To be honest, I had no idea what they were thinking putting Rockhold / Costa in Utah when Rockhold has been old for around 4 years now and Edwards was going to face a demon of a cardio machine in Usman. Still, makes the trilogy fight hell of a lot more interesting if they put it back in Vegas or somewhere like Florida or NYC. Or maybe... UK stadium show?

Also next week is the Ok / Lee rematch, right? That should be fun. I haven't been to a ONE FC fight in a while, but it looks like a short and sweet and most of all, uncomplicated card.

Dana wants Wembley for Edwards/Usman 3 apparently, which would be huge.

The Ok/Lee fight is Friday night for One160, One Fight Night 1 is the 8am show on Saturday in the same venue.

  2. I know they'll never stop, but I'm really over these events at high altitudes that just suck the energy out of fighters within a round. Two weeks of acclimation honestly isn't enough for most of them (whilst I'm not a fighter it took me 4 weeks to re-acclimate to the high altitude when I traveled back to live in Mongolia after a summer break) and I think you could see it in both Rockhold/Costa and with Edwards after the first round, he looked so tired but thankfully hit that near-perfect kick to change the result.

In other news, I got tickets to One FC Championships this weekend here in Singapore and then realized the event is at 8 am here as it's live for US TV on Amazon Prime!

  3. Wonderful show, enjoyed its end as much as I did with BB. It's wild to think we almost lost Odenkirk while filming all this, so glad he made it through and got to finish off such a wonderfully complex character over 11 seasons. Also, Rhea Seehorn best win the Emmy this year now that she's finally nominated.

  4. Cigar absolutely melted my face off last night in Graz, totally worth the 5am 3 hour bus back to Vienna this morning and straight into work. Truly a hidden gem from the 90s skate punk scene and so glad they're back now with a new album dropping on Fat Wreck.

I'll never be totally happy with a Spurs kit whilst we have the big red AIA plastered across the front of it.

Reminds me of the hatred I always had the Bimbo sponsor on the Philli Union jersey, it took them years but they finally caved and worked with the kit colours..

  6. A big gripe of mine is when a sponsor just goes against the colourway of a kit

The Sardinia Home Kit (not recognised by FIFA, but a CONIFA team), lovely shades of green, white and black. Kit sponsor "Yeehhh, we're gonna stick with red, and stick a big ugly side label on it too".

  7. Even though I'm leaving the country for good in 10 days, I just realised Cigar are playing in Graz on Wednesday so an impromptu round trip is planned. Another punk band to tick off my 'never expected to see live list'.

Anyone here seen RTJ or Big Boi (or both) live? A museum in northwestern Arkansas is doing an exhibit called "The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse", and as part of it they're hosting RTJ and Big Boi for a concert on July 16th.

If I can get a steady job between now and then I'm real tempted to go, but fuck, it's $200 for premium seating or $98 general admission. I'm used to paying like, $10-$25 a pop for shows..

Yes, I saw RTJ in Atlanta in 2017 with Big Boi and they tore the house down, always put on a great show.

  9. Oddly had a really indepth conversation with friends about this last weekend and I was writing a list this week about it.

