  2. TV's Scrubs brought back to life

Medical comedy series Scrubs has been renewed for a ninth series, despite predictions it had come to an end.

The show, which stars Zach Braff, wrapped up earlier this year with an episode called "My Finale", which resolved several ongoing storylines.

The series had seen low ratings after moving from NBC to rival network ABC and Braff, who plays Doctor John "JD" Dorian announced he was leaving.

But ABC says the show will continue - with Braff returning for six episodes.

He is expected to hand over to a new line-up, including several regular cast members and some of the medical interns introduced in the most recent series.

According to trade paper Hollywood Reporter, actress Sarah Chalke (Dr Elliot Reid) has also been approached to work on the transitional episodes.

Returning regulars include Donald Faison (Dr Turk), John C McGinley (Dr Cox) and Neil Flynn, whose character is known simply as The Janitor.

ABC has also commissioned three new comedies, including a new vehicle for Frasier star Kelsey Grammer, who will play the lead in Hank, about a high-flying executive who finds himself out of work.

    Sci-fi surprise

Meanwhile Fox has surprised critics and fans alike by ordering a second series of struggling sci-fi series Dollhouse.

The Joss Whedon-scripted drama stars Eliza Dushku as a secret agent whose mind has been wiped so she can be imprinted with any personality her handlers require.

It suffered near-disastrous ratings, and many assumed it would suffer the same fate as its creator's previous series, Firefly, which was pulled after just 11 episodes.

But, according to The Hollywood Reporter, executives took into account Firefly's longevity - it has continued to sell well on DVD and spawned a big-screen movie, Serenity - when deciding Dollhouse's fate.

Producers are also reported to have promised budget cuts to secure a second series.

The show premieres in the UK this week on the Sci-Fi Channel.

  3. Who said anything about a disc?

EDIT: Oh, I see. Meh, I like the country stuff, so I'll probably end up getting it.

Double Edit: Apparently the music will subsequently be released to the Store, so I'll see what happens.

  4. So after managing to keep Sunderland up (see: a while ago >_>), I brought in a couple of decent players, but we were still shit, so I ended up resigning in early November, and took over at Charlton, who were 22nd in the Championship. (Javier Clemente replaced me, and has turned them into a decent mid-table side by the looks of it, the bastard <_<)

For some reason, I just couldn't get them going, so my reign lasted like a month. In January I ended up as manager of QPR, who sacked Aidy Boothroyd for slipping into mid-table for most of the season. I strengthened the squad, but we were far too inconsistent (and Arturo Lupoli ended up flopping), so we eventually finished 9th.

Signed a parent club deal with Man Utd, so for my first full season in charge I was sent Possebon. I also brought in:

Fernando Morientes for 500k from Derby - He's only scored one goal and had one assist in 10 appearances, so I'm considering cutting my losses in January.

Neill Collins for 425k from Wolves - Has been great at centre-half, after a dodgy defence let us down last season.

Andy Dawson for 250k from Norwich - He's been good, but my change to 3 at the back has seen him dropped.

Craig Bellamy for 425k from West Ham - It was a toss-up between him and Juan Pablo Angel. Angel has scored more for Charlton this season, but he's 35, so Bellamy it was. He's scored 10 in 15 appearances, and for a while was scoring every game. Had a bit of a drought lately, but a sound investment.

After 15 games, we're 8th with 25 points, having just slipped out of the play-off spots after losing 1-0 to Cardiff. I've promised the board promotion, and we're going to do it, mark my words! >_>

In the same game, I took over as Ivory Coast manager in February 2010. They'd sacked their manager after going out in the group stage of the African Cup of Nations, and I thought I might as well manage them during the World Cup, which they'd already qualified for.

However, my group turned out to be Brazil, Russia and Japan, so I thought I was fucked, even more so when Japan won 2-0 in the first game. Happily, I was wrong :D

Beat both Brazil and Russia 2-0 to qualify, and sailed through to the quarter final after beating the Czechs 2-0. In the quarter-final I won 3-0 against Argentina, and then beat England 2-1 in extra time in the semis. I had France in the final, but went down 2-0 with 10 men before the end of the first half. Clawed my way back to 2-2, before finally losing 7-6 on penalties. Still, it was immense and I'm now labelled World Class.

  5. What a season

Started a game as Sunderland, who I'm usually shit with. I brought in Thomas Gravesen on a free and Denny Landzaat on loan from Feyenoord, but had transfers off so that's all I got. Disastrous start to the season, only winning one league game in 2008. In January I was given about 34M to spend, so I brought in the following:

Denny Landzaat - 1.6M transfer. Was a top player for us, so well worth the cash.

Nigel de Jong - 9M. Probably our player of the year now.

Andrey Arshavin - 11.5M. He's been a bit of a disappointment, but I have a feeling he'll be better next season.

Emile Heskey - 2.5M. 9 goals in 18 appearances, so he's done the job.

Eidur Gudjohnsen - 1.5M. Think he's going to be a bit of a flop.

Christian Molinaro - 325k. Not an outstanding player, but a decent one, and a bargain.

Luis Ernesto Perez - 7.25M. Is a first-choice midfielder in the team now.

We improved, but it didn't look like it was going to be enough. Almost beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, but they scored in the last five minutes. 12 points from our last six games kept us up though, with a 2-0 win over Wigan on the last day having Hull go down at our expense, and also finished above Fulham in 17th. Nervewracking, but a hell of a lot of fun.

Final haul: 32 points, with 7 wins, 11 draws and 20 losses, 36 goals scored, 60 conceded.
