  1. My favorite episodes (aside from "My Lunch", which was one of the best episodes ever) are the ones where they focus on other characters. "His Story", "His Story 2", "Her Story", "His Story 3", "Her Story 2", "His Story 4", and "Their Story" are my favorites, just because it lets you have the inner-workings of their mind.

Not to mention, "Her Story" has given me my new way of cursing (frick, frick on a stick, and frick on a stick with a brick) as well as a nice name to call a girl when she bends over (camel butt), WOOT!

  2. Just saw it, it was okay. There were some laugh-out-loud points, but just seemed like a regular episode. Still, it was worth the $5 that I paid to see it (thank you early shows). Definitely good enough to go see at least once.

I'm traumatized, and feel like a pedophile, tho...

  3. A big group of us are going to see it early on Friday, probably around 5 right after we all get off work. I'm thinking about backing out, not because I don't want to see it, but because one of the guys who I just heard was invited is one of those annoying movie goers. You know, he yells out completely stupid things like "I have a small penis" for no reason, stands up and grinds on your shoulder, might give you a lap dance, yells at the screen if he thinks something is stupid.

Ugh, I hate him so much...

  4. I think this is really funny, because a few weeks ago me and my youngest brother were naming the people we thought could replace Barker, and one of us jokingly said Drew Carey. We went on, for the next hour, making jokes about how he would do.

We actually were figuring that he would bring Ryan Stiles or Wayne Brady on the show, and we were making jokes about how he would bring them out. We also were saying one of the models who shows the stuff should definitely be Mimi.

Well, it doesn't seem as funny now, but you had to be there, I guess...

  5. 7-Elevens Become Simpsons 'Kwik-E-Marts'

By DAVID KOENIG, AP Business Writer

DALLAS - Over the weekend, 7-Eleven Inc. turned a dozen stores into Kwik-E-Marts, the fictional convenience stores of "The Simpsons" fame, in the latest example of marketers making life imitate art.

Those stores and most of the 6,000-plus other 7-Elevens in North America will sell items that until now existed only on television: Buzz Cola, KrustyO's cereal and Squishees, the slushy drink knockoff of Slurpees.

It's all part of a campaign to hype the July 27 opening of "The Simpsons Movie," the big-screen debut for the long-running television cartoon, which loves to lampoon 7-Eleven as a store that sells all kinds of unhealthy snacks and is run by a man with a thick Indian accent.

For 20th Century Fox Film Corp. and Homer's creators at Gracie Films, the stunt is a cheap way to call attention to their movie, since 7-Eleven is bearing all the costs, which executives of the retail chain put at somewhere in the single millions.

At 7-Eleven, they're hoping it shows the ubiquitous chain has a trait seen in few corporations _ the ability to laugh at themselves.

"We thought if you really want to do something different, the idea of actually changing stores into Kwik-E-Marts was over the top but a natural," said Bobbi Merkel, an executive for of 7-Eleven's advertising agency, FreshWorks, a unit of Omnicom Group Inc. "It shows they get the joke."

The monthlong promotion has been rumored a long time _ it's hard to keep a secret known by so many suppliers and franchisees _ but 7-Eleven managed to keep the locations of the stores quiet until early Sunday morning. That's when the exteriors of 11 U.S. stores and one in Canada were flocked in industrial foam and given new signs to replicate the animated look of Kwik-E-Marts.

The U.S. locations where a 7-Eleven store was transformed into a Kwik-E-Mart are New York City; Chicago; Dallas; Denver; Burbank, Calif.; Los Angeles; Henderson, Nev.; Orlando, Fla.; Mountain View, Calif.; Seattle; and Bladensburg, Md.

The idea grew out of conversations between Fox and 7-Eleven's advertising agency.

"We wanted to make sure the movie stands out as a true cultural event this summer," said Lisa Licht, a marketing vice president at Fox. "It has to stand out from other summer movies and TV shows."