Green Day - Dookie / The first album that really blew my mind as a kid, still brings me that sheer joy of experiencing something that was just radio friendly trash.
Andrew WK - I Get Wet / The purest slab of positive party rock you'll ever experience.
Black Flag - Damaged / A classic along with the next album, part of my punk education as a kid and I really got heavily into the DC punk scene bands.
Bad Brains - Bad Brains / Just legendary.
Bruce Springsteen - Born To Run / It's close between this and 'Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ' for me, but the maturity in this album gets it for me, Jungeland is a perfect album finisher.
The National - High Violet / I never knew of The National until this album, and while I've enjoyed some of their other stuff, this album was just wonderful to me.
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I am, That’s What I’m Not / Saw them play in Wigan about 3 weeks before "I Bet You Look Good.." took the charts by storm, and it was the wildest show I'd ever seen for an 'indie band'. Probably one of the best debut albums ever.
Gregory Alan Isakov - This Empty Northern Hemisphere / I completely accidentally discovery one day online and this album left a huge imprint on me from an Americana folk place.
Daft Punk - Discovery / Easily their finest album, while most of their albums are great, everything on this is just gold.
The Divine Comedy - Casanova / I was in high school when 'National Express' was at Number 1 in the charts and in school we found it amazing that the word 'arse' wasn't censored. I'd never heard music like this before and it was the start of my love for baroque pop and TDC.
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours / I mean, need I say more?
... Like Clockwork - QOTSA / Probably the pinnacle of QOTSA for me, just a great mix of their evolution.
Bohren & Der Club of Gore - Sunset Mission / Just pure dark grimy blues like you're in a Charles Bukowski pulp detective novel...

  10. I've just binged watch all 3 seasons of Mr. Inbetween over the last 5 days. A totally underrated gem of a TV show that I think has gone under a lot of folks radars. Probably my favourite show since Breaking Bad originally aired. It's funny, heartbreaking and lots of fun action, and the ending had me cheering.

  11. The pitch invasion thing is becoming a joke, I'd like to see point deductions become the punishment for that in the future as it'd make all fans think twice about doing it and also the clubs would have to reinforce it with more security (depending on the club size of course).

Have to say I like this group of nominees. Mason Mount is the only person I can think of who maybe also deserves to be on there.

Young Player and Manager of the Year nominees are also out.

Harry Maguire has been robbed here.

  13. So sad, he was the nicest guy. First time I met him he shouted "Dude, I look just like you!", with our similar build and beard, it was never 'I look like him', though I did drunkenly once walk around Download campsite in a fur coat claiming to be him for the laugh and free drinks, to which he said "I'd have done the same thing".

After showing her 1 episode of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace a few years ago, my girlfriend and I watched the remaning episodes this week.

Generally, that is a show that holds up incredibly well. I also discovered that the DVD has a full version of "One Track Lover" on it.

The DVD interviews are also some of the best bits overall from this glorious show. It's definitely something I try to get all people to watch who haven't heard of it.

Do people who live within 10km of multiple stadiums (Liverpool, Nottingham, London, etc) get to choose their team or are they forced to support the nearest team in this scenario? I feel sorry for people whose biggest club in that catchment area play at the 11th level of the football pyramid, which is certainly the case in some areas of Norfolk.

As  a kid here it was definitely Liverpool or Everton, or get ostracized at school (or worse), I feel there is no a bit more of a culture of kids supporting both big and small though, I know a load of kids at the last school I taught at in Liverpool supported either red or blue, but also their local teams like Bootle FC, Prescot Cables, Marine, etc. It was the cheaper alternative and they get to build their own camaraderie there.

When I was a kid it was mainly the team you or your family supported. I had Liverpool, England and Wigan kits growing up.

Same upbringing but a house divided, red Scouse mum, Wiganer Dad (who supported United), but living Bootle I went with the smart choice. Rather than Wigan kits, we settled on Wigan Warriors.

100% agree with this. I have absolutely no emotions towards Man City other than apathy whereas I can't stand Liverpool. Pep's statement that everyone wants Liverpool to win the league was astoundingly oblivious to the fact that Everton and Chelsea fans exist. I'm sure there are even Man Utd fans who are divided in a situation like this where, perhaps, they're more emotionally invested in their rivalry with Liverpool than Man City for historical reasons. This poll on BBC Football shows that Pep was talking out of his ass (spoilered for size):

I think that's Peps biggest issue, he's wants folks to have an opinion about City like everyone does with Liverpool, but everyone is just apathetic towards them as they bought their way into recent history and now expect the historical clout as other teams are seen with. It does amuse me though how much Liverpool do now live in Pep's head rent free.
