  1. Ha, I was watching that game as well. They have some crazy names on that squad, led by God'sgift. They were talking about some other guys that might be able to join the team in the middle of the season if they can get their grades up. Those kids need to learn how lucky they are to play basketball and get in the books.
  2. So I for one am stoked about having ANY sort of basketball back. Without the NBA this season, college basketball will probably be a lot bigger deal this season. Here is the preseason top 25, which is useless, but is fun to look at. 1. North Carolina (62) 2. Kentucky 3. Ohio State (1) 4. Connecticut (2) 5. Syracuse 6. Duke 7. Vanderbilt 8. Florida 9. Louisville 10. Pittsburgh 11. Memphis 12. Baylor 13. Kansas 14. Xavier 15. Wisconsin 16. Arizona 17. UCLA 18. Michigan 19. Alabama 20. Texas A&M 21. Cincinnati 22. Marquette 23. Gonzaga 24. California 25. Missouri
  3. C.C. Sabathia just reworked his Yankees contract for $122M for five years.

Anyone have a strategy for posting up in the paint, and then getting out fast enough to not get called for a three seconds? I'll post up against a guard in the paint, expecting to get the ball quickly, then realize I'm not going to get it, then try to get out but I'm basically glued to the guy guarding me. Just a tad frustrating, you'd think you would control when you're posting someone up.
  5. In Washington we trust. Lewis has been outstanding on the mound. Ride him.
  6. What a great game. This series is definitely well matched and it's a shame people aren't watching because Philadelphia, New York or Boston isn't in it.
  7. Dirk will throw out the first pitch for game three. A huge twitter uproar must have done some convincing to Selig. Source here.
  8. I think the best way to make the World Series more relevant would be to somehow make it outside of the NFL season. It would be tough, since it's already week 7 in the NFL season. I agree with you about a pre-game concert, something to make casual fans a little more interested either in attending or watching on TV. I hope you're right about the prediction. It would suck to lose on the biggest stage in back to back years.
  9. 30-27, L 38-35 OT, W 30-27, L 33-30, W 27-26, L 14-13, W 27-24, L 27-24 OT, W 18-16, W 34-30, L 20-16, L That's the Cowboys' last 11 games going back to last season. Yesterday's game was a blowout by our standards.
  10. That was kind of the perspective many of us took last year going into the World Series against the Giants and we got did by their rotation. The Cardinals have a great staff as well, despite their production so far in the postseason. I think it will be a great series, and the deciding factor will be which team can straighten out their rotation and save their bullpen.
  11. Back to back World Series! I'm loving sports life in Dallas right now.
  12. Rangers offense FINALLY did them dirty. 9 runs, 6 hits, 4 pitchers in the third inning.
  13. I really thought Porcello was going to murder us, but we finally cracked him for a 3-2 lead. Now hopefully our bullpen can continue their dominance and hold this lead.
  14. As far as jerseys go, I think adidas sponsors the NBA, and Nike or Reebok, or even Under Armour, would just over anything the players get together. I'm not sure how exclusive the contracts are between the NBA and networks, but I don't see why ESPN wouldn't cover the league as well. If they couldn't get a hold of the footage, casual sports fans wouldn't jump on board if they didn't see it on SportsCenter day in and day out.
  15. I wonder who's going to pay these players, and how they're going to get their product televised. Someone would televise it, nothing to worry about there. I have no idea how'd they start it up, but I'm assuming guys like LeBron, Wade, Dwight, Kobe, etc could fund their own teams and maybe they'd hold some sort of "fantasy draft." I can see each player have a team based in their hometown (LeBron comes back to Cleveland whether that goes over good or bad, Wade goes to Chicago, Howard in Atlanta and Kobe in Philly, all big markets.)
  16. Amare Stoudemire said that the possibility of the players creating their own league is a "very, very real possibility."
  17. What's crazier; the fact that they're good, or the fact that they managed to lose to the Cowboys?
  18. Rangers-Tigers has been delayed until tomorrow. Which is fine, cause now I can go,
  19. Didn't get to see the game last night, but I have a hard time believing the Rangers can continue winning is CJ doesn't get back on track. He's had two poor performances in the playoffs, but the rest of the team has been stellar.
  20. The problem with inviting West Virginia and Louisville is the fact that the Big XII wants to remain geographically small so that the families of players and fans can travel to away games. Of course, if that was their main concern we can expect to see Houston, SMU, and TCU joining the conference. I think at the end of the day, the Big XII will swallow geography in favor of higher competition. I wouldn't mind seeing Houston and SMU join the conference if it meant an expansion to fourteen teams, though. Both have decent football programs, and if SMU got into an AQ conference, June Jones might really be able to do some damage.
  21. I'll have to say the Tigers win the ALCS, they seem too primed to win the thing. Brewers and Cardinals will also be a great series, but I think the Brewers' starting pitching will outduel the Cards staff. Tigers and Brewers in 6.
  22. Jerry Jones fired Tom Landry. I think he passed Al Davis a long time ago.

You mean you can actually take a current player in the league and play My Player with him?
  24. What does the future at 3B look like for the Yankees? Any good prospects down in the farm, or is Evan Longoria going to man the position in a couple of years?
