  1. I'd take Slipknot, Prodigy and Crue as headliners (and I only really like Motley Crue out of those three) any day. I'm all for seeing Limp Bizkit, but not as a headliner. One, they're unreliable, and two, Slipknot AND Limp Bizkit is fucking nu-metal overkill. There needs to be some fucking variety.

    AND Korn.

LB reunion doesn't interest me, I saw em at MEN with Godsmack as support, and they were horrendous live, Godsmack where fair decent. I also think LB have gotten more and more mundance since the Chocolate Starfish era, it's a hard genre to keep fresh considering it was done to death and is now dead and buried.

As for FNM, I have a feeling it'll be Knebworth of Leeds & Reading for them if anything, and definately worth seeing as I've seen almost every Patton band other than this one :P

And when I said new bands, I meant establish bands who've never played Download, not as in new new bands, there's so many big bands they could get in to jazz it up a bit, Kiss was great, they need more like that, theres having establish bands coming back every few years or so, but when you've got a stable of bands you having playing almost every year, it's boring.

  2. First confirmed bands:

    Slipknot

    The Prodigy

    Motley Crue

    Korn

    Pendulum

    Dragonforce

    Devildriver

Boring as sin, can Download not get new bands on? They just seem to rotate every 3 years.

Meh. New bands are shit. :P

Nope, Download is. I'd say Knebworth will be a refreshing change, but £160 for 2 days, it's more like the metal V Festival.

  3. On January 27, 2009, Eustis announced on the group's myspace blog that Charles Cooper had died. The info also appeared on the band's website: "Charles Wesley Cooper III / April 12, 1977 - January 22, 2009". A CBS2 Chicago article about Charles Cooper death specifies that he went missing on January 21st before being found dead.

Sucks. I love that band. :(

  4. Oh shit. Wolves In The Throneroom might just sell me on this, regardless of who else is playing.

I highly doubt they'll play Download, neither Kerrang or Metal Hammer knows who they are :P

And with this being a 'fan focused' festival, I just can't see it happening.

  5. WE'RE THE HURRICANES!!

OUR CHAMPION SPIRITS HERE TO STAY!!

    WE'RE THE HURRICANES!!

STORM TIME IS COMING TO YOU TODAY!!

Awesome show. Especially the Brazilian who looked a bit like Jason Lee (of Nottingham Forest fame).

The team was essentially most Premiership teams today, having every nationality other than English. But with the odd error of having a talented American football player :P

  6. For all those going, you should be lucky about Korn...

Not because they're good, but because their current drummer Terry Bozzio is the best in the world.

I hate statements like this. Bozzio is good, but there's people just as good. Bozzio in Korn won't be anything special, as the majority of Korn's drumming is simple metal stuff, nothing too technical or complex.

It'd be like Michael Angelo or Joe Satriani joining Metallica and saying "you'll be lucky to see them, as he's the best in the world".

They won't be adding much if anything to the mix, just playing the songs.

And boo to Borland rejoining LB, he'll be gone again in about 6 months and replaced with a guitarist from some mediocre nu metal midcard band.

  7. but the last couple really haven't felt like I was getting my money's worth in terms of bands that I actually really wanted to see.

exactly what i thought last year, 2008 was rather shit. and if they're doing this 'fan forum' for choosing the bands at the festival now, it's basically going to be what metal hammer or kerrang tells the kids is cool.

  8. Yeh, WITTR are a band I definately want to see live, they're gig in Manchester has sold out, theres 10 tickets on the door though on Feb 2nd, so I'm gonna try to go. I also wanna see Nachtmystium live too, another ace black/death/dirty jazz metal band.

  9. There's a whole lotta bands on that hellfest list i'd wanna see, but i reckon that's a bit heavy for me nowadays. few years ago maybe.

Yeh, it's acquiring to my taste perfectly. Wacken is far too power metally this year (mainly because it started as one and it's the 20th anniversary), and Download is just shit festival wise now, both musically and experience/money wise.

Main reason for Hellfest is Manowar & Electric Wizard, as neither tours that much for me too see.

  10. Manowar will most likely play as they're headlining Hellfest. But the on the whole, Download looks gash as per usual. Bizkit were god awful when they broke up, and won't be much better reformed without Borland. And Korn, well, they've been horrendous for years.

Was looking forward to Wacken this year, but line up is looking horrendous as well with crap like Dragonforce and BFMV on it. Only decent band on there is GWAR.

But it's Hellfest in France for me, it's possibly the greatest line up I've seen in a few years, already 35 bands I want to see, still 40 to be announced. And maybe at Bloodstock this year too, as my band might be playing it :P

  11. Saw it last night, loved it.

    And incase anyone didn't know:

On Friday, January 16, 2009, wrestler Paul "Paul E. Normus" Fuchs passed away at 33 years of age. He was among the many real life wrestlers featured in the film. Police did not find anything suspicious at the scene and are handling the incident as a medically related death.[25]

Incase you don't know who Paul E. Normus was in the film, he was in the backstage shots for the WXW show. This is him:

  12. Nah, it wasn't a plug, if it was, it's pretty vague. Just wondered who was into em, as I've never really listened to em considering they're quite a well known band.
