Hey! I wish wouldn’t have to keep using the same analogy to describe these games, yet here we are.

If Universe mode weren't more broken than Matt Hardy, I would probably buy these games every year because I've always enjoyed running sim feds and would love to see storylines just progress organically. But since Universe is barely functional, I invariably have to go back to what I did back during the PS2 days and just sim random exhibition matches while the "stories" really only exist on paper. And if I'm going to do that, Fire Pro is a billion times better for it.

Turns out there was a Mass Deletion mod - you can use the mod to sort your roster by promotion/group and bulk delete people out that way. Pretty nifty. I was able to keep my late 90s WCW roster intact but clear out all of the modern WWE and NJPW edits that were nearly a year old when better versions are now available. Then needed to use the Unsubscribe All feature to ensure everything didn't automatically re-download. Yeah that means I unsubscribed from even the edits that I was keeping but I don't really care as my WCW edits were part of a completed collection unlikely to be modified any further.

If he goes down, this team is deader than Elvis. But I wouldn't even be able to sit here and talk about the Giants having bad luck. If the Giants want to win they need Barkley and Beckham flying around making defenses look stupid, and they happen to play the two positions that lose multiple marquee players to injury every year. The Wilpons staying in place assures that they will continue to make the wrong choices at each and every turn. The Mets are expected to retain Mickey Callaway next year even though they're going to be searching for a GM. So straight off the bat they're not letting a GM choose the manager. Along with that, it's been said that Fred Wilpon does not want to hire a young, analytically-driven GM and that he'd prefer a seasoned baseball purist.

Still undecided on if I'm going with PC or PS4. But with the NJPW DLC coming out, I kinda wanna do a clean start for my game since I have sooooooo many edits there are better versions of than when I initially downloaded. Is there any easy way to just delete everyone in one go or do you have to actually do it one by one?

A lot of Giants fans freaking out already over the performance of the starters in the whopping two series they played in week one of the preseason. I'll never understand trying to extract anything meaningful from that. I only care that they get through their stint healthy. If I'm assessing anyone that early, it's the backups. To that end, my god Davis Webb looked atrocious. I'll give him a pass because due to the whole bungling of the Eli situation last year, this is his first game action since last preseason. I don't think they'll give a I-AA QB in Kyle Lauletta the backup job as a rookie, but since Webb has no ties to the current administration if he plays like that all camp I could see him being cut in favor of a veteran QB that gets released by another team.

Yeah, zero chance those menu screenshots are really. Eight wrestlers in the ring was virtually unplayable on regular PS4 due to lag, I can't imagine what ten would be like.

Even if they were insistent on going QB first over Barkley, I never understood how Mayfield was ahead of Darnold on their board. It was just such a Browns move. I also would've been more accepting of the Barkley pick if Darnold was already gone. As it is, Barkley and Darnold are going to be compared forever especially since they both went to New York teams. I may not have agreed with the Barkley selection when they made it, but I do hope he somehow lives up to the ridiculous amount of hype he's been getting. Given all that the Giants have riding on the Barkley selection, I'm probably going to clench every time he gets tackled this preseason.

With the Reds coming to town this week, it'll mark Matt Harvey's return to Queens. Knowing that many of the New York reporters were going to want to go to the visitor's clubhouse to attend Harvey's media briefing, the Mets requested Harvey speak at either 3:45 or 4:15 so as to not clash with Mickey Callaway's regularly scheduled 4 PM briefing. Harvey then decided to have his briefing at 4 PM too.

Huntley was one of the Mets I remember watching growing up...along with Butch Huskey, Bernard Gilkey, and Rey Ordonez. His 41 HR season being revealed as resulting from steroids was no great surprise. On the subject of former ballplayers...the sister of one of my colleagues went out on a few dates with Bernie Williams in the past few months. They met at a function they were both out. Said he was a nice guy but really, really quiet and surprisingly shy. She stopped seeing him but he tries to reconnect with her now and then to no avail.

If the Yankees are knocked out in the Wild Card game, the backlash that results from the media will be substantial enough that I think it might get the rules changed. I don't think they're ever getting rid of the second Wild Card because the league wants more teams to be competitive. And I'm not sure they'd want to make it a full three game series due to scheduling issues with the rest of the playoffs. But a cool happy medium would be to go the college route. Play a Wild Card game, if the fourth seed wins they advance, if the fifth seed wins they'd need to win a second game. Maybe with the caveat that if both teams have the same record, it'll just be a one game series no matter what. Would incentivize teams to play right up until Game 162.

Can't glean a whole lot from one game, but I have a feeling that the helmet rule is going to be the main story that comes out of the first full week of preseason games. I think way more flags are going to be thrown for that than people realize, and we're going to see a lot of complaints about the product not being watchable as a result.

Oh I have no doubt EA is full of it. In fact I bet this was their plan from the start. The old axiom is that there is no such thing as bad publicity, and now they can trick a portion of buyers into thinking they achieved some sort of moral victory. I just like it because flag-wavers who weren't going to buy the game anyway are now going to get all bent out of shape.
