  1. Not relevant to this particular thread maybe but I was just reading an article on Steven Gerrard yesterday and he's saying he now wishes he'd accepted the fact that his game time would be more limited at Liverpool and had stayed on and played for another season at the club instead of buggering off overseas.

  2. I'm still a little concerned about the potential reaction in some quarters from others that are on Roseanne's side to any potential reboot.

Instead of the cast and crew simply being allowed to get on with their job it'll probably be a ton of harassment online directed at anyone involved with the reboot. "Leftist Hollywood taking down another real American for exercising her right to free speech!" but with a lot worse language I imagine.

Also that aside, I wonder how much of the revival's popularity is from Trump voters/sympathisers happy to have a show centered around one of their own who is still potrayed as a decent person and not a crazy or evil person.

That said I hope it goes ahead because, just like with Lethal Weapon, that cast and crew doesn't deserve to lose this opportunity because of the actions of one person.

    Meanwhile, at Chelsea...

    1. Existing manager in limbo, having effectively been a dead man walking for months
    2. No new manager choice confirmed
    3. No Director of Football for seven months and counting
    4. Owner in 'exile' from the country over visa dispute
    5. New stadium plans on hold until further notice
    6. Star players (Hazard, Courtois) reluctant to extend expiring contracts

I would write my own irritation off as mere impatience, but the combination of an impending World Cup and a transfer window closing 3 weeks earlier than usual don't help matters.

Nor, indeed, do posts from Chelsea's official FB page saying things like "On This Day in 2000, we signed Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink!". Thanks for the reminder of a time when the club looked capable of pressing ahead with important business. <_<

    SORT YOURSELVES THE FUCK OUT.

Well if Mad Jack's christmases all came at once and we actually got rid of Jose, you could always go back there for a 3rd time.

  4. From what Molly was telling me earlier, they're having some kind of meeting but it's believed that a continuation is a long shot and there's a concern that Roseanne will still profit from the show, even if she's no longer acting on it and they obviously don't want that.

Finished season 1 of lethal weapon and going to start season 2 tonight. Fun show!

I hired out the complete season 1 a good few weeks ago, for a week and I planned to watch about 3 episodes a day.

Ended up watching 6 episodes the first day, because I was really enjoying it from the get go.

You know what show needs a remake? Sliders.

That show was amazing, had a great concept, and for a sci-fi was relatively low budget since it was just "alternate earths". You could even start it in one of the alternate earths and have one (or more) of the episodes finish the story of what happened to the original Sliders.

Heck, comic book shows are all the rage - have FOX make an Exiles TV show in their X-Men universe and finish Sliders there for me since the concepts are the same :shifty:

You are my new favourite person on EWB.

I watched the show when it was around originally and it was more out of habit than genuine love but that said, I kind of dig the premise I heard about this revival. Whereas it was once about those first important couple of years of married life, now it's about how a couple copes when their married life, which had been revolving around kids for around 2 decades, suddenly changes again. The story of the transition of a couple from being all about parenthood to now being alone with each other again, sounds kind of cool to me. I don't know if I'd watch it and yes they could do the same kind of premise without the MAY connection but the concept gives it slightly more weight than a few of these revivals I feel.

Oh and I'm still annoyed at that wrestling episode of MAY where Randy Savage got beaten up off screen to back up the characters opinion that all wrestlers are soft. <_<

Started watching Goodnight Sweetheart. Currently on series 2, episode 2. It's eh. It's alright, it's a fun concept, but I feel like it hasn't lived up to its potential as of yet, and to be honest, it's not particularly funny, either.

I did actually notice an article from him while I was looking something up. He brings up a lot of very valid points. There's a hell of a lot more they could've done with the show that they just avoided entirely.

The one with his nephew running into the 1940s was a particularly interesting one in terms of that. There's never been any indication of anyone else's ability to travel through the portal (Ron was unable to in the first series), so it doesn't really make sense as to why his nephew could, but again, they fail to go anywhere  further with that as of yet.

I like new Yvonne, but old Yvonne was good too. New Phoebe is eh. Old Phoebe was better.

