too.
  11. It's getting kind of stale, but I still watch it from time to time. Another notable audition was that Wizard of Oz chick who thought she sounded like The Lion, but really was doing a bad impersonation of Chewbacca. Video: Wizard of Oz I also found the BFF girl painful to watch: BFF
  12. I am very happy for: Letters for BP Clint for BD Children of Men getting a little love United 93 BD Meryl's nom Pan's love And The Departed(Best film of the year) getting what its getting I am also surprised for the following reasons: No Dreamgirls for BP No Volver for Foreign Laguage film Leo's nom for Blood Diamond and not for The Departed Jack Nicholson not in for The Departed Shocked by Leo's Blood Diamond nom, but it was the 'leadier' role I suppose. Babel is my early prediction for BP(reminding me of the Crash win last year), (Departed is NOT winning BP, just look at the content, its not an AMPAS kind of film.) with Scorsese for Director or Clint in an upset. Never, never underestimate the love for Clint and Mr. Speilberg's film's @ AMPAS! One more thing, why can't the Academy give Dame Helen Mirren the Oscar already.
  13. Pursuit of Happyness: 8/10 A very good and upbeat film with another solid performance by Will Smith.
  14. Their better be some upsets at the Oscars, because seeing Whitaker, Hudson, Murphy, and Dreamgirls keep on winning is getting boring. I won't say anything about Mirren though, well because its HELEN MIRREN and she deserves an Oscar. And what the hell, Hudson was great to see in Dreamgirls, so I would be happy for her if she takes the Oscar. But really if you want to see due I'll point you in the direction of Peter O'Toole, 7 Academy award nominations, 0 wins. It makes Scorcese's streak look like nothing. I do hope at the very LEAST, Marty wins his way overdue Oscar, and I think this year it's his best chance. It would be great for the legendary O'Toole take it from Whitaker, but it seems Whittaker is unstoppable at the moment. As for Best Picture its a 3 way dance between Dreamgirls/The Departed/Babel rolling towards the Oscars, and while Dreamgirls was very entertaining(haven't see Babel yet), The Departed was just too awesome. The only movie that rivals it is Little Miss Sunshine, which should have won instead of Dreamgirls.
  15. It's so easy to suck at this game....play another FPS(Vegas in my case) for a majority of the time and then come back try using the shotgun again. Plus having a younger brother with more time in his hands squashing you whenever you get a chance to play isn't helping either. Just gotta go back to the beginning. Has anyone beat this thing on Insane yet, I reached the second Beserker and its almost impossible on insane.
  16. So why do I need to buy a PS3 in the future? I mean the WII has got Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Smash Bro.'s, all the games I love to play. The 360 has Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock, and almost every game the PS3 is getting. And I agree, MGS4 will come to the 360, even if its a year later, it will come.
  17. Link: Click here Jackson is still alive? According to him, shouldn't he have been killed by a GTA possessed child by now?
  18. What amazing Talent, but he lived a great and long life. R.I.P. Joe, you will live on with your iconic characters.

Here's one that gets me every time: The Green Mile
  20. A Wonderful list of Nominees! One of GG's best! I just hope The Oscars have something along those lines....and I hope Dreamgirls doesn't win(although it will) at the Oscars or Golden Globes, because I'd like a surprise. Not saying it does not deserve it(I'll be seeing the Film sometime over the Holiday), it's just becomes a boring Oscar season. Same goes with Letters from Iwo Jima. The Departed and Little Miss Sunshine all the way!!
  21. To those who own it, How's the graphics? Thats the only thing that bothered reviewers, and I want to know some of your opinions. All I know is this alongside Oblivion and Gears of War, the best game of the year.