The Fox/7-Eleven deal is an example of a practice called reverse product placement. Instead of just putting products prominently in a movie or TV show, fake goods move from the screen to reality.

In some cases, 7-Eleven has contracted with manufacturers of similar products to make their Kwik-E-Mart counterparts. Malt-O-Meal, the Northfield, Minn., cereal maker, will conjure up a recipe for KrustyO's, for example. In others, existing products will simply be renamed. One flavor of 7-Eleven's own Slurpee will be sold as "WooHoo! Blue Vanilla" Squishee for the month.

Other recent examples of reverse product placement include Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans, which spun out of the Harry Potter books and movies, and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. restaurants, which opened after the movie "Forrest Gump." 7-Eleven has done other movie-themed promotions, including one this spring for the latest Spiderman installment.

After Fox pitched a 7-Eleven tie-in last year, representatives from the studio, the stores, and Gracie Films _ including Simpsons creator Matt Groening and executive producer James L. Brooks, met in Los Angeles to kick around ideas. Brooks added one _ holding a contest to let one fan be drawn into a future episode of the TV show.

7-Eleven executives loved the idea. They had surveys showing a strong overlap between their customers and fans of the show _ both tend to be young and male. It sounded like cash registers ringing.

"They've been looking at Squishees and KrustyO's and Buzz Cola for years and have never been able to put their hands on it," said Merkel, the advertising executive.

But they won't find Duff beer, the brand chugged by Homer Simpson. The movie will be rated PG-13, and selling a Simpson-themed beer "didn't seem to fit," said Rita Bargerhuff, a 7-Eleven marketing executive. "That was a tough call, but we want to make sure it's considered good, responsible fun."

Bargerhuff predicted extra sales to Simpsons fans will more than offset the cost of the promotion and create new customers for the chain. She also said the chain is prepared for crowds and will have extra security and clerks at the Kwik-E-Marts.

The promotion, however, is not risk-free. The proprietor of Kwik-E-Mart is a man named Apu who speaks in a heavy Indian accent. He is based on a manager Groening encountered while shopping at a 7-Eleven in Los Angeles nearly 20 years ago and plays to stereotypes about convenience-store operators and Asian immigrants.

Many of 7-Eleven's franchisees are Indian, company officials say, although they say they don't track exact numbers. Bargerhuff said they were "overwhelmingly positive" after hearing of the Kwik-E-Mart idea, but "it was not a 100 percent endorsement."

"There was definitely a concern of offending people," she said. "But they seemed to understand that 'The Simpsons' makes fun of everybody. The vast majority saw this as a great opportunity."

That's the case for Kumar Assandas, a 28-year-old franchisee whose parents immigrated from India. His store in suburban Las Vegas is one of the temporary Kwik-E-Marts.

"I know it's a stereotype, but it doesn't bother me. Everybody knows it's a joke," Assandas said. "I'm a big Simpsons fan myself, and maybe subconsciously it even inspired me to become a 7-Eleven owner."

  6. I saw Hostel in theaters, and I thought it was ok. Ok enough that I went and bought it on it's release date. The thing that turns me off about Hostel 2 (and why I haven't seen it) is, it's essentially the exact same movie, just with chicks this time. I can not stand seeing remakes or something, cause the ending is always the same. That's why I didn't care to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, that's why I don't care to see the newer Bond flicks, etc. If it's the same story arch, and the same ending, why waste the money twice? I know what's going to happen!

    Hostel II spoilers ahead!

Not to mention, the Paxton character getting killed off in the first 10 minutes of the film ruins it. You'd think he'd have a bigger part or something, you know, so that his surviving the previous film actually meant something. I know a few of my friends who didn't see it cause it is a waste of the character.
  7. I know of Clutch, not a HUUUUGE fan, but a friend of mine is a pretty big one. She introduced me to a few of their songs that are pretty good.

"The Mob Goes Wild" is good, as is "10001110101". There's one other song that I really liked, but I can't think of the title off hand. I will ask my friend and see if she knows and edit it into this post.

