Why? It wasn't an obvious touch like Gomes' the other week, and there were two players in the way, so it's quite easy to miss the touch which means he has to send Fletcher off. The problem lies with UEFA not allowing cards like that to be rescinded because they're fucking idiots.
I would've given the penalty if I were in his shoes, but not the red card, yellow at most.

Well no. If he gives the penalty it HAS to be a red card for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity. Even as a blinkered United fan I can see that. As said, the blame here really relies with UEFA rather than the ref. If you could appeal there would be no issue.
Touché, I'm mainly pissed for Fletcher, a great challenge rewarded with a red and made to miss the biggest game of his life v_v
