  1. I'm hitting better now, playing almost exclusively DD. Can't get any production out of my gold cards, but my 81 silver Colby Rasmus is virtually guaranteed a home run every game, it's so weird. I hit really well with my silver Neil Walker too.

I started an RTTS as a short stop, called up to the Nats in August, which seems a bit quick. Although I did have a 20 game hitstreak in AA. Is there a position that's actually fun to play fielding outside of pitching?

  2. I only learned there was a predecessor to Virtues Last Reward after finishing it and looking online for anything similar. I'm not normally a fan of that sort of game as I get frustrated with puzzles quickly and end up cheating, and I don't generally get engrossed by a story that's entirely told in pages of text. But I had it on the Vita and pretty much couldn't put it down from start to finish. You don't have to play the entire game again to get different endings, there's a sort of story map screen so you can see where it branches and go back and take different options. I will say the final act is a fucking head trip and you need to concentrate to keep up with what's going on, but I highly recommend playing it. I want to give the first one a go but I don't have a 3ds, and now I know there's a new one out soon, I'm sorely tempted to buy a vita again...

  3. So I did get back to play this week, beat Detroit 38-24. Should have been 7 for the Lions, but y'know, bullshit catch up logic. I'm guessing it's a clutch thing, because Calvin Johnson basically caught 10 passes in the last two minutes while my secondary stood and applauded. Which, fair enough it's Megatron, but I had him completely shut out of the game prior to those final 2 minutes.

Got some highlights from the last two games:

  4. I think the experience with Overwatch will get better as the filthy casuals get bored because their elite cod twitchy skills don't apply here.

I've found so far it's one of the few games I still enjoy even if I don't play great. Im part of a solid group who play way more than me and are able to switch and compensate where I'm lacking. And if I'm doing poorly, I can always switch to Reinhardt and just be the dependable walking shield guy.

  5. I think generally as long as you're not starting every game 5 or 6 times, it's not an issue. There was a guy way back when I ran EWBFL that restarted whenever a player got injured. IIRC it was the same guy who released half his roster so he could sign literally every good free agent before half of us had even signed up and picked our team. Thatlead to the 75+ rule and later the free agent dra.

  6. Beat the Bears 24-21 in another "on shit, we got dominated for three quarters, best become supermen for the fourth" shitfest. Osweiler had 20 yards going into the fourth, finished with 195 and a TD. Ridiculous.

    Highlights:

  7. Beat the Eagles 35-17,should have been a lot more to 10,they had a huge TD late when my safety had an easy play but stopped moving when I switched player, guaranteed INT missed.

I don't like to moan too much when I've won, but a couple of things are really sucking the fun out of the game for me. First, I've worked really hard on throwing fewer picks this season (11/5 TDs to INTs going into this game), and I threw 6 today. One was legitimately good, I overthrew Benjamin in the end zone and the corner got under it, fair enough. One was a good read by a linebacker. The other four were either my receiver being moved out of the way because of an animation (like, literally warping across in a way that is not humanly possible) or the AI just making reads they couldn't possibly have made from the vantage point they had. It's really frustrating. Especially when my players, with similar ratings in the same situations, do nothing. And when they have INT opportunities, they drop them, or worse let the ball bounce off their face.

The other annoying thing is when you work to build your team a certain way and it just doesn't work for some reason. I realised in the offseason that I needed more pressure from my defensive line and rebuilt it, adding Malik Jackson, Chris Long and Jabaal Sheard, and Brandon Mebane for depth at DT. It looked like it was going to work really well in preseason, but it hasn't panned out at all, and I'm at a loss as to why, I got 4 sacks in this game, which is an improvement (although one was an LB, another by a backup). But why should I bother scouting or finding value in free agency if it isn't going to be reflected on the field?

    Anyways, highlights:

As an aside, I think we ought to consider adjusting sliders in future. Maybe not week to week or month to month, but possibly after each season we take a look and see if we can tweak anything (like the NFL has the competition committee meet in the offseason!)

  8. I don't know what to do, it's completely killed my enthusiasm for the game. Just had a three inning conquest game go through full 9, I managed 10 hits, but most of them were on 2 outs and the runners got stranded. They won 1-0 when Ruiz overthrew first base and let the runner from third score. Felt totally cheated, like the game was saying "this has gone on long enough."

I'm not asking to hit homers every time, but the odd one would be welcome.
