  1. Add Sean Newcomb and Trea Turner to the list of 20-something year old baseball players whose high school tweets are now coming back to bite them.
  2. Cabrera’s a good hitter but miserable defensively. Third is the only place he’s remotely serviceable. Kingery’s been playing some outfield too I think. He’s more or less being used as a utility player.
  3. Brewers get: 3B Mike Moustakas Royals get: OF Brett Phillips RHP Jorge Lopez
  4. Phillies get: 2B Asdrubal Cabrera Mets get: RHP Franklyn Kilome Unlike the guys in the Familia trade, Kilome seems like a legit prospect and was rated #10 in their system. I'll take it. Liked Cabrera as a hitter and he's had some really good moments for the Mets over the last couple of years but he was brutal defensively. This will always be my fondest memory of him:
  5. Meh, not really. Barring injury to other players he was likely to be used as a #4 or #5 CB this year while he adjusted to the NFL level. I didn't see him being a contributor until 2019, which is where they surrendered their draft pick. As it is this is basically now just a redshirt year.
  6. I was wondering if the Giants could avoid having a comical amount of injuries again this year, especially with the misery the Mets are handing me with their own stupid injuries.. And on day one of training camp the answer seems that it will be an emphatic no. Sam Beal, whom the Giants forfeited their 2019 third round pick for after taking him in the supplemental draft two weeks ago, injured his shoulder a ten minutes into training camp and he's out for the season.
  7. Yoenis Cespedes spent nine weeks on the DL. He finally returned on Friday and hit a home run. Then he wasn't in the lineup Saturday or Monday. Placed on the DL Tuesday. And now on Wednesday it's been announced that he's getting season-ending surgery on both heels and is expected to be sidelined for 8-10 months. I'm already calling it right now that he won't play at all next year. By the time he's possibly ready to return in June, the team will be 10 games out and he'll suffer a "setback" so he can gear up for his 2020 contract year. This dude has to be 45 years old.
  8. I'm pretty close to just shelling out the cash for a good gaming PC and living off of emulators.
  9. $130??????? Four of the exclusive characters were already in last year's game
  10. Yankees get: LHP Zach Britton Orioles get: RHP Dillon Tate LHP Josh Rogers RHP Cody Carroll
  11. Damn, Gurley got paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaid. Good for him. Meanwhile I'm still wondering if the Giants and Beckham will hammer out a new contract before the end of preseason. He's done all the right things this offseason and is keeping his promise of reporting to camp on day one.
  12. Tim Tebow broke the hamate bone in his right hand and he will be out for the remainder of the season. Hitting a surprising .273 with 6 home runs at Double A, he was expected to be called up in September which would've probably drawn people to otherwise meaningless games. We have conclusive proof that not even this sign is true anymore:
  13. Josh Hader received a standing ovation from the Brewers fans before throwing a single pitch
  14. Well, tonight’s game was rained out so at least there’s some good news.
  15. Vikings OL coach Tony Sparano, longtime league assistant and former head coach of the Dolphins and Raiders, has died at 56.
  16. Called it. Mets get RHP Bobby Wahl and 3B William Toffey plus international pool money. I wasn't expecting a massive haul obviously but that's two complete nothing prospects. What a damn joke this organization is.
  17. I fully expect the Mets to refuse to kick in any cash and get an underwhelming return as a result.
  18. Indians get: LHP Brad Hand RHP Adam Cimber Padres get: C Francisco Mejia Mejia is the #15 prospect in all of baseball, but it's not a rental for Cleveland. Hand is signed for two more years with a 2021 option and gives them protection with Andrew Miller and Cody Allen impending free agents.
  19. Earl Thomas has asked the Seahawks to trade him if they aren't going to give him a contract extension. With Sherman going to the Niners and Kam Chancellor retiring, that could be all three core Legion of Boom members departing in the same offseason.
  20. True but Quintana also wasn’t a rental. I think teams are more amenable to parting with stud prospects if they’re getting a player with under control. All the more reason that the Mets have no excuse to not move deGrom if they’re not willing to lock him down for his career..
  21. Now more than ever, teams are simply unwilling to part with elite level prospects and six/six and a half years of cost-controlled production for a for two/three month rentals. In recent memory Gleyber was the one real exception and even that probably wouldn't have happened had the Cubs A) not already had Russell and Baez presumably locked into the middle infield for the long haul and B) a century long drought.
  22. It's still a good representation of how much quality young talent there is in the league. But yeah, I don't agree with putting rookies in there at all. As it is my head has been done in with the number of Giants fans I've seen just assuming the team's gonna transform into a playoff team all because of Barkley. I guess the bad O-line and lack of a pass rush aren't red flags for them.
  23. It's almost as if they have an out of touch elderly man running their organization.
  24. That team would probably win at least a dozen games.