  8. I just finally watched it. There were some scenes that I loved. Actually, a lot. I liked Jameson, again, he's friggin' hilarious, though. Also, like everyone else, I was laughing my ass off at Maître d’. Not to mention Parker's strut down the street was great.

However, I, personally, felt like there wasn't enough character development. My brother joined me in seeing this movie, and argued with me profusely. I just felt like we didn't learn enough about Brock, would have liked to see more of Harry's amnesia stuff. I thought they could have done so much more with Harry's character.

When Goblin and Spidey were fighting at the end, I thought it was awesome. The two of them teaming up was great, and I was angry they killed Harry off so quickly after the fight.

Topher Grace was great as Venom, I thought, he just portrayed the cocky asshole so well. I just wish we would have seen more of him.

I'm iffy on the whole movie. I can't complain too much, because I was entertained for the entire 2 hours. However, it just seemed too rushed for me. It seemed like they needed another 2 hours to get all of their stories over. I...just...I don't know, 6 or 7 out of 10, it just left a sour taste in my mouth. Definitely preferred the other two to this one, although I really didn't want to.

  9. How can you not feel bad for Eric and Danielle? Seriously, they have been yielded twice, not to mention the fact they got stuck at the back of the pack with the Guidos for a few legs, AND Charla and Mirna got put on a flight ahead of them when they were clearly higher than them on the waiting list. I hope they win just cause of all the shit the other teams have put them through, they seem to be the ones that most deserve it.

  10. I am not sure how I felt about the episode, I really have to wait until fall to figure out if I did or didn't like it. I mean, with all the crazy crap happening:

Kellerman getting killed really pisses me off. Plus, we are going to have Mahone, Scofield, Bellick, and some new charactors break out of prison this time? Ehhh...just not sure. Of course, I wasn't sure about the second season and I loved it...

  11. Ya know, I've been having my top 10 songs each week in my profile for going on 6 months now...

Anyway, some good stuff there, The Fray, Metallica, Blue October, Coheed and Cambria, and I like that specific Hinder song, too. Overall, I'd say it gets a thumbs up, or at least a thumbs-in-the-middle.

  12. I love the movie, especially "the Time Warp". One of my all time favorite songs, actually.

I was supposed to go see a late night showing last Halloween in Philly, but my friends cancelled, and I wasn't going to be the only one there not in costume and not throwing rice at the proper time. Or, ya know, not yelling "Say It" at the right time. Or dancing to the "Time Warp. I mean, I don't want to look like an idiot! :shifty:

  13. The song is in my top 10 favorite songs (listed below ;) ) I have only heard 2 or 3 songs from the album, and they weren't good enough to warrant me buying it. Maybe if I like a few more singles, I will pick it up.

"Paralyzer" is an awesome song, though.

  14. I actually had no interest to see it. However, two friends of mine who are a couple were bringing another girl and asked me to go to balance things out, so I agreed to see it.

Not going in expecting much, I thought it was really, really good. Had I been all hyped up, I probably would have thought it was up to standards. Don't get me wrong, the fighting scenes and such will pull you in and you will get into it a lot. However, I just could not get into ANYTHING that the queen was doing. Well, there was one scene, but that doesn't count. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10, which pretty much says I am glad I ended up being dragged out to see it, cause it was DEFINATELY worth the money, tho to me it seems like a movie you wouldnt see more than once. HOWEVER, you have to see it in a big theatre setting.

Did you get the girl though? :pervert:

  16. So Michael tells the President what is on the tape and it is her and her brother having an incest relationship. She agrees to the pardon and will do it during her speech, which clearly means she wouldn't do it. And sure enough, Kim tells her he knows the secret and she has a choose. Well, she steps down from the president position. Now Michael, Linc, and Sara need to get out of the country.

Overall, I didn't enjoy this episode, really. Next weeks, however, looks interesting.