Goodnight Sweetheart is an interesting one for me. I normally can't bring myself to watch shades of grey shows where the protagonist is a criminal or ones about a cop that'd not bat an eye lid at mudering an innocent person because ends justify means and so on with similar 'bad guy/shady good guy' protagonist shows but something about GS I enjoyed back in the day despite realising later on that Gary really was being a duplicitous piece of shit.

Young Sheldon's first episode is decent enough. Don't think I'm going to love it, but 20 minutes a week for some charming family comedy is fine with me.

I didn't think I'd see a positive Young Sheldon comment on EWB. :PI just assumed it'd be shat on because of the Big Bang connection and EWB's tendency to go for quirky comedies rather than standard ones like YS. I think it's okay, can't say I love it but it's okay.

Didn't the Hardyz once do that when they had a match against each other? Pretty sure the music never even stopped, they just made separate entrances.

I think the loser leaves the WWE match between LayCool did as well, cant remember if the music stopped im between though. D-X vs D-X stopped and started the music again but they definitely used the same music.

Just watched all ten episodes of Cobra Kai last night, its fantastic. They did an amazing job balancing everything, it was funny, it was touching, it was dramatic at the right moments,  it was nostalgic, fans of the originals will love it, but newer viewers will be able to enjoy it all the same. There were some great callbacks to the original, they fleshed out the original characters and new characters very well, and a lot of characters are a bit more shades of grey than the originals, but they don't overdo it and make the good guys too evil or the bad guys too nice etc. See, that is how you update a story to modern times without ruining what it was. Very happy with it and ready to watch it all again, really hoping there's another season.

Glad to hear that. I was concerned that the show was going to exist solely to rewrite the canon to match that stupid internet meme that Daniel was the bad guy all along.

fuck me, they just cancelled Designated Survivor 😢

will do, guess it will be end of this year, maybe like October. They seem to be doing two seasons a year now.

I got the first season on dvd about a month or so back. Still haven't gotten around to watching it yet but I love the sound of it.

Just started watching Lethal Weapon and that show is just so much fun. Don't know how Stifled will be in a show like this but I'm gonna enjoy the 30 episodes I've got left with Riggs.

I like the fact that the entire cast and crew weren't punished by the show ending because one of the leads was a dick and had to go but I don't know if I can get back into the show now because my emotional connection is the Riggs and Murtaugh dynamic and not Murtaugh and New Guy. :(

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed that first season by the way, when I hired out the complete 1st season about a month ago. I've never really gotten into the franchise before but the show was a blast. Even knowing what I know now about its future, I'll still at least check out season 2 when I can.

She also tweeted a few days ago defending Tommy Robinson.

I have less than zero clue who Tommy Robinson is but judging by the quality of humanity taking up his cause on social media, that I've noticed, I'm not sure I want to know. It's like the usual hardcore conservative trolls now add "oh and #freetommyrobinson" to everything they comment on, no matter how irrelevant it might be to the topic at hand.

Oh and in case you cant tell, by the ages of some of the things I've quoted, I've not been into this thread for a while. :P

    - Hulk being afraid and Banner taking out one of the Black Order on his own was a great way to make Banner relevent without the Hulk and prevent the issue from Ragnarok of him switching more.

    Spoiler

About the Hulk being afraid, that was my take on it but there seems to be the perspective that the Hulk is sick of being used as a weapon to help a planet full of people that believe he's a monster. That seems to be the line that they are trying to officially push as well.(From an interview with the Russo's who were also apparently surprised at how a lot of people were assuming it was about being afraid. Also something about them wanting to explore Bruce Banner as a hero more and seeing him have to step up.)

As someone whose main frame of reference for Black Panther is Avengers:Earths Mightiest Heroes, M'Baku not being a total piece of shit kind of threw me a little when I watched Black Panther. I liked the character, don't get me wrong but it felt odd him not being a total bad guy from my admittedly limited perspective.

I feel sorry for him. That's going to leave a psychological scar, especially if Liverpool ditch him straight away.

I've always felt sorry for goalkeepers in the sense that unless they are one of the world's elite, they are usually either ignored if they do their job well, or turned into a villain by some in the media and in the clubs fanbase if they make one mistake.

    Harsh.

We'll take Bale if he wants to come. We could do with a new left back anyway.

He'll replace DeGea in goal clearly. :shifty:
